Come to Sydney Barcraft and I'll be your date :D
Actually, there's a chance I'll be moving to Melbourne (/jinx) so this is not actually an impossibility.
I'll go, but I'm curious as to what kind of setting it will have.
Will the event be entirely focused on the GSL? or still more of a bar setting?

I shall be in Melbourne during that time and I may try to convince some N9 (AL) members to come (DoTA 2).
@Anima4 - it is focused on the GSL Finals for Season 1 and in a section of the bar, but won't be closed off to the public as we want to spread the gospel of eSports!
Sounds sweet, man, looking forward to it!
First melbourne barcraft hell freaking yeah im so down for this.

I have updated the TL BarCraft time to 4:30pm KST (6:30pm AEDT) as they don't have any Australian time zone settings.

Thx pachi, will cya there!
@Wunder - would appreciate it if you could submit yes on the event in facebook just so I can let the venue know numbers but you are free to walk on in.
TL have added in the Aussie time zones now for BarCrafts - so if you got a notification about the time changing - don't worry it is still on from 6:30pm AEDT - finals start at 7:10pm.
See you there!
Rezyn! Make sure you wear a name tag so I can come say hi :D
Will see you all there, so pumped.
I hope to be there.
I'm no pro but il bring my DSLR along for some happy snaps and get them up somewhere or other
If you guys want the domain (melbournebarcraft.com) contact me at calebhammel@gmail.com I got it for my local area but changed the name and no longer need the domain.
I'm going to be videoing myself and my +1 because she knows nothing about SC2 - she was just really intrigued to hear I'd be going to the event and wanted to see what it was like, it's going to be so damn funny.
I showed her some units yesterday and she called the colossus a "laser poker", pure gold. So if you see me waving my phone around taking video say hi, it'll be going up on my channel once I edit and render it after the event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there
Definitely going. will there be an entrance fee though?
@Chaote - I will be wearing my Team Liquid Steel shirt - will possibly have tags if people want them
@duncdog10 - no entrance fee - just support the bar (drinks food etc) - and if you feel inclined, donations welcome
@Duckvillelol - awesome - laser poker ftw - will be great to see all the photos & videos from the night - can't wait!
aw no fair guys, im going caving that day. just happened to be curious as to if anything interesting would be going down and magically found what i was looking for! but alas. any pre-finals hijinks? ie. before friday? id really like to meet some of the local community

Wow that's dedication - flying all the way from Sweden to come to our barcraft, what a nice guy
I would totally come to this if I wasn't socially inept!
And the strippers are just round the corner, HOW CONVENIENT!
Watch out Duckville, your +1 might get jealous from the amount of attention you'll receive as you step through the doors. <3
Hf you crazy cats in Melbourne <3
Anyone interested in a permanent barcraft venue? Where we stream live games everyday
Hey, since USAfoods is sponsoring I take it they'll have a rep there. Any chance I can score some good wing sauce from them? (I'll pay ofc, just saves postage/going out there)
Why is there an age limit? surely you can go and just not drink alcohol and be 16?
@d3v1lsblood hell yes to the very!
On February 28 2012 19:50 MrMcIntosh wrote:Why is there an age limit? surely you can go and just not drink alcohol and be 16?
legal requirements for the supply of alcohol in a public area, there's no wiggle room even if it's only nerds trying to watch starcraft ;|
@ Rezyn - Hahahaha so will I look for the steel tl shirt with a filo girl at his side
Don't worry, everyone will have to come see me for their raffle ticket for the prizes!

I've only got free printing in black & white, sadly.
Will be there, come say hi! I'll be in my sexy Tt Jacket :D
Hey guys, can you let me know if you will be eating at the venue - just want to make sure they have enough staff.
There is a poll on the facebook page - if you can take 5 seconds to answer, it would be appreciated: http://www.facebook.com/SiliconSports

I will be eating and so will my four guests

Just walk on in, we will be in the back room - come and see me for your raffle ticket for the door prizes!

I realise this isnt exactly the correct place to say this, however in the name of all that is good (GSL Code S Finals!) myself and a few others will be watching this too at iBisq net cafe in Hawthorn for those that cant/wont get to the city.
Happy viewing! <3
Hi, Will be eating and also bringing a camera. Not on facebook, so posting here. Thanks. MT.

My brother is there now and reckon's about 300 ppl showed up...200 more than they expected Wish I didn't live in nrth Qld
Apparently the turnout is pretty epic. I was supposed to go but I got über sick this weekend and couldn't go. Super devastated
Turnout was freaking epic, I rocked up at about 7:30pm thinking that people would still be arriving/still be heaps of room - but it was packed! And I'm in no way saying that in a negative context, I was truly amazed as to the turnout, great to see so many local SC fans turn up to support Esports!
I'll be writing up a blog post tomorrow once I wake up with my mediocre pics from my camera, I've also posted some on my twitter too if you want to see them (link in my signature) I'll post the blog once it's up
Thanks to rezyn for setting it up - what a top bloke!
I lol'd so hard at this:

Thanks for hosting!

it was awesome! hope for another barcraft in Melbourne !!

Turned into a sweat lodge with so many nerd ballers. Good times.

Fantastic night guys! I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks for organising everything.

Nah man, standing up near the front behind some dudes who were inhumanly tall (over watching the screen on the right in Jumpy's pic above). By the end my back was rooted from standing up the whole time, but it was worth it.

BarCraft Melbourne was EPIC!
About 350 people turned up to support eSports and StarCraft 2.
Thank you to all of you who turned up despite the bad weather - you made it one hell of a BarCraft! Thank you!
Stay tuned for more announcements on siliconsports.net & facebook.com/siliconsports sc2sea.com and here on TL for upcoming BarCrafts in Melbourne!
♥ you all!
Your links don't work. Thanks rezyn for organising it! The venue needs to shape up though, there was only a 90 degree view T_T
Man the nerd orgy reaked after a while, but it was awesome to show how much business these places will get if they just rename their menu to Warcraft
I'm really glad that it went so well. For one thing, I imagine this means it will make it more likely for this to be a regular thing.
Another picture - Can't wait for the next one.
It's awesome that so many people showed up and Barcraft was sick, but that in mind things need to be adjusted for next time.
SHIT WAS PACKED, if the three other TVs that were just playing music videos were also showing the starcrafts we could have spread out and it would have been the perfect event and venue. I understand it is extremely difficult to judge how many people will attend an event such as this when one has never been run before (becuase no one counts that abortion of a barcraft at manabar) and thats why no one is pissed that it was so crowded. But for future events you either need all of that venue instead of half OR a new venue, if barcraft is always such a ridiculous nerd sauna then people won't keep coming to them.
Other minor things include get better internet but this is Australia so good luck with that one, and make sure you have a microphone if you want to make announcements. I couldn't hear a single word the Tt esports guy said and I wasn't even in the back.
In general the event was sick and I had an awesome time, thanks for organising it! Just remember people will expect more from the next one, more space, more bar staff, more TVs and more chairs.
WOOT BARCRAFT MELBOURNE!!! thanks rezyn8!
Sorry for double post but one more thing, could you get them to turn of the flashing coloured lights that were lighting up all the wall where the projector was displaying? I understand it's normally either a dance floor or a DJ stage but we don't need flashing lights spoiling the picture.
Hope you smash the next barcraft out of the park as well!!!
I am so devastated that I was too sick to go. Seriously. Rezyn8, will there be another BarCraft some time in the near future? I feel so robbed

Hello esports type people.
I brought a DLSR to the event, but I was not prepared I brought the wrong lens and no tripod/monopod and had never been to The Exchange. Enough of my excuses though. I chose 48 decent pics and hopefully you get an idea of how packed it was. Next time I will be a lot more prepared and will get a lot better pictures I promise. <3
Here is the link, http://www.flickr.com/photos/smashngrab/sets/72157629507197907/
If it doesn't work please tell me as it is the first time I have used Flickr.
Thanks, Smash.

Perhaps if they used something like RMIT University's wi-fi there would be less lag. Big education institutions generally have fibre optic which is hundreads of times faster than cable/DSL. With that said, GomTV has pretty crappy bandwidth, and the site was absolutely hammered, so maybe the bottleneck was on GomTV's side, rather than the venues internet connection.

RMIT's wireless is average. The wired connection is fibre optic.

Despite the lack of audio volume and air conditioning, I really enjoyed the night! Well done rezyn, looking forward to the next one.

Sorry about the delay on the blog post folks, I've been a bit sick - I'll have it up sometime today! :D
