| It really doesn't do anything for the HDD that would show up in normal use. |

| Hehe, salvaged a 3ft SATA cable by removing the CM 690ii's own eSATA capabilities. I was tinkering around with the case and realized it was a SATA-SATA cable connected to an eSATA adapter at the front of the case next to the USB/Audio/Power. I figured my mobo already has an eSATA port in the back, so why not? Though, I had to take the glue off that was reinforced to keep the SATA cable connected to the eSATA adapter. |

Got a few questions,
On a case, CM 690 ii or Haf 922. leaning to the 922 though....
and is there a difference between the cm 690 ii advanced and plus versions?
and need some suggestions for a monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution for about 200 USD. |

The plus version is just an asian version of the advanced. There's no difference between the two I believe.
Every monitor sub $300 now are 1920 x 1080 unfortunately )= |

The differences I know of between CM 690ii basic and advanced:
-Advanced has an SSD adapter to hold it securely. -It has a retention holder to support the weight of video cards, up to three.
The Advanced model comes with a hard disk drive bay on the top panel, feature not present on the regular model. This bay allows you to install a 2 ½” or 3 ½” storage device externally. The sticker that comes attached to this bay is misleading since it says this bay does not support hot-swap, which is not entirely true. If you configure the SATA port where this bay will be connected to under AHCI mode and correctly configure the operating system, this bay can be used as a hot-swap device.

I believe those are the only differences.Last edit: 2010-07-26 02:52:43 |

| Depends on what you plan on putting into the case. Get the HAF 922 if you want to crossfire or SLI two powerful video cards. Get the 690 Plus if you don't. |

Planning on getting the GTX 460. read that it is only about 8 inches, so not too long right?
690 Plus should suffice?
Also, for a Core i5 system with the GTX 460,
would the Corsair 650 TX be sufficient? or should I move up to the 750 TX? |

johanngrunt: i5 750 + GTX 460 (if you don't plan on adding a second GTX 460) requires like a 500W PSU.
690 Plus should suffice.
DoubleZee: You could save around $70 if you switch to an AMD setup. (Phenom II X4 955 and a 870 Chipset mobo.

Which combo is better bang for my buck? I'm willing to spend the extra $100 on the intel setup if it's worth it. Can you also suggest me a 500GB HDD? 1TB is overkill considering I have an external HD with all my music/movies/etc on it.Last edit: 2010-07-26 11:13:53 |

A good 500GB HDD is the Samsung Spinpoint F3
I don't think it would be worth it. You should get just about the same performance with the AMD setup. :>Last edit: 2010-07-26 11:15:06 |

CPU + mobo = good.
HDD -> try to get a WD Black (not blue) or Samsung Spinpoint F3. |

| WD Blue is totally fine imo. I don't think NCIX stocks the 500GB F3 (after looking for it for a while). |
