I think it's more like WoW, hard to say, I haven't played L2, I've only seen friends play and videos online, whereas I've played WoW. What I can say is my forte was Korean micro-transaction based mmo's, except for short stints in DAoC and WoW, and this game draws quite a bit from Korean games, it's a bit more of a grind than WoW (but PvP and PvPvE is a good way to level apparently), it has stuff like personnal shops that you can set up while you afk amongst other things.

Yeah all my friends are addicted to this game. We have a mid-term that starts in 2 hours and there at there dorms playing Aion. This is officially the new WoW!
