So I'm building a new PC that I bought off of tigerdirect.com.

I've come across this problem:

The graphics card slot on the motherboard doesn't seem to line up with the slot on the case. The motherboard takes up all the space it possibly can inside the case and there is no room to move it.
Any suggestions on what to do? =/

| Have you removed the bracket and actually tried installing the graphics card to see if it is lined up? |

Not yet as the graphics card I am using is currently in the computer I'm using now. I'm waiting for the final piece to arrive in the mail before going for the full finished attempt...but I can clearly see by just standing over it that there's no way it could possibly fit. |

If you have I/O plate installed and the motherboard aligns correctly with the I/O plate than the expansion slots should be correctly aligned with the brackets.
btw, you're suppose to be using the first PCI-E x16 slot for your graphics card. |

Ah, So i went to Fry's they check the power supply- they tested it and said everything was working fine. I got a new motherboard, the same type, a new video card, and new memory. Just turned on my computer and about 5 mins it was on it decided to reset...
The only things I didnt have checked or returned were the HD, the DVD drive and CPU I5 processor...
If my computer is overheating how do I fix that ?

If your processor is overheating than you incorrectly mounted the heatsink and all you would have to do is remount it. If the graphics card is overheating than the heatsink became loose somehow and you'll have to remount it or just return it for another one.

That one is aligned exactly the same as this one, so I just took a pic of that one so it's easier to see. |

It might be a short? Try unplugging all the front panel headers (except for the on/off button of course). You should probably unplug the DVD Drive as well for troubleshooting purposes.

He went into the back and said everything was working fine.
Well as of right now, since I just reinstalled windows it is all working fine. I will try that if it resets/shuts down again. |

it'll line up. the bracket is offset from the circuit board, not in the middle of it. |

i'm planning on building a computer some time next week, looking to spend around $700, including the cost of the monitor. i'll mainly be using this computer for playing sc2 (low graphics), reading math papers, watching tv shows/movies, and not much else, so hopefully this budget is ok.
i'd like to use this monitor, a 23" 1900 x 1080 for $150, a 32 GB (is this too small?) SSD drive for OS (dualbooting windows 7 and gentoo linux), and a regular HDD for storage, but i have no clue about the rest of the computer. can anyone suggest a build? thanks.

Somebody reading math papers probably can get cheaper Windows than that.
How are Linux drivers for the Radeon cards these days? In the past, ATI didn't supply them and Nvidia's support was much better, but they do now I think. Both companies are bad about drivers for new series as far as I know, but I'm not up to date. If you want to be safe, I think an older GeForce GT 240 ($60) would be a decent alternative. They're not much worse than the HD 5670 and both can handle medium settings on SC2 handily.

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a new computer that's able to run sc2 smoothly on at least medium settings. I'm willing to spend up to $800, but the lower the better. I'm pretty bad with computer parts and such, but I'm willing to build one if it's significantly cheaper. I need pretty much everything; case, keyboard, monitor, w7 and all the parts inside. Basically all I have is a mouse. Don't care for speakers though.
Right now I'm using a 15.4" laptop, with 1280x800 resolution, so anything around that is fine with me. I'm going to be using the computer mainly for sc2, movies, music, skype/msn, dreamweaver, and minimal photoshop. I'd like the computer to last at least 2 years. Planning to build or buy it within a week. Don't really care for overclocking, I've had it explained to me and vaguely understand it, but I don't think it would really be necessary for me.
I live in Canada so I guess I'd buy from newegg? I had never heard of it before going through this thread to be honest.
