[Q] Fun, Not so standard Protoss BOs

I just recently changed from T to P but my first race was Zerg so im use to being aggressive play (Terran made me turtle :l). I dont know ANY Protoss BOs except Forge FE and 1Gate Tech. they will bore me to death like 1Fact FE and 12Hatch did so im wondering if there are Protoss build orders that are out of the ordinary and are fun to use (i.e 2Port Wraith, fantasy build, etc.)

DTs are an exception because i find them Standard >>...

I made this build, and it is very fun
**disclaimer**this is not a good build
I used it PvT. 8/9 pylon
10 gas
11 gate
14~ core
you should have around 360 gas when your core is done, make a robotics
wait on the 40 gas, and make second robotics

terran will be surprised how many reavers you will be dropping on him soon

i'm going to reiterate something: i would not use this build on iccup, or in a serious game where i'm wanting to prove i'm better than someone. if i'm playing on a public PvT 1v1 on lost temple or something on useast though, and i want to do something weird and fun, i might do this.

another build order you might want to try is the stove, popularized by sky.proct against hellghost the brazilian. it's a 1 gate tech build, where you go scout->dt->fast arb.
i got blisters on me fingers

4pylon, 5-6 gate, proceed with super early zlot and probe production. Transition into something else after you are satisfied with this rush. I have never seen this done.

chameleonia   United States. November 05 2009 15:32. Posts 510Profile Blog
I used to play around with a 6gate build vs zerg. Basically it gets you a really fast 1st zealot and then lets you rely on your micro to steal some drone kills. Against a 9pool you really have to still steal a few drone kills to break even, but its really good (well, at least fun) against 12 hatch builds.

PvT you have lots of options: you can do dts into 2base arbs, or check out the recent Horang2 vs Frozean game from osl group stage where + Show Spoiler +
, or you can try reaver drops with a proxy robo, or on some maps there are fun proxy gate things you can do ( especially on hbr and destination)

PvP... is boring, only a couple options are possible early on and any variation makes it very likely to turn into a game of rock paper scissors

6pylon 6gate is smoother and less economically crippling

If you thought the 2-port Wraith build was fun, wait until you try the infamous 2 stargate scout build!!! What does it involve you ask? Well, First and foremost, unlike the 2 port build, the 2 stargate build looks to completely destroy the opponent, almost like an all-in build! Tech standardly as you would on any other build (but upgrade +1 air attack rather than goon range), but once your core is up, throw down 2 stargates! Make sure you build your fleet beacon while you are building your first 2 scouts, and build an expansion when you can. Once you have 4 scouts out, send them towards your opponents base and start wreaking havoc! Begin researching scout speed as soon as you can, and keep adding stargates as you are able to, constantly pumping out scouts. Before you know it, you should win the game easily!!!

Vs terran :
The stove. 1 base / 2 base carriers.

12 nexus. Proxy robotics - This is my favorite.

Bulldog- get 3 gateways, a shuttle, and 4 zealots off 1 base (I think, usually) and attempt to bust through their nat by taking out key tanks with your zeals.

One of my favorite strategies is to skip reavers and just elevator 10 or so goons directly into the terran main. It works especially well on destination, where the main is really large and you can get easily a control group of goons up there out of sight of a normal terran base.

Mass dark templar is another.
PvZ :
Movie's mass goon strat. (Watch his game vs Jaedong on HBR).

Sair/Reaver - This is the equivalent of 2 port wraith, except that it's considerably harder to pull off.
There are lots of transitions from Sair/reaver, but Sair/reaver into Sair/Carrier with dweb is frightening.

Forge first 1 base play. (Stork used this for a while, it's a rush to +1 weapons and then an immediate attack before lair/hydras can be made. Plus, your opponent will just think that you're a total newb and laugh until their lings are dead).

6 pylon 7 gate. It's a really old build but there is an interesting thread on its viability on TL, the idea is that you're guaranteed to do economic damage enough to offset your losses.

PvP :
Mostly just proxies of various kinds.

Bulldog is off 2 base when you don't take your third(or fake it if possible) and instead add extra gateways and get a shuttle to do what you explained. It works really well at low levels actually because players have bad mechanics and often try to do a timing push when you would have normally taken your 3rd, they take their 3rd early, etc.

one fun thing you can try in mid-lategame pvp is making a darchon or 2 and trying to feedback your opponents hts, or if your feeling really cute you can try to research mind control very early and zap a shuttle (good luck on that one...)

PVP:
4-gate goon is my favorite non-standard build. You lose to dt, but in most other cases the contain lets you get back into the game.
HBR: Bisu proxy.

PvT:
In base proxy, wall off choke, blocking vulture until goons pop.

PvZ:
Cut probes and zealots for early corsair!

You cant settle with just being #1 in the world. There is no such thing as staying the same and remaining #1. You either go up or you go down, and if your not trying to improve and go up, then you will fall down.

Well, I wouldn't really call this a fun build but it usually catches some players off guard and I've had great success with this build.

This build is mainly to counter a 2 gate in PvP.

8 pylon
10 gate
12 gas
13 zealot
13 probe
16 pylon
constant zeal production
keep 2 probes on gas
add another gate when you have money

You will want to scout his zealot count and appropriately increase yours to counter
Core once you feel safe that you can counter his zealot count
Add third probe to gas once you start core
Robo and Citadel right when core is done.
Build around 2 goons.
Shuttle and observatory when robo is done
Archives when citadel is done
Obs after shuttle at ramp to defend any DT
Build 2 DTs
Drop 2 DTs into main of P

As you started gas mining pretty early, you will have enough gas to support all the heavy tech that you are using. Most Ps that I've played when I used this build didn't have cannons at the main nexus to detect DT. Most just put them at nat choke at this point and they would have started nat expo.

You basically destroy main nexus and probes.
