Hello from Dubai! It's been a minute TL, but I still love you. In fact, I love you so much that I've asserted my personal love for this community into the middle of my job. Maybe I'm a bit biased, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
I'm currently the social media manager for an international travel show called Peeta Planet. It is being aired on Dubai One to the entire Middle East + North Africa, internationally online and is sponsored by Google, Google+ and YouTube. Two brothers from the United Arab Emirates are traveling 100% guided by social media tips we get fed. We call it "#SocialTravel": being led by locals, not guidebooks. As we wander into South Korea next week (Country 4 of 12), one of the sub-cultures I've made sure gets included is Starcraft.
"What is life in Korea like and how is the e-sports scene there? What it's really like to be a commentator or a pro?"The answers to these questions do not come overnight.
Who might know a thing or two about this? Some of these guys:
On March 20th, we've invited Artosis, Wolf and Khaldor to host a sponsored Google+ Hangout and live YouTube stream for anybody and everybody to dialogue with the guys. The Hangout is endorsed by Google+ and is a great chance for the community to shine. In the spirit of PeetaPlanet, we hope that some of you who wish to see Korea in the future through the lens of Starcraft can get a clearer picture of what it's like from dedicated people that have made e-sports their lives. We will be taking any and all questions on Twitter with the hashtag #PeetaHangout and reading live comments on the YouTube stream. Here is the Google+ page URL:
In addition, one of our own from the above list, Wolf Schröder, will be guiding us through his own perspective of Seoul for the network TV show. What would you like to see answered, and more importantly, what would you like to see broadcast to millions of people across the globe? What do you think the world should know about Starcraft or e-sports? What do you want to see in Korea from Wolf's perspective?
Fill up this thread with suggestions, banter, ideas for our show––remember, we're led by you. Use the hashtag #PeetaHangout on Twitter or reach out in this thread and let us know. We will ask Wolf directly for our on-air segment. Beyond just Starcraft, it goes for anywhere and everything else we're going to encounter across the globe. Don't be a tourist!

EDIT: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for tuning in everybody! We had some really awesome questions and comments come in, very cool to see the community connect in meaningful ways. Stay in contact and help tell us where to go and what to do in more countries! http://twitter.com/peetaplanet

Wow this sounds pretty awesome. Looks like your job is pretty sweet as well

This looks quite cool! I will have to think of some questions ><

No questions, but just wanted to say that this is amazing. I envy you.

I'm glad you want to show ESPORTS, but it may not be possible within the confines of a TV show to explain ESPORTS to a complete newcomer. Instead of trying to explain too much I would just show what the commentators have to say that's interesting and show some passionate fans to the camera.

I hear you. We're definitely going to have to be succinct with what we get on air. The idea of thousands of people cheering professional video game players in a live TV studio will be pretty novel to a lot of people. We hope to capture that aspect at least. The G+ Hangout is a totally different story though, we can get pretty deep there.

If you go to France, then get Stephano...

For sure. We're pumped to get at least most of these guys off-site and do some real talk.

Hey Quesadilla, I will not be able to watch the stream live... Will there be a link to a VOD later? I really would love to watch this tomorrow.
Thanks and have a blast with the community and its casters.
