So people have been saying in my blogs that they want to meet/hangout and play Starcraft.
Would anybody in the Phoenix area be interested in doing a LAN? Depending on how many people are interested we could host it here in our house (TONS of space) or we could find some LAN center if we have a large group planning to show. (I'd have to check around, I don't know of any since I just moved here.)
So if it's a small group say 15-20 we could do it here at our house, any larger and we risk blowing fuses, etc and would need to find a lan center.
Also if we have the LAN here, we would like to do a prize pool that would cover 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. So maybe a $10 entry fee and $1 to help pay for the power? Also, we have a few tables and chairs but if anybody can bring folding tables or whatever, that would be awesome! This is a Bring Your Own Computer event as well but I can loan mine out as long as you don't break it.
If we have to find a LAN center, we can easily change the prize pool entry to whatever seems fair.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Yes? No?

Sounds dope, would love to do this. I'll try and round up some nerds, will this be strictly starcraft? Or options like other consoles viable? Know a lot of people that would interested but aren't pros or anything like that.
But yea, let's get this going arizona.

We don't have a TV until my parents can bring mine down sometime next month. Nobody owns an xbox or ps3. (I have a SNES!)
But I'm sure we can do other things as well.

damnit!! i wish i lived in Phoenix now >.< FML i have to live where i get tickets for speeding every month >.< (idk if its true but ive heard that cops dont give a shit once u cross the appalachian mts)

We can bring some projection equipment or some small Tvs. Consoles aren't a problem, but don't wanna make a giant bill at your pad so I undersrand if its out of question.

Hey guys, your forum post came up in my google scanner. Don't want to advertise, but if you're looking to have a SC LAN in PHX, I own a LAN center with 30 machines on the W side. Let me know if you want to hold an event and I'd be glad to hook you up.

I live close to the Flagstaff area.. and Id really love to see more Arizona LAN's get started up.
|
I'm pretty bad, but I live in the Phoenix area and I would be down.
|
You guys shoulda moved to Oregon.
|
I'm down for anything really, just wanna chill and play SC with fellow Arizonans
|
I just moved out of AZ , but I have a lot of friends that don't lurk TL quite like I do that love starcraft all the same that would love to come. What lan center in Phoenix do you own Alomax? I have played in most of the phoenix ones, maybe we've met. I usually play CS 1.6 at lan though, not SC.

I can't believe I never knew that there are quite a few AZ bw players. Would definitely be fun to play with some of you fools :D
|
sounds great i just hope that its close to where i live by

i'm really really bad (ask Atrioc about my two-base bc build versus protoss) But I always love hanging out and playing SC. So count this Arizonan in. As far as suggestions though I don't know how many actually decent players are in AZ so I don't know if a buy-in tournament would really work...

With the way things are going, I'm pretty sure we can get this LAN up and running. Friends of friends should be brought along haha, just to increase the sausage I mean, players.
|
Well, how many friends of friends would you bring? And would they be willing to donate to the prize pool/power bill?
|
Yea they would be more than willing. It's not really that many just two others lol, just tryin to hype this up.
|
Ok. Assuming those 12 people that voted, plus your other few, plus the 3 living here... That's around 20'ish?
We can easily do the LAN here at our place. Give us about a month or so to get the rest of our furniture, etc here and I'll get this rolling.
