For people who are confused. Worldwide closed beta means only people with beta keys, these are people that has a beta key from blizzcon and contests and so on.

They said they wanted to do 4-6 months on the SC2 beta last year, don't know what they feel now. They said they want a mid 2010 release so probably 3-4 months!
I have an unused beta code from WWI 2008. Can I use this to access the StarCraft II beta?
If you have an unused beta code from WWI 2008, you will be able to use the code to gain entry to the European phase of the StarCraft II beta. If you have already claimed your WWI code to receive an invitation to a previous beta but did not end up using that invitation, you will not be able to use your WWI code or invitation for the StarCraft II beta. Please note that beta codes received at other WWI or BlizzCon events (except BlizzCon 2008) will not grant you entry into the StarCraft II beta.
I believe the word "global" was used during the cast today, but this is probably worth clarifying for all SC fans across the world
Today's information appeared in conflict with Blizzard's older beta FAQ, and some interpreted "global" as referring to Blizzcon/BWII codes.
http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=16903634489&sid=3000 North America will be the first region to begin beta testing, and other regions will follow afterward in phases. The reason for setting up the beta in regional phases is that it takes time to set up and configure our testing infrastructure in each area. Bringing up one region at a time makes the overall testing process for StarCraft II and Battle.net more efficient from a development perspective, making the test more effective, and allowing us to complete the game more quickly than if we attempted to start the beta test in all regions at the same time. We will share more information about the start dates for the beta in different regions at a later date.
A few minutes ago, Avarius cleared up any confusion and confirmed the beta would start simultaneously across the globe. http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=23141113880&sid=3000&pageNo=6#113 For everyone asking, we are targeting a global release for the start of the beta. Cheers to everyone outside NA/New zealand/Australia :D

Not at all. People without beta still get infinite VODs, updates on balancing, analysis and commentary from ballers like Day[9], and most importantly, the sooner beta's released the sooner the game is released.
No we don't have to wait a year..Mike clearly said mid-2010 release, so even if there's a major delay no one's waiting a year. They are definitely releasing in 2010, they want it to be the biggest year in the history of Blizzard.
Not to mention the large possibility that a cracked beta will leak into torrent sites.
If the beta gets cracked the full game will be delayed for ages till they find a way to prevent it.
It won't delay the game. Blizzard knows their game is going to get cracked for offline play already.

So I am guessing there are not a lot of Australians with keys and we are a very important part of the beta testing stage because of how far away and isolated we are. Australians in early testing will help identify any minimise any lag or latency issues.
