Yeah, and him boldly saying that he is better than and can beat anyone other than HasuObs at the WCS German Qualifier in an interview with Soe just prior to that wasn't really helpful, either.
Please work on that, Dario. No more arrogant overconfidence. Just be humble and win.

That's not overconfidence, that's a fact. Nothing wrong with stating the truth. Losing one Bo3 doesn't make him a worse player nor does it mean that some non-existent overconfidence blew up in his face.
EDIT: I forgot Socke, but saying that he's better than ONE player who is likely better than him doesn't mean overconfidence.Last edit: 2012-06-03 00:29:33 |

It's not a fact and will not become a fact just because you keep repeating that in your head. TLO has critized himself for being too arrogant and overconfident a number of times in the past. Today it was unfortunately on display again.

| i am not too worried about it. His mind set for practicing in korea seems amazing and he is logging 9 hours a day on the korean server. He was one game away from making Code A for only practicing a week in Korea. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a serious code A player inside a couple of months. |

| Yep, after a day of being frustrated I`m not that pessimistic anymore. Still, I don`t think it is all about just training a lot. Sure, he will develop his mechanics even further (which could make a considerable difference vs European opponents if he would get really top notch in that area). But I don`t think that more than his mechanics there are two factors that play a more crucial role and that cannot be cured by just playing a lot. The first one is that when things are getting decisive TLO is very likely to opt for an overagressive / risky play. In most cases this choice backfires. The second is that he switches his builds very frequently and thus never really gets to a point where his play gets "super-solid". I think Zenio is a similar case. Both are pretty good skillwise but as their style varies that often they tend to have holes in their play that a very repetitive-minded player usually hasn`t. I think TLO certainly has the ability to go further but what he really needs imo is just to refrain from mindgames develop a save style that carries him well into the lategame and from then on he just has to master the lategame in the various matchups. |

I have to agree. Those are not the healthiest thoughts a competitor should be having before a match. It's even worse having actually spoken them out loud. I haven't seen the games, but I was quite surprised he would say something like that given the amount of effort he's put into developing the correct competitive mindset. |

| How hypocritical would it be to accept a Code A seed now after saying multiple times he wouldn't accept one because one should only deserve it by qualifying!? |

I went back to the stream recording to find the relevant bit as I also missed it before. Here's the link and a transcript of what was said in German between Monchi and TaKe, plus a translation to English:
http://www.twitch.tv/taketv/b/320107059?t=2h50m48s
Monchi:"Von TLO sieht man ja relativ wenig. Der is ja immer in Korea irgendwie, ne?" "You don't hear much about TLO really. Somehow he's in Korea all the time, right?" TaKe: Monchi:"Spielt auch Code A jetzt, glaub ich. Also, ich glaub... grad vorher, also nicht mit ihm geredet, ich hab nur gehört wie er mit dem anderen geredet hat, und er hat gesagt irgendwie..." "Will also play Code A now, I believe. Well, I think.... just prior, didn't speak to him myself, but I heard him talk to someone else and he said somehow..." TaKe:"Er kriegt jetzt nen Seed." "He gets a seed now." Monchi:"...er hat einen... er hat einen Code A Seed, er muss sich nicht mehr qualifizieren dafür." "...he's got a... he's got a Code A seed, he does not have to qualify for it anymore." Monchi:"Das heißt, er fliegt dann zurück und spielt direkt GSL. Schon nen Hammer." "That means he will fly back later and directly play in GSL. Pretty amazing." TaKe:"Ja, ich bin gespannt wie er sich schlägt." "Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how he will do."

that's how I feel as well. To add, his playstyle seems to be not so good as a zerg, if you compared to more solid macro zergs like dimaga, sheth or ret, they will always have a more solid higher drone count throughout the game. Or comparing him to more aggressive zergs like nerchio, he doesn't make good judgement on when to commit and therefore always play from behind |
