Please tell me that no Dragon Pokemon get that Contrary Ability (reverses your stat changes). Because that+Draco Meteor=GG
Edit: Hmm. Serperior can get it through Dream World. That with Leaf Storm could actually help its otherwise mediocre Special Attack a lot.

Gen 5 is deffinitly the trick room generation
- Reniculous (can use trick room)
- Cofigrigus (can use trick room)
- Conkuldurr (SLOOOOOOOOOOOW during trick room)
- Druddigon (SLOOOOOOOOOOOW and powerful dragon type)
Lots of other good trick room pokes as well... even chandelure with 0 IVs and negative nature...

Wasn't really naming everyone, but ya Ferrothorn with 0 IVs and negative speed nature along with gyroball = OW and walls VERY well
Escavalier has 20 speed... HUGE attack and def and bug/steel typing. He hits like a TRUCK. and moves faster than mostly everyone in a trick room.

I do agree Hydreigon is probably the best, good movepool, good SpAtk. But suffers the same problems as a lot of the Gen V pokemon, Speed.
Hydreigon is an awesome specs user, and can also be a wall-breaker or a scarf user (i've never liked it scarfed personally). Speed is decent enough but there's no way it's sweep and shouldn't be played tht way.
I knew as soon as I saw it tht Haxorus would not be tht good, but ppl still hyped it so much anyway. Sure, it's attack is huge but it dosen't have the speed or bulk to use it consistently.
Druddigon is just a bad pokemon with a niche tht makes him somewat usable. He's a decent TR user but tht's all it will ever be, it is just completely outclassed.
The main problem with the 5th gen dragons are tht it has competition for a spot in your team. Scarfchomp is so efficient tht u would rarely consider another dragon over it for its role, and having more than 2 dragons on a team is pretty risky. |

I don't see Hydreigon being that good of a specs user. His speed is decent, yes, but all of his counters are faster already...and he has A LOT of counters. Dark typing is pretty shit these days because everything has either Focus Blast or CC. Anything that is going to pray on its Dragon weaknesses is faster. I see it as a good Scarf user, access to Draco Meteor + SpAtk focused could open up some avenues of real use.
I really hate Dark Type as an attacking type too. Dark type moves are seriously lacking a 120 power skill...hell they don't even have a 100 power skill. Dark Pulse on its own is actually rather weak. The only reason Darkrai is in Ubers is because of its access to Dark Void coupled with Nasty Plot allowing it to setup NP's on anything it damn well pleases. | I just basically ran through the game with Excadrill, Zoroark, Samurott, and Darminatan. Pretty decent type coverage, I didn't have a psychic pokemon though but that's because there's such a lack of Psy poke's in this game, especially ones with speed. And I didn't want to cheese out and use Victini |

Does not compute. After all it wasn't my Victini that practically soloed the E4...it was Swords Dance EQ/X-Scissor/Stone Edge Excadrill that did that.
I don't know why people are like this but just because it's a legendary pokemon doesn't make it cheese. Victini has a shit garbage movepool. 100 to all stats is good but not AWESOME. |

Doesn't really matter in the single player game. Excadrill has great typing, attacking stats, move pool, and speed. If I was able to get an SS off he would sweep. Hell he even swept Ghestis because he had a counter to every Pokemon the guy wielded and OHKO'd them after SS. In addition to this I always balance level my pokemon...so ALL of them were level 50 or so...so it wasn't as if my Excadrill was level 65 to the detriment of my team....Excadrill was just better at killing shit.
My point was that people say Victini is cheese when he really isn't just because he's a legendary. He doesn't learn any good psychic moves at all and doesn't learn good fire moves until you use a move relearner to get him Searing Shot. He also has a shit ton of weaknessess especially considering every enemy pokemon seems to have Crunch. He fills the fire role on your team fairly OKAY but in no way breaks the game if you use him. I love using Porygon2 as my lead on PO. I get a lot of people who immediately rage quit just because I use Magic Coat to send their Stealth Rocks back at them >.>
Why does it let you see what Pokemon your opponent has? It just costed me a game >.>
Edit: I was battling some random guy, and we were both down to our last Pokemon. I had Zapdos, and he had Gliscor. The only thing I could do was use Heat Wave to wear it down, and just when it was about to die (and I was too) it somehow predicted I'd use Roost (I hadn't used it at all, so he had no way of knowing my Zapdos had that move) and one shot me with Earthquake.

There is no move set thats competitive with Zapdos that doesn't have Roost unless it's an odd Choice Scarf/Specs set.. Zapdos is too bulky to not utilize Roost.
That exact scenario is the reason I always war with picking HP Ice Zapdos or HP Grass Zapdos. HP Grass Zapdos totally rapes all ground...but particularly Swampert and its ilk. HP Ice Zapdos deals with Flying/Ground nuisances like Gliscor and also rapes all ground.
These days I'm finding myself using HP Ice more and more because of the Psuedo Bolt/Beam combo you get from it. However, having that Grass attack on Zapdos has saved me loads of times especially because people use Swampert to counter Zapdos generally.Last edit: 2011-03-20 06:11:16 |

Thunder Wave is useful on things that Wall...so if you're running a Defensive Zapdos, particularly a specially defensive one, your set is fine.
If you're running a more offensive oriented Zapdos then Thunder Wave is pretty useless as it's a move you use when you're walling shit to support your team. |

I've always been partial to offensive zapdos. His flying-electric combo allows him to be one of the few electric pokemon that can effectively deal with ground types.
He's usually my life orb user. Big ass stab tbolt damage, good bulk, roost, and hp grass/ice makes him one of my favorite special attackers. |

I'll try to experiment. This is my first gen V team, so it's not very good (ie I have nothing to use against Ghosts). I can probably find a better special wall anyway (besides Blissey).

Why do people like ferro so much?
The lack of a true recovery move and its disgusting weakness to fighting makes me prefer other walls....it can take a draco meteor though, that's rather good |
