Overclocked 955 black edition

intel ssd with a seagate hybrid data drive
radeon 5570
600w ocz psu
thermaltake armor a60 case
Posted this setup that my friend is selling a while ago when he was asking 450. Someone said that the most appealing part is the SSD and that if the 5570 would be replaced soon that it isn't really worth it. He's since dropped the price down to 300-350. Should I jump on that? Will it be able to stream SC2? |

A 40gb SSD does not cost the same as a 80gb or 120gb...
A 5400 RPM Seagate Momentus does not cost the same as a 7200 RPM Momentus. 250GB does not cost the same as 500GB.
Not to mention there's multiple 600w OCZ power supplies, 8gb could be 2x4gb or 4x2gb, and an overclocked 955 without an aftermarket heatsink??? |

Hey, nothing wrong with using a caviar black as a storage drive IF you play a lot of games off it and/or screen cap HD to it. Not like 128GB SSD will hold anywhere near all of most gamer's games. And I mean, he's building a reasonably powerful system, won't hurt to spend a few extra bucks on the minutely better HDD.
If he was hitting the sub-$1000 range, caviar black would be silly. A decent build in the $1500+ range, no reason not to, unless you only need it for multimedia/photos.Last edit: 2012-03-29 03:00:25 |

My budget is $1000, and all I need is the case and everything in it (with the exception of main storage HDD). Here's what I (basically) want:

A 64 GB SSD

MoBo
And I want to optimize for playing and streaming SC2.

hi there, i'm looking to purchase a new gaming dekstop seeing as my old one broke a few months ago and playing games on a macbook pro is not enjoyable at all 
i've been out of the loop in terms of what the good gear on the market is these days and i was hoping someone could share some advice or expertise on the computer i'm planning to buy.
i'm buying from sgxtech.com (my friend bought his computer from there and he's had it for a few months with no issues after purchase). they offer a wide range of computers which can be viewed by downloading a pdf file with the gaming computers available. the site is only in french so sorry if you're trying to navigate around and don't understand much.
these are the 2 computers i'm debating on at the moment...

Both are overpriced / terrible.
There is a negligible difference between an i5 and i7 for gaming as most games barely use four cores.
Buy your own components and assemble it yourself or pay NCIX $50 to assemble it for you (or another retailer). |

thanks for the heads up. like i said, i haven't bought a desktop computer in over 6-7 years. i wouldn't have any problems building a computer from scratch but could i maybe trouble you to recommend me what to buy if my budget is around 800$ (processor, video card, etc.)? thanks again |

if you can get a bit more specific, such as mobo, and how far did he take his 955 on that overclock.
You should be able to barely make 720p (i did on my 955) but it be better if we knew a lil more |
