| i know i dont want to start any religious war flaming or anything but i have to know.. what do you think of jw? because i have talked to some of them before and found it was like any other religion but people say they are a big cult and stuff... is this true? |

They are just to cheap to buy presents so they cut in on holidays.
(Yes i think its a stupid cult, anything that doesnt allow you to have fun kinda sucks.) |

| i read they dont celebreate christmas and stuff because it was said that the pegans started the holiday or some group and those people were against jesus so the jw figure why celebrate a bad groups holiday |

not true, jw give presents all throughout the year, why be forced to do something nice for someone? and yes what Atlantas said was right, christmas dates back to pagan teachings, (how could sheep and farmers be out in bethlehem in freezing cold weather? --a) so why celebrate something false?Last edit: 2003-10-25 23:47:26 |

I had a JW friend in elementry school, he and his family seemed normal to me. He was Korean and good at video games -- go figure  . We played nintendo... he taught me to eat Raman noodles raw, with just a sprinkling of the MSG crap for flavor. Too bad his family moved away and we never kept in touch.
They never tried to convert me or anything. The only thing I know about JW is sometimes they would leave Watchtower magazines at our door, and they aren't allowed to get blood transfusions. |

| jw's dont try to convert, they simply bring out what the bible says, and let others decide for themselves, sure jw have strict guidlines that they adhere by, but only because they try to appeal to God. The bible brings out to teach others about God's word, thats what Jw do, they aren't extremists, just trying to teach others. That's all. |

Did you know that these Jehovah noobs once went on a mountain for several days and waited for a big flood which never came (surprice!). I bet their believes were well... hehehe. Personally the only thing you can get from a Jehovah is a good laugh plus a pain in the ass.

actually, i dont think we should generalize the whole JW society, i mean, i can understand getting pissed off when someone tries to convert u..that's just not cool.
but my point is, it's not just SOME jw..i have had some christian, catholic friends trying the conversion thing, and...i hate them, and i'd hate htem just as much if they were jw.
maybe their community is a little bit more secluded, but i'm sure not all of them want to go out and convert their friends, just as not all christians would do the same.
oh..and i dont really believe in any religion. |
