This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here. Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue. Keep it civil.NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/ |

You guys really don't understand how we don't care your surreal distinction of PKK/YPG, it's no different than ISIS/AL QAEDA to us, but I'm assuming you will understand it like 20 years after as usual. Don't expect me to side with any YPG or PKK sympathizers ever, it makes my day whenever we bomb them, why would I care if they got a little kickin. Don't want to turn this into us politics website feedback thread 2.0, but while the post has a despicable opinion, it doesn't seem to break any rules. At least for the politics threads.
Velr got banned for saying "fuck trump voters" (not exact quote, but CBA finding it). Which obviously should be banned. I'm just not sure how it is then ok to wish for violence/death towards protesters?
But you are right, let's not stray from the path and leave it be. Thanks for the laugh seeker
I'm pretty impressed by the mod teams patience overall though.

I don't want to comment on moderation, bit i would say it really really depends by whom.
Maybe they should have let Velr elaborate.

Meh I feel that what Velr said is a 100% surefire ban every time in any thread, but especially in a politics thread. You are really not there for discussion if you have so much contempt for someone with differing political views.

People in the thread voted for Trump, so he was directly attacking forum members. We don't allow that.

Understand me, I completely get the ban and so does Velr. But rejoicing on peaceful protesters being beaten up is considerably worse by any standard.

Yay. US politics feedback feedback thread!

honestly, the best way to moderate the politics thread is arbitrarily. create such an aura of fear that everyone will be so concerned for their posting ability that they will be afraid to say anything even somewhat controversial. the tone of the thread will improve overall and then you can just stop moderating it because the fear will be so deeply ingrained in all posters that they will never step over (or even near) the line.
also, refuse to respond to any request for the reasons for the ban, and make the ban reason "because."
|
Huh it never occured to me to make an offensively named account in an attempt to get the ABL thread's name to include said offensive name.
Fortunately we don't have to post the ban to the banlist.

I seem to recollect reading of a monkey experiment confirming this approach to work so we should be good to go.

I like to think that everyone participating in the discussion is a mature adult that can control their emotions so I'm not a big fan of this scare tactic, though I can understand its use and benefits.

He takes a page out of the politics mega-thread book and loudly asserts his correctness while ignoring any evidence to the contrary.

What if I told you that there is a thread on TL where certain people (cough cough Acro and Magpie, cough cough) have been discussing religion for several dozens of pages? Would someone go there a temp it up a little, or would it end up in some boring cautionary post in the thread?

That was a purely hypothetical question of course, I am no snitch an wouldn't give my friends from the stupid QA thread to the authorities like that.

I still hovered your post to look for a hidden link à la fluidrone. Just in case. (Yes I could just quote your post to check directly, but less fun.)

There are hidden links in fluidrone's posts? Do I now have to go through all of them to find out? You can't do this to meeeee ....
