Hey guys, first of all i didnt see any troubleshooting section so i just post it here. Since 2 days i had some starcraft 2 issues that made me randomly crash ingame. After some time searching on the internet and not finding anything i just reinstalled the game. After the installation it goes further to the update section. After some time it crashes saying the next thing:
Updatewindow: Starcraft II v0.10.0.14803
Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "C:\Users\Ruud\Desktop\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Assets". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "Assets\Units\Protoss\DarkTemplarDeath\DarkTemplarDeath_00.m3", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)
If tried to reinstal it many times, but it didnt had any effect at all. I have been searching for 2 days now, seeing on the blizzard support forums some people having this problem aswell. But no answers from blizzard yet and no1 with any solution as far as i can find.
Running on windows 7 intel i5 8gb memory ati 4890 80gb SSD hardisk (installed here) 1 tb samsung hardisk
I have been playing for weeks, but since 2 days sc2 is giving problems. If someone can help me out i would be realy thankfull. Atm im gonna run a memory test, i will post the result when i wake up . TY

By reading the description of the error. It says it cannot find/read something in your user directory. Are you correctly logg'd in when you install? 2nd thing I would check is do you have the right access /privileges to that directory/location/file? Lastly, you did your installation on the drive that is 1% less than your main hard drive. Have you tried changing the installion from your 80gb to your 1000 gb drive? If all else fails try another computer. Good luck

i had encountered almost the same problem before. my workaround was simply to right click SC2.exe shortcut, and select "run as administrator".
it worked for me at least.

Op's thing fixed?
If so, I have a little something I am not sure if it is usual or not. For me it is currently updating to 12.1, and it seems to take an USUALLY LONG TIME. Is this normal?
Above the bar it says "Your computer appears to be behind a firewall". Is this why? Windows fw is off, only fw on is in the router.

Thanks roark, extracted the files (seems to be 2 of them) into the Updates folder and the bars still seems to be stalled, erh, I'll just give it a little time.

Yeah just put the whole Updates folder into: ..\StarCraft II Beta\Updates
Then run the game. I know two people that this has worked for. Also go to:
Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall >> Allow a program through windows firewall.
It loads up a list of apps, choose SC2. That might be part of your problem as well.

C:\Users\Ruud\Desktop\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Assets - Have you changed this file in any way whatsoever? The updater is stating that the data in this file is corrupted or cannot be read in some manner. This could also be because the file contents does not meet the MD5 hash that the patch is using. In other words if you've used some kind of custom editor tools / AI / game models etc. that involve changing that file then you will need to revert to the regular version that Blizzard produced.
Specifically the error says that it could not read this: The data being read was "Assets\Units\Protoss\DarkTemplarDeath\DarkTemplarDeath_00.m3", and the error code was 0. So have you been playing with your Dark Templar death sounds i.e. are you running that mod that puts in BW sounds?

If all fails just reinstall. I had this problem with patch 12. I foud a hack solution and got it working then 12.1 came out and sc2 failed again. After that I reinstalled and everything's fine now.

Ok according to my memory test, one of the 4x 2gb was broken so i replaced that one. After that i reinstalled the game on a other harddisk. After that i added the patches myself, now its working again. Ty for those who tried to help me out.

If you run MEMTEST 86 on a 64-bit system it will always show anything past 6 gigs as failing because x86 cannot address past that.

i did 4gb at a time
