Game is pretty epic so far and Penumbra were great. I was too tired to play so I only played for an hour or so maybe. I'm at the first water part if you know what I mean. Normally I dislike single player games as most are generic chores with bland stories but its nice to see some games still have awesome immersion and story with a focus on gameplay and not gfx/gimmicks.
Its not a horror game. It's a horror experience. Grab your headphones or surround sound, turn off the lights, and be immersed in the world.
If you like this game try
Penumbra collection Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth (its buggy but good) STALKER (3 games, also look for STALKER complete mod on google) Deadspace (if you can deal with the controls and generic story) Theif 3 (Shalebridge cradle has quite some scary moments) Metro 2033 (Awesome story and gameplay but a slightly weak ending)
I'm trying to find a way to get ahold of silent hill games and system shock 2 (aka the game bio shock ripped off, and bio shock sucked after the first 30min).
I haven't gotten very far into this game yet, but so far it's been scared the living crap out of me. For a second I was certain that it was made by the combined effort of John Carpenter and Ridley Scott; It's genius to say the least.

You should check out the F.E.A.R series. More action-oriented but it got some great scares.

Oh my god this game is going to reduce me to a blubbering wreck. Definitely worth every penny if you can stomach it, but holy shit I don't know if I can summon the courage to open the game again.
Also, if you usually pirate games, please please don't do it to this one. It was made by five (5!) Swedes from the ground up, engine and all. For $20 it's probably one of the best-valued games I've ever seen. Though it's only ~10 hrs long, I've already experienced things that will haunt my nightmare for yeeeears. This game deserves to be played, and it would be quite a shame if the developers didn't receive the funding to continue brilliance like this.

I finished the demo (rather quick, seemingly quicker than the penumbra demo), but I think it was a good duration for a demo I guess.
Pretty fun. I bugged the water thing on my second play-through where it all of a sudden wouldn't do anything. Don't know what I did to trigger it really.
Also, in case anyone was wondering, in the entire water area you don't need your lantern on. I think it's good like this cause on my first playthrough I pretty much wasted all my lantern fuel figuring out what to do.

Depends, what are you expecting? It's an adventure-esque survival horror.

I hate the post below mine because it feels War3-ish.

Check out the "Condemned - Criminal Origins" games - you'll love them. They are a lot like Penumbra, each with a mindfucking ending.
I'd also really appreciate it if someone streamed Amnesia, game seems really good.

Meaning, I have seen someone open a door and that was the most action I have seen from the game. One scene you moved a chair, book and bottle of been near each other. Do you, ya know, "do stuff" in it?

Gameplay is a mix of FPS and Point and Click adventure games, with some puzzling (i haven't found one)
Im going to play more because i feel it's a great gaming experience, similar to Resident Evil series, and Dead Space, minus the action aspect.
I actually misquoted you here, I was going to quote the guy who said the graphics weren't all that good.
I'm too much of a puss to get too far into the game, but I was under the impression that you "unlock" or regain your memory while you play the game...Kind of like real amnesia, it comes back to you in bits. So (I hope) you will end up finding out why you're in some crazy fleshy castle thingy, what the fuck those dudes are, what happened to your memory, who you are, and so on.
I also want to know why Daniel erased his memory, intriguing.
Keep in mind that this game was written primarily with sound queues in mind. It's an aural game. The music/footsteps/sounds are what makes the ambiance of the place freaky. On top of that, this game was written from scratch by five guys in very little time...they created an engine (on their own) that works very similar, if not better in some ways, than the source engine.
I love the way you control objects. You can drag them slow and quiet or loud and quick!

It's a survival horror game. You have NO weapons or defenses...other than hiding from the mutants. Sounds like you want something more like FEAR or Metro 2033, imo.
The game is more...You have to survive this place with nothing but your brains and your survival instincts. So it's (barely) a puzzle horror game.

That was a spoof and more some kind of joke trailer by the producers if you read the text in the video.
Unlike most other Horror/Survival games you don't really have weapons at your disposal but heavily rely on stealth (e.g. finding hiding places) or try to solve puzzles to escape from certain situations (for example blocking a door with furniture).

You have to PLAY it to understand. Its not a game its a horror experience. Its like a scary movie with puzzles and a great story. Put on some good headphones, crank up the sound, turn off the lights, be alone, and play it. The game requires immersion to work. I got the game but since its bright out I won't bother playing it till the sun goes down and no one else is bothering me to distract from the immersion.
Also streaming this won't work for this game. The suspense and tension is all in the eerie loneliness and paranoia that develops. If you just watch it its not YOU going through the corridors alone.
Oh man I can't wait to play this tonight... I can't even explain how immersing this game is. Its like when you read a good book and you are in the book, the game is like that. You really need to make sure you have
A) No distractions (people, pets, phone, IM) B) Darkness and right computer gamma C) Alone D) The right mindset, let it take you in E) Sound ( I have Sennheiser Audiophile headphones)
TL:DR
This isn't a GAME its living through a horror movie with gameplay as a way to interact. This is a game that is art, just like SC is art, except this focuses on the experience rather than on skill or strategy.

Aliens vs Predator, playing as a Marine on Director's Cut difficulty. (the first AvP, oldie but goodie)
I have it but my computer couldn't run it when I got it and now my comp is too good so it isn't compatible, but yeh that game is pretty good from the few levels I played.
