Presenting eSports Canada!
Well, now that we've been active on the forum for a little while now, we should probably announce that we exist! eSports Canada is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to growing and promoting electronic sports in Canada.
Originating in Toronto, eSports Canada is a volunteer-run organization currently expanding its operations throughout Ontario and has a recent foothold in British Columbia. Our aim is to be involved in every province by coordinating with dedicated individuals who wish to contribute to the advancement of eSports.
eSports Canada focuses on a variety of service offerings including: +coordination and organization of major tournament viewings +entertainment through VODs and live streams +updates on industry news and releases in regards to Starcraft 2 +tournament hosting
Right now our biggest aim is to increase our visibility in all provinces. This should help us attract motivated volunteers and corporate sponsors.
We need your help!
Please go to our Facebook page and click the Like button. This helps spread the word about our organization, gives us an idea where our fans live, and potential sponsors look at how popular an organization is before deciding to sponsor it. The more engaged our fans are with us, the more we can do as an organization.
Volunteers Needed!
We are actively seeking self-motivated, experienced individuals capable of working with deadlines dedicated to eSports. In particular, we require:
Webmaster/web designer to help us run our website, especially with design elements and integration with social plugins.
Graphic designer to assist us in creating professional-quality promotional material for our tournaments and BarCrafts.
If you are interested in either of these positions please let us know on the Facebook page or by email at info [at] esportscanada.org

IIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNTERESTING...
I'll throw some of the Alberta TO's and EO's at this thread ;D
|
You guys should get in contact with us over in Quebec! Right now, I believe there's myself helping out with BarCraft MTL, CyberActiv.ca, SC2QC, QCStarCraft, LAN ETS and Sympatico (who's managing Stim.tv) resides in Montreal.
Errol Pinto who works for IPL also is from Montreal.

I don't do facebook/twitter but I'd like to help any way I can. I'm a fairly decent programmer although I suck at design. Is there an IRC channel? The website has a link for forums but I'm guessing it's not yet implemented. #esportsca on Quakenet?
Love the initiative!

Cool, I will definitely try to spread the word among some friends.

Canada !
Get in touch with Quebec as Torte said. I'd love too see a province league.

I don't think any city could rival the big ones..Toronto, vancouver and MTL would always win.
Quebec vs Ontario would be great though.

Canadia! Love it.
Hamilton/Mississauga anyone? :D

I'd be tempted to say the same thing, but I think most major universities have clubs now, although they might not have any amazingly good players, having more team would most probably end up being more fun. Maybe have a few teams per province, based on ladder ranking or something (ie. "Quebec bronze-gold")

Hi Steeveholt. You're right, we don't have working forums yet. We're not sure that we even want them! We also don't have an IRC channel. You're welcome to get in touch with us here on TL using the PMs or you can email us at the email above. We'd love to talk to you about it!
We'd also love to start getting interprovincial competitions going on, but to do that we need to spread the word!

Woo! Go Canada! Defnitely going to follow you guys. Hope you do great things.

We hope to soon. Stay tuned!
As for Vancouver, we are not yet hosting events of our own there, but check out this link for information about Vancouver's plan for MLG Winter Championship. If you'd like to see ESC events in Vancouver, spread the word! Let the BarCraft organizers know you support partnership between them and ESC--this goes for any city in Canada holding a BarCraft event!
|
Guess who is MLG's Referral Partner today? Click here to get your pass and use the referral code ESC to help support events in Canada!
|
So there is a bunch of exciting stuff that is going to be happening within the next month at ESC. Our Twitch Channel we are going to have daily content out with tournaments being run by Sticky Flames. there will be SC2,LoL and HoN that they will be running and casting. Also on Fridays at 8pm EDT with be the ESC show that will be highlighting events and players in Canada. Think of it as Live on Three for Canada. And on Sundays Team OpTiK will be streaming. Also are new Website will be launching with more news and Canadian content on what is happening across the nation. Please keep an eye out for these changes and thank you for your continued support.

Personally, I love having SC2 events pop up on my doorstep. I have to give HUGE props to eSports Canada for helping to make the Canadian SC2 scene what it is. Keep up the amazing work!

eSports Canada HWAITING!! I'm very excited to see what will come from having an organization to help growing Canadian eSports
|
|
fantastic!
There should be more LAN tournament in Montreal! Come over here too!!!
|
There should be a Canadian Star League, mirroring what NASL is doing and GOM, but for Canadians only! Look at how big NASL Finals were. Instead of barcrafts for watching other events we should have barcrafts for our own events! Hopes for the future of eSports Canada.
|
There just needs to be more home-grown events. But it's a lot harder with Canada than USA

A league is being planned, that is Canadian based, by a Toronto based tournament group. They are working alongside Esports Canada. Some showmatches will be starting up in September, featuring prominent Canadian players in the scene. Keep an eye out on TL threads and through Esports Canada.
"Sticky Flames" is the clan.
The dream is to have a Canadian league, and these guys are working to make it happen. Just need support. go go Canadian Esports!

Victoria Barcraft is having another event, August 26, heckler's pub 12-630pm

Greetings from Saskatchewan... although I'm going to school in Ontario so I don't know how much that counts.
At the moment, I'm not able to help out really at all, but GOGO Canadian eSports!

new website is up at esportscanada.ca
|
Good stuff! I'll check it out!
|
The website link in your *edit original* post sends me to www.esportscanada.com which doesn't work in my chrome, esportscanada.org takes me to what I believe is your proper news site and esportscanada.ca takes me to a forum I think? Which one is your proper website? I'd be willing to put in some effort to organizing an online Calgary team, or an Alberta team if we are going to go by Prov. vs Prov. Organizing online stuff is way easier then organizing LAN teams and barcrafts and stuff anyway, haha.

Keep following eSports Canada, I believe we are working on a Provincial and National tournament and with the right support from all the amazing people already doing things in their local cities and provices we should see a fully functioning Canadian league soon! I'll keep you posted!

you guys did a great job at Net Effect for the SC2 tournament.
If you guys want to get a launch event going for HotS let me know. it sucks badly that Canada is not included in the list of countries.' i feel like i'm living in northern Siberia.
we can create some promo materials for you guys and spam them ( ethically ) throughout downtown

Hi. I'm more of a spectator than a player. Any news on new/upcoming Barcrafts in the Toronto area? I usually bring some of my non gamer friends who find the whole experience a blast. I've been out of the loop lately with tournaments and stuff.
Is it normally a MLG event that you guys Barcraft rather than a GSL? I remember the late night theatre events at the Revue cinema a few years ago.
|
Really enjoyed your interview/show with Quantic and My Intent managers

Yes, look for something coming up for MLG Dallas, we did used to do the GSL more, but 3am stuff meant less people could attend, and a theatre usually had a large price tag, while our current bat partner, Loki Lounge does not.
We've also got the HotS launch party late night on March 11th at Net Effect https://www.facebook.com/events/407071402716096/
Should be fun, just a very social gaming event

Hey guys, I need to talk to you (eSports Canada) about a new student group at Ryerson. I'm currently the external VP. It involves esports. I'm gonna try and make do with what little information I have as it's a relatively new group and the members are hating on me for not messaging. Who should I speak with?
