8 years of holding it means you must have known diablo 3 was on the way at the end of that lengthy term. I'd think you would of kept it as an investment at least. Did blizz pay you out for mirrions??
It was blizzard Trademark so we really didn't have a chance to put up a fight if they wanted to take it They asked nicely for the domain and we said no problem.
They gave us plenty of time to switch to a new domain and the fact they wanted to take the Diablo3.com domain over was basically the first real Diablo 3 news to ever come out. We ended up doubling the traffic to our site by giving away the domain because our pagerank in google jumped with all the sites linking to the news post re: blizzard taking the domain.
We also had a link on the official Diablo3.com page when blizzard took over to our new domain for several months as well.
Diablo Diablo We've invited press to Blizzard HQ to help us make some important announcements on August 1st. What features do you hope/think we'll reveal? 24 minutes ago
We're on the home stretch, victory is near!

Force here, I do lots of SC2 commentary and Strategy focused videos, but am also heavily involved in the Diablo 3 community.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be headed to Blizzard HQ to get a world first look at the Diablo 3 Beta during the D3 Press Event. We'll be getting a few hours of D3 Beta playtime, as well as having some Production presentations and interviews.
If any of you have questions that you would like the D3 Production team to answer, let me know! I'll be pulling the best questions to use for the interview.
Cheers, Force

I am a subscriber of Force. I must say I can attest to the quality of his channel, commentaries, and strategy videos for Starcraft 2. His weekly Diablo news videos, entitled "Purgatory," are extremely informative and interesting and worth at the very least paying attention to.
Looking forward to the info you find out, Force! Your channel is awesome!

Awesome, I look forward to the update! idk where you're taking questions from, but if you check here, I'd like to know what efforts are being made to make leveling with friends more accessible/fun.

Well from whats known so far I can tell you...
1. Friends will be able to join your game seamlessly. You can be in the middle of a dungeon for example, and when a friend joins your game they will appear at or near your current position.
2. The player cap has been moved to 4 per co-op game. This is clearly a downgrade from the 8 in Diablo 2 but Blizzards explanation is that this makes it a more immersive experience (too many players means the individual becomes less important, sort of deal).
3. CO-OP play is a major focus in D3. A driving factor behind the follower system in D3, is to get people to want to play with real friends. The followers are said to be almost useless past Normal difficulty, and if an individual became use to having someone else around (the follower) then once in Nightmare and Hell they will seek out other people to play with since the follower will no longer be around, for any lengthy amount of time. This should help some of those recluse people reach out and be more social gamers =)
Was there anything else in particular you where wondering or looking for?

They are forcing you to have to play with other people? This is really disappointing news for me. Diablo is the kind of game I love playing by myself.

You misunderstood. You can definitely still play the game alone, and it won't be impossible with "almost useless" followers since by nightmare you should be decently skilled and spec'd and since difficulty scales with the amount of players. I really don't think Blizz wants to take the "alone in a creepy dungeon" feel away from the game.

ah, well that's some info I didn't know. thanks . I wonder if there will be a system for joining random games with people in your level range or something, or if it will be a long list of created games like in D2. I'm mostly interested in all the UI stuff they plan to do since that's the thing they've least talked about.

*cough* battle.net 2.0 *cough*
Seriously though I'd be shocked if Blizzard didn't implement some kind of matchmaking system similar to SC2 for D3 as well. (I say without knowing)

-_- thats stupid. the downgrade and the explanation. Having lots of friends who played D2, playing with 7 other friends was a fuckin BLAST.
appear near or at ur position? I really hope not.. Would be a bit risky in hardcore as you could get your buddies killed rather easily.
They have recently stated that scrolls of teleportation are back in the game I think i actually heard that on your site Force. Your D3 videos are really good btw!, I am a bit worried about not being able to use a "tp" to escape a deadly pack of monsters because you are in combat.. which I think was one of their ideas of stopping abusive things people did in D2.. ie. tppking and or boosting ppl thru the game in a matter of minutes. My brother lost a lvl 98 Barb in cows way back in the day to a tppk guided zon... dunno how as he was a shield barb and had top end gear with max block etc! Though thus far the only pvp is instanced arena type pvp in D3 which does sadden me.. no game has ever made my adrenalin pump as much as in d2 when some punk hostiles you and you are at risk of losing your entire character... though you could enable other players in game to loot your worn gear apart from charms but I usually played games with 7 strangers so didn't help much!
What I would like to know is what have they decided on in terms of stopping abuse with portals.. i mean some sort of rushing should still exist in the game for remaking new characters.. Especially if u play hardcore and want to focus on pvp... in which case they have said you WILL die in arena in hardcore... remaking many characters after dieing in pvp skirmishes may get tiring if you are unable to kinda boost through the early parts of the game.
I myself want to play hardcore but also wanting to pvp. I think if the pvp arena in hardcore didn't cause you to die but during PVM you would die would be a good mode of play... As it seems its only team PVP and i don't want my characters sole life to also depend on my buddy or 2 especially if someone lags/dc's.. not only that but is there something stopping people from alt f4ing or exiting the game during the arena to not die in a HC pvp match? Like does the losing team have all of its players die even if they leave the game or something?
Maybe it would be wise to start in softcore until classes are balanced in pvp and skill effects in pvp are more well known.. but nothing beat the HC ladder resets with everyone trying to get high lvl asap and into baal hell runs etc in D2! was so fun.
so more clearly put the questions I would have are:
1. What is in place to stop "TP" abuse aka rushing lvl 1's to end game or continueing to restock or heal in town during hard packs and or bosses? or tppk if they decide to add world hostile back into the game?
2. Is there buffs like Battle Orders / Enchant / Oak Sage / Paladin Auras ?
3. Will pvp in hardcore be truely hardcore and = death forever if you die? What is in place to stop game leavers mid fight and is there 1v1 or only team fights ( classes balanced as a team like in wow or balanced for 1 on 1)
holy crap I just saw the Demon Hunter and it looks bad.
Why why WHY does it have to be crossbows -____- if it were just guns I wouldn't have a single problem with it (civilization eventually discovers guns anyways), and it'd be actually kinda cool.. but CROSSBOWS?!?? especially being dual-weilded, soooo cheesy and bad

I don't personally agree with this change, but the reasons provided are perfectly valid. A full D2 game usually just busts through everything in beautiful chaos, but you can't really see who does what, unless every player has different builds that is.
