I'd like to take a quick survey of the community to see where most players stand in terms of average APM. When I say average APM, I mean your average from game start to game finish using SC2's built in APM meter.
Please try to be as accurate as possible, and vote in your respective league. The goal of this is to see how much in game skill correlates to APM in Starcraft 2, and to gauge the overall APM of the community.

Feel free to post in the thread with more details.
I was last ranked in the gold league before reset. I didn't get around to playing many games because of time constraints but I average 200 apm playing zerg. If I could play more, I believe my true rank would be somewhere around top 20-30 platinum

See most videos of pros and shit all i see is random clicking for no reason to do nothing ... to be like weeee my apm is 300 and 150 of things of use lol.
145 avg to ,,,,

I think most players spam in the beginning to stay warmed up and alert. Besides that, spamming in the beginning or not makes little difference to your average APM once the game ends. (maybe give or take 5-10)

I've seen replays in which a 150+ APM player gets absolutely rolled by a 30-50, in plat. I honestly don't understand the counter system. It really has nothing to do with the number, so much as how you use it. You'll have people that just jump back and forth berween hotkeys, keeping their APM high, yet when they get harassed they freak out and totally lose control of the game.

meh you see it in late game to click for no reason on nothing

People aren't spamming? Most people are under 180 apm?
was that true in bw as well?
|
Really theres no reason to have above 150 apm in this game. You can reach maxium effectiveness in the 150-175 apm range.
|
I averaged in the 40s in Silver. I never spam, but also don't have the multi tasking ability that I would like.

i've been encountering this since wc3 (i didn't play bw). i don't weight APM too highly.

dude, a 330+ APM guy in copper! Awesome!
On topic. I don't really see how you can go over 200 APM. In SCBW, I have a bit over 200 APM at best, and there's a lot of things that I know I could have done if I could click faster. Now I can do absolutely everything with less than 200 APM.
|
platinum league 90 i dont spam. i also think 90-100 is all you need to be amazing in sc2. you do not need higher apm even at higher levels imo. its all spamming beyond that thats all im saying. Cause i have also seen 300 apm et owned by 90 many times.
|
There is no option for Over 9000.
Don't Lucifron and Demuslim play at sub 100.
|
I was ranked 2 platinum, over 1600 points, and only had about 60-90 true APM.
My average was more 121-150 due to massive APM click-whoring ^^
|
yea big i think terran also has on avg less apm then then the races
oops meant to answer willness lol.

I am usually between 40-50, Bronze league. I've been trying to improve, but it's slow and steady. Can any pro's make me feel better by saying that you had low APM when you started playing StarCraft?
|
grrr not another APM thread...it doesn't really make much difference, but I'm going to go ahead and guess that once the game gets popular and properly established, most players will have 200 minimum and most will end up in the 300 range, kind of like what happened in war3 towards the end.
|
I average about 100 APM, but I have peaks over 200 in battles, so I'd say my micro is sufficient for someone who isn't a pro-gamer. More importantly if you control your units the right way high APM doesn't necessarily improve what you're doing.
