I saw that one in the movie theatre and I was blown away...
Really? Wow.
That looks like the most awful movie ever made.
The original version is obviously better, or at least the acting is. It's not a thriller or horror in a classic sense, it's a movie that laughs cynically at your attempt of getting your dose of suspense.
I'm taking whatever coverage I can get, because frankly, I'm busy working on this million dollar deal at my job. Early retirement is a good thing brotha man. - MessengerASL
Oh also something that really surprised me was State Of Play Just because I usually dont like these kinds of political thrillers, but I thoroughly enjoyed that one.

And my hatred towards shutter island can't be summed up in words. Go read the book, the movie was "meh" at best - imho.
the books are in 90% better than the movie, but i didnt read it so i was a good movie =) usually i wouldnt watch movies of books that i have read, cause you will be disappointed always.
i strongly recommend to watch Pandorum as advocated some posts above. its like alien merged with event horizon -> yeah ^^
furthermore: Dark City (have u ever asked urself where the matrix setup was taken from?) Primal Fear (insane play by edward norton) Pi (for the paranoid math guys around) The Boondok Saints 1 and 2 (just badass movies - incredible fun to watch) Gattaca (setup in the near future where naturaly born ppl compete with genetic engeneered ones)
I thought this movie would be tacky and childish, but it is VERY funny (especially with all the nerd humor sprinkled in). Definitely worth a watch or two.

I also agree that there are simply too many blockbuster movies or even critically acclaimed movies being suggested ... assuming OP is really looking for "hidden gems".
It's no all-time classic but Felon caught me off guard as it was way better than the generic sort of action movie I was expecting prior to watching it.
