Hi guys,
I'll put more efforts into this thread later, but I am creating it right now so we can start gathering !
Date and time : November 17th and 18th, from 9:30am. According to Blizzard there will be a nice opening ceremony. Schedule : http://us.battle.net/bwc/en/schedule/
Address : Event Location: Shanghai Expo-Mart (former African Pavilion of World Expo in Shanghai), 69 Bo Cheng Road, Shanghai, China 活动场地:上海市博成路69号上海世博会展中心(原上海世博会非洲联合馆)
Tickets : If you participated the giveaway on TL or any other website, check your emails, they sent the tickets this morning.
I am currently contacting digmouse from TL who said he may get us some tickets. Please say whether you have a ticket or not.
Participants :
With tickets (14) : endy and endy's +1; Trasko; nexerax; monk; leafeater; hydrolis; Antoine; digmouse; BulletCL and BulletCL's + 4; Gaius Baltar; ulan-bat
Without tickets (7) : endy's + 3; Trasko's +1; rabbithu; lambinvoker; Chaw; OceanLab; FarePark; sparks_im
What to do after : I'm busy on Saturday evening, but I'll be glad to update the thread and point out nice places to go to in Shanghai, if you guys want to drink together. Suggest ideas and I'll update the thread !
I suggested Shanghai Brewery (micro brewery that makes the best beer and best burgers in Shanghai, great nachos too) and it seems that a few of you thought it was a good idea. We'll probably be 20+ so it's always possible to make two groups. If you'd like to go somewhere else, keep suggesting.
After party participants : Shanghai Brewery : sparks_im
Cheers !
I have organized a few meet ups already, and having each other's mobile number always comes handy. Those who may get a ticket if they replied my PM in time, you guys will need to meet me on Saturday morning at the entrance and you'd better be on time. You must provide me with your number.
The others, feel free to PM your number as well and I will give you mine. Like if you don't speak Chinese and struggle to find the venue or the pub for the after party, I will assist you.
|
Sign me up! Hopefully if I can get another ticket, I'll bring my friend as well. Will be travelling from Beijing to Shanghai on the Friday, either by night train/bullet train depending on what's more convenient.

Welcome to TL. I think /r/SC2 is not active. You should have used /r/starcraft instead.

I've posted the link on both the /r/StarCraftChina and /r/Shanghai page. Not the main StarCraft page though, as content there is quickly refreshed.

I'll be in Shanghai but no ticket =/

I'll be there with ASUS ROG! (and I have a ticket)

I will be traveling from Beijing to Shanghai for the event. I don't have a ticket though. If you have any extra to give away, please throw one my way.

Hi guys,
Me and a couple of friends (DemonSwap, Sebajeiko, Pedroca & others) will be in BWC too! We are going all the way from South America and we will be doing latin-american coverage of the event.
It would be nice to meet you there

Welcome to Shanghai!

If anyone can help me a get a ticket I would be forever thankful, or direct me where to get one (I heard they were all sold out). I have to go to a wedding on Saturday, but then I want to go on Sunday. Happy to pay a reasonable price for one.
If not, I would love to meet up with someone fellow SC2ers, as it is my birthday a few days before and I will probably be fairly alone, since I am travelling to Shanghai for the wedding from Shandong.

I already went to the WCS Asia but could not buy tickets for the Finals ... Does anyone know any solutions to have a ticket?
I would also like to meet people there!

Salut ! Refer to digmouse post above. In my opinion, there will be tons of empty seats, so my guess is that they won't deny you access. Seriously, the venue for Asia finals was like 80% empty when all the Chinese stars were here, so I don't expect the world finals to be much more crowded.
|
Well, I have to admit that WCS Asia was not really crowded but there were still tickets available. On the contrary, all the tickets are gone for WCS Finals so I don't know in that case .. But you are probably right, I will come to have a try!
Anyway, do you know if the English speaking casters will be on stage this time? As there might be more foreigners coming this time compared to the WCS Asia ..?
|
My friend is coming too, hoping we can get a ticket for him at the door! Otherwise... we'll see. haha. Maybe there's a way.
|
If you speak Chinese, this is the local B.net hotline that is supposed to answer questions about the tickets : 0571-28090163
|
Me and my GF are heading down from Beijng as well, we both seemed to miss out on tickets as well so any help would be great. Noted that there are some Bejingers heading down so I guess I'll bring it up at next Sundays Barcraft >.<
|
I have a ticket. See you guys there.
|
Yeah, I find it strange Blizzard didn't release anything, and pretty frustrating. There is one Chinese person coming. I find it really weird it sold out so quickly. Perhaps we can do a Barcraft somewhere, or at someone's house?

Hurry to check your PM.... if you miss this opportunity you can always come and try at the door as I am convinced the venue won't be full. However they officially do not sell tickets at the door, only exchange your electronic ticket for a badge when showing your passport (just like a flight ticket actually)

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get tickets, thanks to my slowpokeness. But still, I will come to the EXPO + Show Spoiler +to make yo guys with tickets laugh at loser to, at least, take some pictures and maybe wait if there will be chance to get in.
But, if they will not let me in, and if there will be more of us, guys without tickets, but with love for the starcraft in general+ Show Spoiler + and WihiteRa in particular. we should have a backup plan.
So, is there any Barcraft events nearby or just cool places to hang out?

Sucks buddy! Hopefully you can still get a ticket at the door. I'll be up for hanging out in the evening, afterwards. With everyone here! It'd be cool, just like suggested in the OP.

As I said in the OP, I probably won't be able to join on Saturday night, but we can use this thread to coordinate something, and I will update the OP, so you can start suggesting places to meet.
Imo, best beers in Shanghai are at the Shanghai Brewery on Hengshan lu. They also happen to make the best burgers in Shanghai as well. But on a Saturday night, you will need to book to make sure to get a table.

That sounds gerat!
Anyway, will I or any other TL member attend the main event or not, there should be an afterparty. I will go, this is for sure.
I will get to Shanghai at Thuesday and I will have a plenty of free time to help you organize the thing. We should definitely throw a TL meetup party at that weekend.
I can even went to this place personaly and book a table in advance, if you want.
So yes, we need to choose place and get some crowd to our little party.
So, who want to go?

Thanks, I'm actually coming from another city so I don't really have any friends in Shanghai, so it would be great to meet some new people too.

So it's already five of us going to the afterparty: FarePak, idiomikey, OceanLab, ulan-bat and me. Things getting better and better
As for place, as no other bars were suggested, SHANGHAI BREWERY at 15 Dongping Road by Hengshan Road will be default place. (Thanks to endy.)
Looks nice to me - http://www.shanghaibrewery.com/. And the nearest subway station - Changshu Road is on the same line with Houtan, near WCS place, so it's like 20 minutes to get there. (at least according to google maps) + Show Spoiler +I hope they've got a real Pandaren Brewmaster there . If you guys approve this, I will make a reservation.
Now we need to figure out time. Any ideas? When does te WCS event on Saturday ends?
And yeah, more people = more fun. So if anyone else want to join us - feel free to post ITT.
endy, can you please update to OP with list of people going to afterparty?

I talked to blizzard and they said all tickets were sold out and it's too short notice to get tickets now. The popularity is comparable to Blizzcon instead of WCS Asia. I think that's why Blizzard is marketing it as BWC instead of WCS Grand Finals. Sorry for the disappointment. =(

Is there anyone available to hang out thurs/friday night? I know most of the people invited by blizzard are coming weds/thurs and we might have some free time to hang out and explore.

I possibly might be free on Friday night, depends what you want to do though... I said I would meet a friend but not sure how long I will be with her.

I might stop by, but not sure yet... No ticket either, but I guess there must be scalpers selling tickets at the entrace ...

I get back from work at 7:30 in Xujiahui. It depends on where things are and what time.

Hmm are you talking about the games or the meet up at a pub after ? You probably won't be able to see the games live if you don't have a ticket.
As for the meet up you are welcome to join, it's likely to start at around 11~11:30pm at Shanghai Brewery on Hengshan lu.

The World Expo Mart was indeed originally African Pavilion back in World Expo 2010, any decent taxi driver knows that name better actually.

Hi monk.
Hopefully everybody is checking in on this thread. If you guys are really looking for somewhere to go tonight, you might consider Xintiandi, it's relatively close to Pullman Skyway and is a place a lot of expats and foreigners go to. I will PM you my number so that we can contact each other if I'm able to make it (I still have to work and won't be within the area till about 6-7 probably). The area itself has quite a few bars and lounges where we can grab drinks and chill out. There is a Starbucks that everybody can meet at. As for monetary issues, mixed drinks can range from 40-70 RMB, so bring a decent amount of money.
Hopefully I can make it!

If you're going around there, you can find cheap and good restaurants in the shopping mall called 日月光, 150 meters to the North of the Pullman. And you can visit Taikang lu (some sort of artish lanes with art galleries, souvenirs shops, bars, restaurants, looks pretty good at night), it's like 100m further to the North, Google map it if you don't speak Chinese.

The event is Saturday 10AM-9PM and Sunday 9:30AM-award ceremony, which starts at 8PM. Just checking to be sure, the meetup is for Saturday night, not Sunday night after the full completion of the event? I understand many people will have work Monday morning.

Yes the party is on Saturday night. We haven't been able to book a table because they're super busy and don't wanna take the risk to waste 20+ seats. They asked me to ring them again at around 10pm on Saturday to confirm we're coming and they'll try their best to get some seats.
I don't even have Monk's number, but I got 2ezy's.

I was originally planning on coming but had a change of plans and called it off, however it seems I might be in Shanghai this weekend after all. I'm not sure what kind of time I'll have but if possible I'd like to get in on the meetup too. Since it's Saturday night, I should be able to make it if I can get a train ticket this evening. However I'll probably stick around in Shanghai for the rest of the week as well if anything else is going on.
It seems at this point it's too late to get any tickets, but if anyone does know of a way to get a couple of tickets, I would most likely be interested.

Getting tickets is gonna be super hard if not impossible. Best bet is to show up early on Saturday, around 9AM, and try to talk to any Blizz guy you can see.
You're welcome to join the party on Saturday night.

Unless you get too drunk tonight you should definitely come early and try your chance, or you will regret it. Better get denied, and watch the stream happily rather than thinking non stop "damn, what if I could have got in"

Does someone know the price of a ticket sold by blizzard in China ?

On November 16 2012 16:52 Shun12 wrote: Does someone know the price of a ticket sold by blizzard in China ?
No, I guess it was 100 or 200rmb, but tickets are nominative, so don't really expect people selling their ticket at the entrance. Just come early on Saturday morning, and try to talk to any Blizzard guy. I don't think they sold more tickets than seats unlike airlines companies, so you may have a chance. And bring your passport, you'll need it. GL~

I think they'll sleep early tonight and tomorrow night (except for players that are eliminated tomorrow). The real party for the players will be on Sunday night I guess.
They are staying at the Pullman Skyway hotel in Dapuqiao.

So is it possible to go for the (Finals) Finals on Sunday as I'll be free then, and join you guys for the party after?

Very nice endy! Sorry we couldn't hang out with all of you more. We were so busy running around doing interviews and lots of other miscellaneous work throughout the week. =( I think I only got 21 hours of sleep during the past 8 days.
