Ok. I use to play zvp in a style similar to an n_dieSoo replay [where he goes lurker crackling and thats about it], but I don't really think thats effective on most maps, against most players. It just doesn't seem stable enough. As for 5 hatch hydra and those general variations, I don't think it really suits my style and im bad at it. I've been thinking that I should play more like Luxury, and Savior in terms of zvp- lurker, spore, sunken colony, mass up. But honestly, I have no replays of it, or general idea of the opening build. No reference material. So basically my question is, what is the appropriate build order when you intend to play this style, and any kind of related tips?

I know this is pretty general and theres no replay, but I need it pretty general and I haven't attempted it yet, having no clue on how to go about it.

Any help/advice appreciated!

LurkerLing is very stable, for examples look at the pro scene, it's slowly creeped back into play and become most-used on HBR. There's a few good replays of it in the TL rep section too, suae[kal] reps especially.

For turtling with Lurkers and Spores honestly I can only remember Dimaga playing this sort of style.. find some replays of him

!?! Savior always played a very turtleish style...just look at last night for an extreme example of that, and Luxury plays a turtle zvp style when he isnt busy all-ing every protoss in sight.

Edit: Thanks synth, ill look up those replays.

Luxury played virtually exclusively 5hatch hydra/muta openings at that time. You are thinking of before 5hatch hydra came around.

I recall Luxury turtling with lurker+sunken+muta in the MSL finals on harmony and carthage at the very least, and don't remember anything about the other 2 games.

p.s. ignore everything I said, I thought hes talking when should he use lurker/ling instead of hydra into stuff.

When I read theads like this it always seems to me like a trolling thread, but I guess you are really asking for a help. Well, you should play lurkerling whenever your oponent makes too many zealots and too few goons/high templars. However, It's not neccissary for P to make such mistake, but it's more advantageous. You should also take your army management skills into consideration, when u attack, you gotta flank at a nice angle with your lings, and burrow the lurks seperately. If it's too hard for you, dont do it in serious games (unless the purpose is to learn).

Those were really the only games I remember him playing like that around that time.

wait a sec, first of all, when we were all noobs at sc, didnt the more experienced players tell us to NEVER turtle?

this might be completely different from what u guys think, but personally, i believe that having great defense and playing defensively are 2 dif things.

u can have great defense, but be focused on offense. this is what ppl like bisu and JD have (no surprise there)

playing defensively leads to bad, bad things. luxury did it, and then he sucked like hell. he didnt stop this slump until the start of the 09-10 season. n.Die_Soo did it, but SOO IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. savior did it, but savior is savior, and when u get that good, u can do whatever u want to whoever u want, and still win.

so in the end, i urge u to have great defense, but not play defensively, and DEFINITELY NOT TURTLE.

hope this helps

Or in pvp island maps with very small amounts of min left, defense is the best offense.
