Ive been thinking about buying this/these games recently, if anyone would be able to tell me a few cons/pros of each version that would be great, overall which version would you say is best out of the two?

| White is the best because if offers more a better SPECIAL city, the white forest is supposed to be super cool but I never really learned why because I had the black city which just offered assorted trainers the more people you linked with. Some of the version specific pokemon for white were claimed significantly better battle wise(if you don't have access to trading which god-forbid you don't) |

I can check for you. Give me a moment....

Yes. It will keep Unnerve. All Pokemon with a DW ability will keep that ability throughout their evolution line. Seems like an AWESOME ability for this years VGC, I know a lot of people are gonna like this! :D (though shitty for singles)Last edit: 2012-02-15 14:46:59 |

| I am thinking about retarting my pokemon black game and actually finishing the game but my only problem the first time through was that I got stuck at the second gym bc it is so much higher lvl then what you can have at that time. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to beat it or do I just grind all the way there |

Yes the normal type one
2 easy ways:
1) Teach one of those rock type things from the cave rock smash. (I caught a shiny one on my playthrough)
2) Catch one of the fighting types outside the city.
Of course you have to do a bit of leveling to get them on par with your other pokes, but it's fast and easy. All pokemon games are going to require you to grind a bit every time you catch a new pokemon, it's just how it works.Last edit: 2012-02-18 01:38:42 |

If you just explore enough, you don't really need to grind at the earlier gyms.
(If you started with Tepig you have the easiest way possible, just let him evolve, he'll get a fighting type attack, and the gym is an autowin. For me, he evolved just before the gym town) |

From the first FAQ:
GYM LEADER BATTLE
Leader Lenora
Lv. 18 Herdier Type: Normal Moves: Take Down, Bite, Retaliate, Leer Lv. 20 Watchog Type: Normal Moves: Leer, Hypnosis, Retaliate, Crunch
Prize: 2400P, Basic Badge, TM67 - Retaliate
First up is Herdier, the evolved form of Lillipup. It has the Intimidate ability to lower the Attack of your Pokemon. It also has a powerful Take Down which can take out any of your Pokemon that has low Defense. Her Watchog is even stronger and faster. It has the move called "Retaliate" which doubles in power if a teammate has been KOed the last turn. Factoring in STAB, a Retaliate at full strength has a massive 210 power! It will pretty much always use this move right after Herdier faints which means it will do an enormous amount of damage. To make things worse, it also knows Hypnosis to temporarily disable one of your Pokemon which gives it a couple free turns to attack or lower your Defense with Leer.
Even if you have a Pignite, you shouldn't lead with it since Intimidate will make your physical moves weaker. Furthermore Pignite has rather low Defense so it won't be able to survive many attacks. Use a Pokemon that can weaken Herdier first. A good choice would be Roggenrola, who resists Normal and can hit back with Rock Blast. When it's time to bring your Fighting type out, make sure it has a Chesto Berry attached so that it can instantly recover from Watchog's Hypnosis. Strike it with a Fighting type move and it won't be long before it faints.
I picked up a Fighting-type Pokemon before I hit this gym on my playthrough, AND had Tepig, so I had no problems here. |

Full Rules: + Show Spoiler +POKÉMON VIDEO GAME TOURNAMENT FORMATS
Pokémon Organized Play supports several tournament formats for sanctioned play of the Pokémon video games. This document covers each of the approved formats and their variations. Tournaments that do not use one of the formats described here may not be sanctioned. 5. Standard Format Style All sanctioned Pokémon video game tournaments require players to assemble a team of Pokémon, with items, prior to the start of the event. The standard format style for all PLAY! Pokémon tournaments is Double Battle. 5.1. Double Battle In Double Battles, each player selects four Pokémon from his or her party of six to battle with. At the start of the battle, players send out the first two Pokémon in their party, making a total of four Pokémon on the battlefield. Game play continues until a player knocks out all four of his or her opponent’s Pokémon. 6. Standard Team Construction Rules When building a team for a PLAY! Pokémon tournament, all players must adhere to these standard construction rules. - A player’s team cannot contain two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number - Each Pokémon on a player’s team can hold an item, though no two Pokémon may hold the same item - A player’s team cannot contain two Pokémon with the same nickname - A player’s team cannot contain a Pokémon nicknamed with the name of another Pokémon (for example, an Unfezant named “Pidove”)
Pokémon may only use moves that have been learned through one of the following methods: - By leveling up - By TM or HM - As an Egg move, through breeding - From a character in the game - A move already known by a Pokémon received at an official Pokémon event or promotion
7. Sanctioned Format Pokémon Organized Play supports one format for sanctioned play: Modified. Sanctioned events are listed on the POP website, and the results are reported to POP after the event concludes. 7.1. Modified Format The Modified format is the standard tournament format for PLAY! Pokémon video game events. This format will be used at all premier events unless specified otherwise.
The Modified format for the 2011–2012 season will use the following restrictions:
- Only Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Game Cards are permitted for use. - Players may use Pokémon from the National Pokédex, from No. 001–646, that are caught in the game, transferred from a previous Pokémon title, or received at an official event or distribution - The following Pokémon may not be on a player’s team: o 150 – Mewtwo o 151 – Mew o 249 – Lugia o 250 – Ho‐Oh o 251 – Celebi o 382 – Kyogre o 383 – Groudon o 384 – Rayquaza o 385 – Jirachi o 386 – Deoxys o 483 – Dialga o 484 – Palkia o 487 – Giratina o 489 – Phione o 490 – Manaphy o 491 – Darkrai o 492 – Shaymin o 493 – Arceus o 494 – Victini o 643 – Reshiram o 644 – Zekrom o 646 – Kyurem - Pokémon must be placed in the Battle Box. - Pokémon above level 50 are permitted, but they are auto‐leveled down to 50 for the duration of battle. - Players may use Pokémon with Hidden Abilities that have been officially released via Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, the Pokémon Global Link, or an official event or promotion. - Pokémon may not know the moves Sky Drop or Dark Void. - The Wonder Launcher cannot be used during battle.
NOTE: Pretty sure Japan is out again this year. Hopefully we can see them next year. |

You can actually go to Skarmbliss.com and look up mattj's thread. He gives away RNGs for free.
He is the King of RNG, and a truly awesome dude in real life. |

I've been thinking about starting through this game doing one of these "Nuzlocke challenges". Does anyone have any advice?
I'm just gonna be following the basic rules. Catch the first, and they faint they die.
After wards I'll be doing up the Pokedex challenge. (I've got hold of all the versions but HG/R/B)... But the time-event battery in my Sapphire is dead. Is this going to hinder me? |
