| Wait GOM is going to charge to watch streams or anything of the games? If that is true I'll be so pist I am not going to pay for a subscription to watch sc2 games... |

Surely, not KeSPA companies. Good luck finding other big corporations to sponsor SC2 teams, lol.
I thought the progaming teams weren't specific to individual games. Like for example CJ Entus has a Counterstrike team I'm pretty sure. Supposedly Idra is already officially a Starcraft 2 player and hes on CJ Entus, so what makes you think these teams won't start having Starcraft 2 players in addition to their Starcraft 1 players? |

I hope this means they'll do similar deals outside of Korea. It would be great if Blizzard had an internet stream broadcasting tournaments with English commentary. |

What's the latest news on Starcraft II's rating in Korea? Personally I love Blizzard teaming up with GOM because of my distaste for Kespa, but if SC2 still gets an adult-only rating, doesn't that mean it can't be televised?
Correct me if I'm wrong please :D |

That's the point.
This relationship is completely worthless if rest of the KeSPA corps don't join in on it. Why would they sponsor a SC2 team?

AFAIK they settled it by omitting several things like cutscenes, gore, etc. in the KR version. |

I would be very surprised if blizzard doesn't do something to get the rating lowered. |

I heard they already managed to get it to Age 12 or 13 or whatever it is they were aiming for. They had to change the color of blood and remove all profanities.Last edit: 2010-05-27 10:41:08 |

im betting they would drop out and KeSPA would cease to exist once again depending on the meaning of the term "exclusive" |

I think it's great that they make such partnerships. I always really enjoyed gom-tv since their first invitational. The "exclusive" Part is what worries me.. but we'll have to see how it works out.
Kespa should have cooperated more with Blizzard i think... now Blizz just showed'em who's boss. |

| Looks like StarCraft pros will NOT be transitioning to SC2 and this could potentially be a huge divider in eSports/Korea/etc. Bad move IMO. |

This sounds like a disaster. The content I've seen from GOM has been nowhere near OGN when it comes to quality
And I HATE HATE HATE the fact that Blizzard is taking control of leagues and broadcasting rights. Sure, it's their legal right but it's awful for the community and esports.
Fuck it, why are there so few good RTS-games out there? I hate supporting Blizzard but we really have no alternatives.Last edit: 2010-05-27 10:44:52 |

"We, the Blizzard Entertainment, are happy to work with people who share the same passion with us, as well as understanding our visions in Korean and international level. Since Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is due soon, we are expecting to broadcast fast and exciting games to the Korean e-Sports fans through Gom-TV"
De-bullshitted version: "We at Blizzard Entertainment have found a way to avoid dealing with a professional community represented by an organisation like KeSPA. This is our attempt at hi-jacking the professional gaming scene, with each and every tournament, and we will guard our position with an iron fist. Oh, and GOM-TV is our korean bitch."
Blizzard would had signed with KeSPA, they gave them the offer, KeSPA decided to overplay their importance and the obvious happened. If you don't take an offer from blizzard on something like this they are not going to cradle you and give in to your demands, they are just going to find someone else that is not as full of themselves. |

its a possibility, but nothing is set in stone yet i believe, find other stuff to freak out on, like whats gonna happen to the starleagues and pro-leagues.. |

Since KeSPA doesn't own the companies and it's merely a little group they formed, it can easily be disbanded. The companies sponsor for advertisement, not for Korean pride in their favorite pro-gamers. If there's money to be made and people to inform, they'll quickly sponsor teams to get their names out. I don't understand why you think otherwise. |

| I thought there was no way Blizzard could get ongame and MBC to pay up even if they broke laws because the Korean government refused to enforce any judgments and told Blizzard to deal with KeSPA. So what is going to stop ongame and MBC from broadcasting SC2? Please educate me. |
