Thank you for the info but was he condensing or condescending? If I google translate word "condensing" correctly then sorry but it doesn't make sense, his post was too long. On the other hand if you meant to say "condescending" then the warning of that particular post is also bit weird because he even agrees in the post that he was wrong about something and someone else was right. Everything else seems to be standard strategy talk.
If I see this correctly then this case shows there is a need to mod edit some explanation for the warning into the warned post more often and even choose a different post to warn. Sorry but if I see this correctly then the red text saying that he was warned is confusing instead of how it is supposed to be informative.
People confirmed here what the ban reason said that he has a not pleasant history here so I'm not coming from a stand point of someone who actually gained something from Belial88's advice (and I did use his advice, both direct to me in the zerg help me thread and from at least one of his guides) but from a stand point of a by stander observing the warning and a ban and an actual fan of the ways things are being moderated here. You would think me questioning anything about this is me losing my faith in the staff but it really isn't.
If no moderating staff will respond to me then I think I will make a thread in website feedback.
Cheers.
Oops, nvm he didn't edit. There are a lot of reasons that post was warned for, specifically for this portion:
I don't really want to continue this discussion, sorry. I think it's kind of absurd. I'm wrong, you are right. I don't know what level you are, I'm 1.2k points masters zerg last season, and my average zvz game length is 17:58 minutes long so i run into broodlords and infestors and hive tech a lot.
Once you have just a critical mass of broodlords, infestors don't work anymore. Broodlord/infestor gets owned by pure broodlord/corruptor once the pure broodlord/corruptor army meets a critical mass of 200/200 pure 12+ broodlord and the rest in corruptors.
And no micro involved is ridiculous. The whole point is the broods just back off if you spam IT's, and then the infestors no longer have energy and you push when the ITs are gone.
That's all I really have to say on this subject. You are correct, I am wrong. Thanks.
You're not supposed to use your rank to prove points in sc2 strategy. He says he doesn't want to continue the discussion then writes paragraphs more. Also, the general tone is very condescending, telling the guy he was responding to "You're right, I'm wrong" twice sarcastically. You interpreted that section of his post incorrectly. He didn't actually mean that the guy was right; he said it to mean "This isn't worth my time, I don't care about this discussion anymore."
Also,
This sort of unit testing makes absolutely no sense at all. You use broodlord/corruptor only to 'counter' broodlord/infestor, and you need infestors to 'counter' mass roach.
That has nothing to do with this build, that would be like saying "maybe a 6 pool can counter this?"
Belial is one of the worst posters that hasn't been perm banned on TL from a moderation standpoint. He has 26 mod actions from literally 16 separate mods. The only reason he hasn't been perm banned many times over is for his contributions to the SC2 Strategy forums.
Oh wow, thanks NrGmonk now I see it. And damn 26 mod actions from literally 16 separate mods? No wonder he has no blue background in sc2 strategy. O_o
He's also not the highest level player and says a lot of just plain wrong things, backing it up with pages of nonsense.

Oh dang, that's insane lol. I'm surprised he hasn't been given the ultimatum (i.e. 90 day ban, if you don't come back ready to be a part of the community, you're looking at a perm).

Hmm... Interesting.
Woah, upon checking, he is pretty terrible :o...
We demand OBITUARY :D :D hmmm obituary is past death so yeah premortem report sounds better :o OR we can look at each ban as victim SACRIFICE TO THE BAN GODS is dying a little :D
I had no idea until today that Belial had so many mod actions. I had always assumed he was smart, since I don't play Zerg and he wrote several comprehensive guides.
Belial is one of the four crown princes of hell or whatever (and a boss in Diablo which I'm guessing is the reference you're making ), hm...I wonder who the other three are.
I seriously need to stop procrastinated and get the shit I was supposed to do long time ago done so I can't play in the mafia game but you could ask Belial to be like mass murderer in mafia... except everyone would knew so he would be lynched asap... damn
hey I found a cool screenshot in my 5500 screenshots folder ^___^
I find it super hard to go into SC2 strategy at times and not use some sort of tone in there. It's really difficult. So many people are just troll-baiting or are just extremely stupid. I really don't post in there anymore because too many people want to argue that roaches counter banshees, or that you should build 5 queens before a natural, or some other bat-shit insane strategy that has no rhyme or reason to it other than "it works in my league" or "here's a replay I did this in". Another problem is that the SC2 strategy is just too big. People post WAY too often in there even when they don't add anything of value to a discussion. Poster A thinks going 14 gas 14 pool is awesome in ZvZ, Posters B through ZedAlpha agree with him and all post several times, but the only actual content added was "maybe 15 hatch is good after that?".
I love helping people with SC2, I've spent a large amount of time learning the game and consider ZvZ one of my better match ups, but dammit if people don't make so irritating to help them I might just stick to helping people individually (which is still really fun, I love playing all together).
Okay I may have exaggerated, nobody has ever tried to tell someone to build 5 queens before a natural before, but stupid things like that are suggested all the time.

How many of those 26 mod actions were just warnings? Last time I checked Spazer's list, I think the most temp bans without getting permed was still in the single digits. I wonder if this guy will be setting the dubious record of most temps without a perm.

Is it just me, or is there nothing of value in this thread?
Yea, but it's modded very heavily these days. That specific thread you linked is borderline bad. If you looked at the closed threads forum, you'll see about 1/3 of the closed threads are from the strategy section.
On June 22 2012 23:52 Chill wrote: I count 14 warnings.
I count 15. He also gets a lot of reports sent in which are just borderline, so we don't take action on all of them. As you can see, the biggest problem is his tone and it's a more overarching problem rather than problems with specific posts.
That was the last update from Spazer I could find. As of January 6, randomKo_Orean is leading the most bans without a perm count with 11. Belial88 was only at 5. If he has 15 warnings on 26 mod actions, that means he just tied for first place with 11. That's unless a few other people up there got bans without getting permed.

Yeah was going to say, I actually haven't noticed Belial88 anywhere in particular, minus in the Sc2 Strategy forums. To his credit he does a great job in helping people there.
never going to get my questions answered.... sad panda... =(

I don't think you realize how incredibly difficult it is to have good results at a major tournament.
Let's keep it real here. The main reason for all this is because shes transgender, a girl. This has nothing to do with her showing good results at one tournament because there has been many unknown players who have done decent and they dont get the same exposure. Not trying to bash on Scarlett congrats to her but let's not pretend here.
name one person who didnt have a team, showed up at a a tournament, made a huge name for himself/herself by beating koreans and well known foreigners (demuslim), and then didnt get an offer for a team?

Sounds right.
So? Popularity doesn't come from how many games you win...only!
well, wouldnt it be better if it did? What else has nourished this popularity? The fact that its a Transsexual?. I mean, there are plenty of people that has beaten one Korean and does not have nearly this amount of fans. Seems a bit unfair imo :p. Its not like Scarlett won fans with some super charismatic personality (not saying the personality isnt super charismatic, just that the reason was not that).
But then again, people can be fans of whomever they wish certinly, just find it funny how Scarlett have so many with so few results Just cause of a sexchange... prolly gonna get warned now, for being frank :p. I have nothing against any type of HBTq person, do what the fuck you want aslong as youre happy and dont hurt anyone.
She came out of NO where, having no teams, that's why! And being so close to beat a Code S Korean is something too, even if the result in the end was a loss, she impressed with her skills, and no one besides the viewers of the Iron Lady cup and the Playhem ''Sponsor Me'' tournament know who she was. And seeing her ladder games, she keeps improving, and the patch probably helps her a lot with her ZvT early game weakness, so I think she's potentially dangerous.
Don't pretend man. It is pretty obvious the main reason she is as popular as she is now is because of the gender change. She is a good player but again, dont pretend that it was her beating two mediocre koreans that led her to this fame. Sadly, women will always get extra attention especially in video games....that is just how the world works. She has potential to becoming a top player i just always find it extremely annoying how some fans overhype her to the point where they pretend she is already winning tournaments left and right. That and pretending her beating two mediocre koreans was the only reason for her fame. Just look at Incontrol for example, the guy is horrible by pro standards but he is one of the most popular pro's around because of his personality. It is the same here with Scarlett's gender change.
Is there something wrong with supporting players because you like them, not just because of their raw skill? I'm a Sheth fan because he's an awesome human being, I'm an Incontrol fan because he's fucking hilarious, I'm an IdrA fan because I identify with his struggle, and I'm a Scarlett fan because I think the scene needs more female (and trans*, for that matter) players. There are certain players, like the above, or teams, like Liquid, who I'll always root for, regardless of the results they're posting, simply because I like them. I'm not sure why this seems to offend you.
There is nothing wrong with you liking and being a fan of Scarlett even if she went 0-100. It's just some fanboys who are already considering her the best and refusing to admit that her being transgender was the main cause of her instant fame. I have become a fan of Incontrol not because of his skill, but because of his overall personality. That doesn't mean i can't be honest and not overhype him more than he is as a player. Which is how i feel about about most of the Scarlett bandwagon hoppers.
