"My resolve became stronger as soon as I saw the entry"
You beat JAEDONG
I was so glad to play a strong opponent. My will became stronger as soon as I saw the entry and I wanted to win even more. I wanted to show exciting games and practiced hard, so I had high hopes for the match. I wasn't satisfied with my performance with the game, but still, I'm glad I won.
You started off at a disadvantage
It became Jaedong's pace as soon as his lings came in. Because you need to have probes stick to the lings, its a disadvantage just having lings in your base. When I lost my Nexus to a hydra drop later, I thought I would lose to while being dragged around by Jaedong. After that I just left it to instinct. Playing instinctively worked well (laughs).
Though SKT's qualified for the PO, it doesn't seem like you're very satisfied.
We were doing well during the first two rounds and then crumbled in the third. When I think about it I get a bit depressed. I thought I could get 50 wins like last season (laughs). Thinking about it now, it's actually a really hard goal. Right now, I try to play with no regrets. Since we're in the PO, I'll just have to worry about that.
Jaedong's resistance was strong.
When I got Jaedong's main, he played as I predicted he would. He knows how to win from that situation. I didn't think that I had won even after destroying his main. I calmed myself to not panic or make mistakes in that situation. Despite that I kept falling for his tricky play. He set up a defensive line at 7 so I focused on breaking that defense. I timed it well with my observer.
Isn't beating Jaedong a big deal?
Not really. I was confident enough that I could beat him. (laughs) Even though my results haven't shown them.. (laughs)
Have you thought about the PO?
Haven't yet. I'll follow the coach's lead. I'm thinking that I have to win at least one game. It'd be great if I won two but my share of duty is at least one victory. I'll work my best for that share.
You have a match with STX now.
I want to play in that match. Of course, it's good if we win, though some other player might come out instead. Since STX wants their second place, I think they'll send their ace lineup in the match.
Any last words?
It's a new start now. I think the real battle is the PO. I'll work my hardest for the Gwangahnri finals.
Fantasy
We'll play even better in the PO.
We'll play even better in the PO.
You reached 40 wins.
There were several good things for the team. The team secured their place in the PO and I achieved my goal of 40 wins. It's a good day for the team.
40 wins was the original goal from the start, IIRC.
I wrote "40 wins" on the side of my computer when the season started. Now that I've reached it, I have a sense of accomplishment in me.
How did you prepare for today's games?
I prepared a very aggressive strategy. It's a two player map that's easy to defend, so one mistake can result in a hour long game. As a result, I chose a strategy that can end the game early. I've played several drawn out games and I don't think I'm very good at them, though I think my endurance has improved since my debut.
Weren't you affected by Lomo's vultures?
I already thought of all that. They were vultures already damaged from my tanks so I thought I could kill them. I was keeping a watch on when he would come out and he acted on it well. Games these days go pretty similar to how I predict them.
Last season was a straight entry to finals - this year you have to play in the Ro6.
It's a bit sad that we didn't make second place. Still, I think it's more chance to show the fans your game. Besides being pressed because of both individual leagues, I think it's good, like getting used to the pressure when on TV.
You have the most wins in your team, which must be more burdensome than last season.
Last season it was Bisu, so it was less burdensome last season. But this season, I think I should lessen the stress on my teammates by consistently providing wins.
The team's play has improved since the fifth round.
The Zergs and Bisu have been playing well so I think we'll have no problem in a Bo7. Even I think our team is strong sometimes. I believe that our team will do better in the Bo7 format.
Which team do you think is the hardest to face in the PO?
There's a high chance we'll play CJ or Fox first, and I think there is no strictly hard opponent. There was a particular race lineup of a certain team that I was worried about, but they dropped out. I think I'll be able to play with no worries.
SK's known to be strong in the PO.
There are a lot of players and people in the coaching staff who have the experience. Our team tends to get stronger near the end. Our fans can expect good results from us.
It must be depressing not to go up as second place.
It would have freed time to practice for the individual leagues but we can't do anything about it now. (laughs)
Any last words?
The three players who won today are roommates. I told s2 that if he won, the three roommates will have won together, and I'm glad that it worked. I wanted to play Jaedong but couldn't. Ssak has a game with Jaedong tomorrow, so I'll try to help him a lot.
s2
I feel so good that I won my first ace match.
How do you feel, beating JD?
It was my first Ace match win. I was extremely nervous because the team's win depended on it. I'm very happy that I won.
How did you feel when you were picked to be the Ace match player?
I was already warned about this and practiced heavily for it. I felt that they were trusting me more and I wanted to repay that with my win.
What was the reason that you won?
Part of it was because of diagonal spawns but I tried to play as greedily because Jaedong is a very aggressive player. I worked to win with defensive play.
Your scourge use was very good.
They worked well before so I used them but they weren't as effective today. I'm not really sure right now, I'll have to check with the VOD. Because I won that mutalisk fight heavily, maybe they were good.
You were attacked when your armor wasn't yet upgraded.
I didn't see that JD had armor+1. However, I had more mutas and my +1 was about to finish so I was confident. The upgrade finished in the middle of the fight.
You must have predicted Jaedong to be your opponent.
I had Jaedong in mind. But since Jaedong has the OSL tomorrow, I thought about Hiya too. I practiced mainly vT and vZ.
Are you setting your eyes on double digit wins? You have nine wins right now.
Single digit and double digit wins sound different. Truthfully, I'm looking forward to it. I hope to play vs STX and win there.
What is your resolve like going into the PO?
I haven't set a specific goal yet. I'll try to think about it after the STX match. Right off the bat, it's to win at least once.
Don't you want to go to Gwang Ahn Ri?
TheZerg got to play last season and honestly I was really jealous. I just watched the game from the bench. I really wanted to play on that stage. Now that the finals are nearing, I'm getting greedy about it again. I'll do everything to reach the finals and play.
Any last words?
There is now only one game left and then it's the PO. I'll show my winning self now and make sure we go to Gwang Ahn Ri.
