On Sunday March 25th we will once again mark history, in Montreal. Let's show the world how it's done
We always welcome all positive feedback as we believe it makes the event better. See bellow a list of how the event will work:
Rooms
As last time, in order to maximise everyone's confort, we will be opening all three rooms, aiming for 1000+ people.
Seatings
The Nerd/Blue Room will contain a massive amount of seatings for those that will want to sit. We will have an HD projector in that room as well. We will also add row of seats in the Main Room. P.S: Chairs rental are uber expensive, if anyone has a contact please send it my way, marko@1234montreal.com
Vuugo.com Main Hall
What can I say about the Main Room. Pure epicness ? How can we describe the vibe of that room when a baneling mine blows up a pack of Marines ! We have many surprises for you guys in store.
Evil Geniuses GrandMaster Lair
We are proud to have Team Evil Geniuses on board once again for the Evil Geniuses GrandMaster Lair in the upstairs room. We will have Pizza for all + One EG related T-Shirt per person. We will optimize the features of that room to spice things up ! Tickets for this have Sold Out a week prior the event last time, don't wait until last minute!
Attendies
We are expecting 1000 people+ for this event. This is the big leagues. The more the better.
Food
Food/BBQ will still be available with Hot-Dogs, Chips & Donuts. We will also have coleslaw, ketchup, mustard & relish. We're ready to feed the mouths of our fellow hungry nerds.
Pictures & Video
We will have a professional photographer on site + our crew for a video of the event.
SC2 Drinks
StarCraft Drinks Menu will be re-done, send me all suggestions, what you liked or not from the previous event. Also, if you do not want ice in your drink, simply request it. I'm also working on having a full Nerd bar staff. If your a nerd, and you work in a bar, please email me.
TVs
Will also have a few amount of TVs around the venue in the corridors so you know what's going on in the venue, budget available from sponsors we can get will have an effect on the quantity of those.
Hotels
We have a pretty good deal with Novotel Montreal, 5 seconds away from the club, at 125$, nice rooms with 2 beds.
Beeing a nerd myself and for having been at the event two times, I know how much it is nice to sit down afterwards and discuss. So I had the idea of throwing a little After Supper Party at Korean Restaurant 5000 Ans, it's 2 minutes from the venue in car, and the food is really good, Korean BBQ at it's best ! The owner also gave us a discount, Korean BBQ is usually 30$, he offers it to us at 25$ + a free Kimchim, to support the community. Tickets are limited for this, only 100 places available, I've rent the entire restaurant for ourselves !
Tickets
Online Ticketing for the Regular Pre-Sale Tickets, GrandMaster Lair and AfterParty Supper at 5000 Ans: http://www.clubzone.com/events/513115/montreal/1234/barcraft-montreal Pre-Sale Tickets: Via Marko at: TXT only; 514-774-7827 Torte De Lini: Contact via e-mail (MCohenP@gmail.com) or via private message on Team Liquid.
Most Important Of All

In addition, they will also be giving away a lot of great computer gear! Ranging from video cards to small electronics or accessories being passed out to the crowd in a draw or raffle!

We are also very thankful to the Team Evil Geniuses for making the " Evil Geniuses Grand Master Lair " possible, they are once again proving that they are taking a leap forward in bolstering the E-Sports phenomenon.

Oh my f..... if only I didn't have stupid rehearsals on sunday afternoons, I would go to these AWESOME barcrafts! By the way I live in Montreal, and even though st-catherine is fairly far away from where I am ( ville st-laurent ) it's sc2... I would have came anyday anytime but not sunday afternoon fml... well at least I know that sc2 is very alive in Montreal... there should be mlg @ mtl to be honest.

LAN ETS is in two weeks. Biggest LAN in Montreal. There are a lot of StarCraft Uni. clubs too. We worked very hard to get StarCraft big here in MTL!

This is exactly the way I see it, the SC2 community in Montreal is a big family, it's the reason why I preferred to do a sitdown supper after the event instead of getting ourselves a big DJ at the club, we're nerds after all.
Damn, I'm probably gonna miss this one, cause I already asked for the weekend off the week before (Lan ETS)... hmm I'm gonna try anyways cause this looks AWESOMEEEEEEEEE!

We need more people like this! :D I was waiting for this announcement, glad to see it's that time again. These things just keep getting better and better too. Hum, I wish I had bartender experience is all I have left to say heh. oh, and thanks
Very excited to meet everyone again! I was behind the scenes a lot (less than Marko, Charles and Roch), but I didn't get to properly greet some of you guys QQ
Thats pretty sick that all these people put so much effort in this all because they are full of passion for esports and if you live in montreal and nearby theres no reason you miss that kind of event, montreal united for esports , for sc2, thats amazing, hope this will grow and maybe we'll get an MLG !

We do put a lot of efforts into this! These kinds of posts are what makes this job amazing. #FORESPORTS
hey there a site to post your barcraft ! its pretty well done and have a couple of feature the tl one dosent have ( not mentioning it was out before tl made theyre own, obviously they found out ti was a good idea as they guy advertised it on tl ) so anyway think its jsut another plce to post the place up for amximum view. anyway keep it up !
Looking forward to have more time to talk with the people on the 25th during the event and after it at the supper, during the event it's really hard with everything that has to be done, but afterward at the supper it'll be good times with tons of Soju & SC2 talks !

You're giving me the itch about 5000 ans....I need to see if I can do anything about it!

When we are live on the stream like at providence and orlando we should scream : MLG montreal, MLG montreal...that should be a good message that we want an MLG montreal! cant wait, last time, was so much fun was tired as shit at the end but totaly worth it!
But is that true that 1234 lost their liquor licence for 45 days?

As far as information goes, we still have our liquor license for BarCraft. If anything changes, you'll hear it for sure!

OH My god, I live in Montreal and I like Starcraft, but just don't know anyone else that like the game. Except maybe my brother lol, but he's not even 18. Maybe I'd go if I find a group :D...
fofa2000, juste come! I'm going alone aswell but I'm sure I'll meet nice people there! I went alone for the first one too (had friends for the 2nd) and I had a blast! The place is packed, with food and booze available...are you telling me you got something better at your place ?!
Thanks aZoX, I'll txt you tomorrow to set up a meeting time, I've already reserved my ticket with you last week!

How does the blue room work? Since it is a seating room, are drinks allowed there? If so, do people get their drinks from the same room or bring them back there?

I think they'll need your credit card info + name then you should be good

Super easy.. Simply tell the person who shows up with the 2 other to say the name use for the transaction + # of tickets bought. No one else can possibly know these infos
At the same time, limited places creates scarcity and scarcity drives up value. If the event were to be hosted in a larger venue, what would be your incentive to buy your ticked in advance ? What guarantees people are going to show up ? Truth is, if your supply outgrows the demand for your product, you're putting yourself at risk in case something unforseen happens to make your product less desireable. Also, a smaller packed venue looks and feels much better than a larger one with just as many if not more people. The best clubs are the full ones, not the ones with ample space for everybody. I don't think they're going to turn away people at the door...venue capacity is at around 1500 and I doubt we'll reach the cap. However, it will feel crowded inside, you'll feel part of something. I'd much rather step on a few nerd-toes than experience a venue that feels empty.
BTW folks, if you haven't yet, GrandMaster tickets ARE limited quantities! Get your ticket and get your ass on those confy chairs with Montreal's finest eSports fans!

Hey Marko, first of all, thanks for organizing this great event, it was awesome all around! Thanks also to you and all the sponsors for allowing me to win these amazing sticks of ram, I’ll put em’ to good use! When I came up to get them, you asked me if I was doing my Ph.D in esports and then I told you I was doing a Masters in a different discipline.
Even though I don’t think I’ve ever told you what I was doing (you must confuse me for somebody else, or you’re dreaming about me…creep!), I’ll explain roughly what I do! So I’m wraping up my Masters at HEC (currently writing my mémoire) in the discipline of Management, in hope to get accepted to the Ph.D. program and turn my mémoire into a thesis.
My subject draws from decision theory and organisational theory in the sense that I am developing a framework through which we can analyze a bunch of variables about a manager and determine what kind of manager he is (in regard to management style/types, leadership, authority, etc). Through the use of social mechanisms, I am able to develop a frame that inputs those variables (schooling, upbringing, economic cycles, management bandwagons, personal welfare, etc) into said mechanism in order to predict the output aka management style. You can also do it in reverse and input the management style to verify if it conforms to the social inputs you would expect or if there is an anomaly in the system (usually caused by a particular input having a disproportionate effect (such as childhood upbringing).
In short, it isn’t directly cattered for esports but it’s easy to imagine how one could use such a model in its current form or an adaptative form to analyze the thought-process and play-style of game players (such as Starcraft 2). From their play style, when analyzed through the looking glass that are the mechanisms, you could identify what factors influence their play the most and thus act on those to modify said play style. Hope it clears things up!
By the way, thanks to you too Torte de Lini for helping Marko with all this and asking me a few times if all was well for me! Even though I was preoccupied and busy with my little notebook (school stuff!) I had a blast!
Altough I doubt it is of any interest for the vast majority of people, feel free to ask questions about my project/anything related t school! My cat is tired of hearing me ramble in front of my whiteboard!
We got the sickest nerd ballers in the world. Congrats to everyone who came, congrats to everyone who won the awesome prizes... @Illithid -.- I had a lot of fun helping out with it this time around and will be doing more of it for the next, we've got a great community here. Shoutout to www.vuugo.com for ALL the awesome help and prizes and Team Evil Geniuses of course for their always welcome sponsorship, the EG Lair was full from start to finish. <3 E-Sports. Give some love to aZoX and see you next time!
