It has been a while since I wanted to stream again, and I had lot of people asking me for it, so now that I finally have a computer at my disposal to do so and that everything has been setup properly (hopefully), here I am.
For those who don't know who I am, I'm a french Terran player who moved to Korea on my own in October 2010 to compete in the GSL, but unfortunately didn't make it yet.
However I'm still living there in the GOM house, and intend on staying and practicing here as long as I possibly can. I'll be playing the next code A qualifiers later this month, and I'll make sure that I don't screw it up this time.
I will be streaming my practice games on the Korean ladder as well as custom games.
Also I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should talk during my games instead of listening to music, so that's something I'dd like you guys to let me know.
If you have any questions etc feel free to PM me here.

Question you don't have to answer: How are you able to afford living in SK as a full-time(?) gamer? Bunch of funds saved up?
Yes, mostly funds saved up.
Also since I'm in the GOM house I don't need to pay a rent anymore, and it makes things a LOT easier, the biggest problem here is to find a place to live and practice, the food is quite cheap and so is the subway
Fantastic! I look forward to watching you play. Really sad that I had to leave before we got to hang out more but good luck in the qualifiers, you've got tough competition ^^
It's my own personal collection with mixes found on the internet, my playlist on youtube and a few other tunes that I have on my computer.
Also about running into top end Korean players in the GSL, I used to meet them from time to time a few months ago but since then with all the smurfs people use in here to hide strategies now I can't really tell when I play them or not.
Short update, I'm not streaming recently (since 1 week now) due to the world championships, I will probably start again when those are over.
I also want to tell the people who were supporting me for the qualifiers how sorry I am for not doing my part and actually qualify, I'll make sure I don't lose again so close to the qualification next time.
I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure I at least beat RainBOw, jooktojung, OdinMVP and some other fOu guys highly ranked on the ladder, like TopClassfOu who qualified this sunday.

Also wondering on this lol, nick is 100% similar. =p
Ok I'll make this clear once and for all (I hope), I got this nickname before I knew about him, so no I didn't steal it, capital A looks just way cooler so I'm not surprised someone else in the whole world wrote it the same way.
And no I'm not planning on changing it because of it, I don't see why I should, if it gets confusing for people later I will probably have to but for now it's not an issue and as that's the nickname I'm known by in the games I played previously I'm not changing it.
Hey were we in the same diamond division before masters was added? I remember a Carn in my division. We met a bunch of times on the ladder. edit: typo;spelling. second edit: Forgot to add! good luck to you of course ^_^v

Always would love to hear some commentary or just your thoughts/ramblings related to strategies or decision making or what not, you can talk over music if you want, just lower it's volume a bit.,

I watched a little your stream after the VOD of Pomf&Thud. Great skills here, I hope you'll get into the GSL. However, does anyone know why it is not possible to set the stream to 480p or 320p, like it is usually possible on Justin.tv ? I have sometimes some lags because of my bad connection...

I'll try to see how to enable this, if anyone knows please pm me how !
Ok I think I have mic working so now I'll be talking about my thoughts ingame too.
Also I've took the time to make a replay pack as I got lot of requests about it, so here it is, I've tried to get as many good/funny games and games against KR grandmasters / notable players or other players relatively high on the korean ladder as possible. You'll find old replays too but I had no choice since my last days playing I didn't have the save all replays options enabled... I lost lots of good replays because of that, so for now thats what I got.
Read the thread, it is a coincidence. The answer is no.
On topic, great music, HUGE thanks for posting the playlists in the OP. Once my computer comes I will for sure DL your replays, I have seen some really sick decision making and micro on your stream.
What is the GOM foreigner house like? Do you guys have a team meeting to go over strategies or replays? Or is it every man for himself? I hope you get to think the game through with others instead of just laddering.
sick banshee micro.i appreciate your stream. a lot of the foreigners do not get enough exposure to the korean scene. btw, how did they work everything out for your korea sc2 account? is there access to a korean account outside of korea?

Very entertaining stream, thank you.
No lol there is nothing planned like that, it just happens when a strategy subject is brought up for whatever the reason.

They provided us korea sc2 account, yes. I'm playing on my own one tho now, and you can't get one if you're not a korean citizen so you need someone to do it for you
Bump for cArn- , more people need to check out his stream. Not only is the exposure to the KR ladder nice but he's a very talented player none the less!
epic stream! been playing terran for this first time this season and your stream is a flood of great knowledge im also dling replay pack to learn from you :D! keep it up its awesome to see you play.
You have become my staple Terran stream. Amazing micro, beautifully execute strats, and amazing consistency. Definitely subscribed and will be watching VODs/replays during breaks!
Bad music, opened stream expecting high quality korean ladder that i've seen in the past and was bombarded by the low quality dota of LOL played by a reasonably bad player after watching a few minutes.
Sorry man... Go back to starcraft 2 and ask a nice TL admin to make a playlist that american males 15-25 would appreciate more than "tear drops for you"
Bonjour, Love your stream , been following you for a few weeks now and I love it. However , I must say that the music is very , very repetetive :/ But your performance and stream outweight that factor by 120% Keep ownin'
first thanks everyone for your support, appreciate it :p
Also as Korean servers are down for now (probably for the patch) and I don't feel playing on any other servers will be really worth it to practice, I'm taking the time to refine some builds and craft some others based on stategies I've been thinking about lately, while talking about it.
I thought it would be interesting, and might do it more often on stream if people are actually interested in seeing this process.
hey man, gorgeous stream the combo of great music with your sick banshee micro always amazes. if only i could make my steam look as smooth as yours keep doing what youre doing, glhf
I really like your streaming especially when you're doing some commentating and so on, but you should be careful about who you pick as a moderator, "jesushooves" is being a total **** and just giving random time outs and clearing the chat to delete evidences... somehow ruins the streaming not being able to interact :<

Honestly, I see a lot of truth in this post... He's been bming and then banning a lot of people then clearing chat.
but nonetheless, great stream cArn, keep it up. love the music + play + commentating especially when you tell us your though process after scouting.
Yeah I'm gonna upload a more recent replay pack soon.
Also yes I'm still in Korea so it's normal you didn't see me in any tournament yet, will have to wait next code A tournament and the weekly cups iCCup is going to organize on Korean servers in the near future.
Well as it was way easier than I expected to find the replays I uploaded my 2nd replay pack.
About the matchups :
- TvP : 19 - TvZ : 10 - TvT : 12
Lots of TvP as there are only protosses in here - - It contains mostly games against top masters / GM players from Korean server, with a couple famous players (I had lot more games like that but I lost them.. tt)
Hey Carn! I really love your TvZ style of a fast expand, with a blue flame follow up, into a critical mass of Thors that you seem to push with at around 160 food. Any guide around where I can try and study this build? Looks fun as hell.
Hello cArn-!!! I dont know if you read this, but i just registered on the Liquid Website to leave a comment here.
Im really amased by you! I love your stream, you listening to awsome music, and you play fantastic. Last time i watched you for hours and it was then when it was almost 6am in Korea you started playing a Zergling / Marines Micro Map that was really awsome. First i thought you just play it for a few minutes for a little break before going to bed or doing another match, but then you played that one map for over one hour and i just realised you dont do this only for fun, thats really hard work as a progamer. Trying to improve in every possible way, that really makes me look up to you, much respect to you, i really hope you can play soon in some big tournaments, i will cheer for you if i see you in a Tournamen Grid.
Thanks again for your streaming (Korean SC2 sounds really nice, puts one in the right progamer mood xD), hope your days in Korea are fun, greets from Austria, your fan ot4
*EDIT* By the way, something i wanted to ask you, are you in contact with "ToD"? I know about him from WarCraft 3 and heared hes now also playing SC2 in Korea, maybe you two would be a great frensh 2on2 Fun Team
Keep on keeping on Carn omg I love your stream so much, so hard to find someone who streams for hours and hours and continues to be a baller after a couple losses, you never cease to impress!

Nah I never met ToD personnally, I left France for Korea before he started playing SC2 competitively.
good play and alot of streaming time. but you should consider changing your id into something like "nevergg" ;-D just kidding. keep streaming up and gl in korea!
Hope to see your stream sooon again, a night without you streaming is not a goo night... glglglgl in korea, whens the next big tournamen / cup you will be playing?
well I'll be playing in all SEA go4sc2s I think ; I played in the one this sunday. The GSL quals are in 3 weeks, and I'll also be playing the iCCup Korean tournaments coming up.
I'll be streaming after NASL today, I didn't yesterday after the go4sc2 cause my hand was hurting quite a lot so I prefered to rest instead p
_____________________
In english : I was just asking cArn if he could share a replay (i couldn't find it in his 2 packs). The game was a TvP on Scrap on which he proxied with 2 rax+supply and locked all P's probe in a corner with a supply trick
EDIT : Indeed, Replay from pack #1 named : TvR Lolol.....didn't saw it because in my name the map name was " ?????" without the picture of the map
*EDIT2* Please Help carn! there is one song you always play when you stream, today i heard it 2 times, i need this song, any chance to find out the name? i try to find it in one of your vods.
Realize your Mods aren't doing a good job of moderating shit... I was temp banned for "posting porn links." I did no such thing, then the excuse that was given for why I was banned was because i said Protoss is not a noob race. I'm not trying to be rude, but unnecessary banning decreases your view count.
Hey cArn-! Watching your stream right now, loving it!
I've checked out the songs you listen to frequently on youtube, but the music you're playing right now isn't listed. Right now it's more electro-style and I've just heard some awesome songs, can you add these to your youtube links or something? Thanks a lot man and keep on playing!
Registering to say: Please tell me the name of that mashup you played last night. I've gone through all your listed tracks and can't find it...please...I need this...
I never really feel comfortable to post on forums, but I had to say something... I love to watch your stream, mr cArn-, I'll keep my fingers crossed you'll get into the GSL soon. Keep up the good work and don't stop your gaming career! \o/
cArn, you rock. I've been using your hellion/thor build against zergs and it's been working out great. Also, you are ALWAYS streaming. I have to wonder if you ever sleep. Keep up the fantastic work!
Haha I've also used that 3fact hellion thor build, or at least a variation. And the low-mid zerg masters players I play have no idea what to do against it.
At what time do you usually stream (CEST)? Would be great if you could comment during your game every now and then. I'm curious about your strats and what goes through your mind when you play. Your music is pretty good too so don't comment too much ;D

Greetz and good luck.
I was doing some commentary but I stopped since my headset broke, I'll try to see if my earphones' mic is enough for this. There is no real time I regularly stream at, it really depends on what my sleep schedule looks like at the time, but when I start I usually stream for the whole day / night, so it's not hard to catch. I don't think i'll be streaming more until next week tho, I need to focus on other things.
On June 17 2011 06:07 Razith wrote: hey cArn I hope everything has been going well for you. I still hop into your stream and watch you play every now and again.
I was curious as to what your graphics settings were; I really liked how you had them set up.
GL & HF for the Code A qualifiers today, I'm gonna be there as well and try not to lose in the first round xD Do you know in which bracket you are & at what time you will play?
Hope you can get back to streaming soon cArn, I always watch your stream; it really helps me improve my gameplay!
I was wondering what you use for your control groups? I'm currently using a pretty weird setup for my control groups (1-cc's, 2-army,3-production,4-5army,6+ open) and am looking to change it to something more optimal. I do decently well with that setup but eventually I think it may slow me down.
I was thinking 1,2,3 Army, 4-cc, 5-rax, 6-factory, 7-starport, 8+ open. I was also thinkin of combining all my Rax/fact/star to 5 too. What do you think?
I want to change it so i have 1 2 3 4 army, 5 all production, 6 CC or something similar, didnt take the time yet to get used to that yet.
control groups is up to you anyway, as long as you make sure you have enough hotkeys for your units the only concern is to be confortable with it. Some hotkeys are better than others tho, idealy you want to have the hotkey to get to your production to use a different finger than the ones to build the units so you can be faster, same with the units and their spells.
Just saw on French eSport websites that you enlisted in eSahara's team. Will you make a statement about that ? Does it question your involvment in Korea, why did you choose that team (new to sc2) ?
On one hand I'm so eager to see you play in France (young blood heavily needed), but on the other hand I've a bad feeling for you future involvement in Korea
Nah my main focus stays Korea, so I'm gonna stay here as long as I can. My involvment in Korea won't change until I have no other choice than leaving, or change my mind (very unlikely).
Good to know I've read your interview on aAa's website. I'm a bit sad you haven't found any Korean team but I guess eSahara can bring you a lot and it's always better to have the support of a team. It's also very nice to see you that focused on Korea, great determination ! I wish there will be more news about you in France, what you are doing is amazing and deserve a proper coverage !
I'm not streaming anymore because I don't have a setup allowing me to do so at the moment. I should be streaming while in Paris for the ESWC during this month until I leave for the PPSL early November. I like streaming so it's definetely in my plans to do it again on regular basis as soon as I can
I'll stay in France for a couple weeks after ESWC and leave for the PPSL. PPSL is Philippines Pro Starcraft II League, they seem to be doing quite a lot to promote eSports back there (team AZK is responsible for all of this I think) , I've been invited to play in the live event early November in Philippines, which is also gonna be an offline qualifier for the IPL 4. Lots of good players will be attending so it's gonna be a good tournament imo.
After that yeah I'll most probably go back to Korea, I still want to stay there, if I can find a stable place/team to practice with there. I'm not planning on leaving Korea, the only case I would do that is if I decide to play DotA 2 competitively again on top of SC2, I might have to go back to Europe if that happens.
I'm back in Korea and finally able to stream again ! I'll be streaming all my practice from Korea at the same pace as before, and some DotA 2 as well from time to time when I'm not practising.
Streaming a couple DotA 2 games before going to bed cuz I'm too tired to practice right now, but tomorrow the grinding starts again.
Happy to be back and hope it stays this way this time around !
ps : By the way sorry for the huge disappointment that were my performances at recent events, I'll post some more details about it later, maybe as a blog.

Hey, I hope you'll be able to get decent practice condition good luck!
It's easier to get into Code A nowadays, and, while still hard, the qualifiers from now are definitely your best shot at getting into Code A. You can do it.
Hello, just to say that I'm streaming right now, and as I've had quite a few people asking, and I've been thinking about it I'll start offering coaching too. I didn't want to but I think it can benefit me too in a way. Fee is not decided yet, maybe around 30 or 40.
