I suppose the most common choices are Antec BasiQ VP450 CX430 V2
None of them are very good though. |

They are stable units, but you asked for good. In terms of ripple, volt regulation efficiency, noise and so on they are at best mediocre. |

| If you really want to play skyrim and crysis 2 on max at good fps, yes the 7950 is a good choice, the 7850/7870 would be enough for most games though (incluing skyrim, crysis 2 being more demanding) |

Is what you're saying that it's a powerful, relatively future-proof GPU, with some nice breathing room for some over-clocking?
Any thoughts on my current CPU?
I'd like to be able to play Rome Total War 2 at max/near max when it comes out next year.
Thanks!
Edit: I'm aware that there are different "versions" of this card. Is the one I chose (XFX) a good choice? I am lead to believe that it is factory over-clocked and that it has some kind of fan that facilitates further over-clocking.
Thanks so much!Last edit: 2012-08-13 20:18:18 |

The cheapest, sapphire is usually a good choice with the dual-x solution, as it comes pretty cheap with decent cooling
and i'm just saying, specificaly for crysis 2, the 7950 is better then the 7870/7850 as these will not play it on max settings at good fps (well, the 7870 will normally, especially if OC'd, but the 7950 will for sure)
as for your cpu, for the games you want to play, it is decent enough still |

Thank you. I intend to OC it though, seeing as I have (I think) a good cooler for it.
So you're saying the sapphire 7950 is bette than the XFX one? I thought the XFX had the "double-dissipation" cooling? |

| No, i'm saying the cheapest is theb est usually, but sapphire usually is among the cheapest, and has dual cooler solution, which normally will place it amongst the best brand |

Why is it the best? Because simply it's as good as the ones that cost more
only the cooling differs, which is why sapphire, with low prices and dual-x cooling, is usually one of the best |

Thanks. But like I said, I thought it was the XFX with the dual cooling? |

| I think what Rachnar is trying to say is that you should get the cheapest version with dual cooling. Multiple brands offer this, not just XFX, and most of the times, Sapphire is the cheapest dual cooling solution. |

Thank you. This is a bit clearer
I'm still open to some comments about OCing my CPU. Things regarding my one specifically, how far I should go etc Thanks very much, ye are all so helpful. |

ASUS P8Z77-V LK is overpriced.
Why a GTX 560 Ti? 7850 is all around better.
Corsair Vengeance often overpriced as well.
Why Diablotek? They don't make good anything.
After reading more reviews about cases. I think I've decided to get the Cooler Master Storm Scout, seems like it has a lot more room and better ventilation as well as an awesome look. Though it is $71 compared to the Diablotek $33.
I didn't think the Corsair was that much more expensive than the other SSDs... I know there faster ones for a little bit cheaper but they seemed to have reliability issues, so that's why I picked the Corsair.
I forgot about the heatsink, thanks. Don't want to spend a huge amount on a heatsink, so I'm going with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ($30)
The 7850 does indeed seem all around better for the same price. Thank you for this, totally missed that. |

Yes, a Hyper 212 EVO is good enough for a moderate overclock.
A bigger case does not equate to better cooling. |
