2009-2010 Shinhan Bank Proleague, Round 5 Week 6 (OGN):
Air Force ACE vs STX SouL
Sunday, July 4 2010: 13:00 KST / 06:00 CEST / 00:00 EDT
Set 1: Judgment Day
Set 2: Fortress
Set 3: Polaris Rhapsody
Set 4: Grand Line SE
Ace: Fighting Spirit
Air Force ACE. Everyman's team. ACE is a team that is beloved to all, not because they are the best, but because of what the team stands for. Created back in 2007 by the Emperor himself, ACE has stood for the last three years as a shining beacon a hope, a second chance for progamers to continue playing even after their conscription. In the ranks of ACE live the former elite, players like YellOw and XellOs who once dominated the scene, fan favourites like Much and Reach, players that loved the game so much that they would not give it up, even long after their primes had come and gone. Due to that, and the fact that the members of ACE have much less time to practice than their fellow progamers on other teams, ACE is hard-pressed to win matches. Since its inception, the team has struggled with mediocrity in its games. With shortened practice time, ACE's mechanics suffer. But ACE does not give up. ACE knows that there is more to the game of Starcraft than just winning.

So ACE fights on, through the losses. The occasional wins. The despair that follows each game lost, the joy that accompanies the wins. For the past three years, ACE has been the little team that couldn't.
But what about now?
The 2009-2010 Shinhan Bank Proleague season is almost over, but ACE is far from being done. Going on an unprecedented 3-game winstreak, ACE is working wonders this round, with a break-even record of 4-4 so far. With wins against KT Rolster, Hite SPARKYZ, MBCGame HERO, and Hwaseung OZ under their belts, the boys in blue are ramping up to try to finish this season with a bang. We cheer for ACE, because ACE inspires us.
From ACE's latest winners' interview from their match against Hwaseung OZ:
Your resolves for the remaining games?
▲ Anytime: For Casy, Reach, and myself, this could be the last proleague games on Airforce Ace so I want to leave a good lasting impression. I really want to see Casy win a game in these last few games. And more than anything else, I want to reach 10 wins for Airforce Ace.

You reached 99 wins.
▲ Anytime: I got worried about leaving Ace before reaching 100 wins after my 6-loss streak. It's a lot later than what I had initially hoped, but I want to reach 100 wins in the 3 games i have left.

Your next match is STX.
▲ YellOw: We are expecting a tough battle because they are a strong team. But since we beat KT, we are also thinking we have to beat STX, and if I'm given the opportunity I want to continue setting my goals and meeting them.

After a dismal first four rounds, even by their own standards, ACE is renewed with a final wind. Their goal of 10 match wins is so close--will tonight be the night? One can only hope so. Tonight marks another potentially epic night as well, a night where Anytime reaches his 100th Proleague win, hot on the heels of NaDa, who just got his hundredth himself after taking out Flying. This match marks the beginning of the penultimate week for Casy, Anytime, and Reach, who leave at the end of the season. Reach is going back to KT, that's for sure. What about Casy? Does he return to a weakened hite? Will Anytime go back to OZ? I'm not sure, really.
Tonight marks a special night, and the stars are all aligned. ACE is on fire, and STX has been faring poorly this time around. Despite having an excellent round 4 with the chance to overtake KT, STX has remained in second. Even with Flash failing all his Ace matches, STX has failed to overtake them, going 2-6 this round around. Besides eSTRO, STX SouL has the worst record and the worst point differential. Kal and Calm, the Ace match-winning pair of Round 4, is now but a distant memory. Shuttle, as well, has been relegated to mediocrity this round. I think STX's plight can be summed up as this: you know it's bad when FrOzean (cough cough CuteAngel) has the most points in Fantasy Proleague.
[22:01] <@flamewheel> CSheep what if YellOw beats Calm.
[22:01] <@CSheep> flamewheel
[22:01] <@CSheep> i unconditionally cheer for yellow
[22:01] <@flamewheel> Good.

Tonight, we all watch with baited breath. History has already been made with ACE's three-game winstreak, but tonight there is a chance for that to become much more. Will we see four consecutive wins for Air Force ACE? Will Anytime attain his 1000th win?
And most importantly: will we be seeing a Reach vs ToSsGirL (who got moved to A-team in the most recent roster change) grudge match?
Air Force ACE fighting!
BoxeR would be proud.
