I was modifying Tal'Darim by changing some of the unit stats. When I was testing it to make sure things were working, after a few tests suddenly all the defaults were reset (only in the test run, all the modifications were still there in the editor).
Has anyone else had this happen? I'm not really sure what specifically I did in between tests to set this off. Also I'm somewhat new to mapmaking in sc2.
So I was working on a new map and after making 1/4 of the map, I copied and rotated the terrain around and then I realized the mains were close to the borders, so I pushed the map borders out by 1 square and then started looking around the map. I started noticing some really weird zooms and strange stuff going on simply as I try to move around the map. It seems to randomly zoom in and out even if I click the mouse wheel to restore original vision. Anybody know why this happens or how to fix it?

I sometimes get that after resizing map bounds, it usually goes away after closing and reopening the editor.

It's more like it zooms and unzooms when it shouldn't Like it will zoom way way in on low ground spots sometimes to where small 4x4 sections take up the whole screen. It's just very weird. I don't want to have to remake the map but I'm afraid I'll have to. =(

It is not easy, I think (at least I haven't found a good way), but here is a little text on how I made Marshlands. It describes a bit how I work with x/y=1 symmetry.
On second thought, I think I will stick with vertical/horizontal style symmetry.

As Namrufus said, to fix this just save and close&reopen the editor.

Also, how do I rotate a building actor with in this "new" editor? I know the older one I would just go to the "UI" tab and rotate it, but what do I do now? D:
EDIT: Nevermind. ^^"

aren't warpgates and gateways seperate data objects? so you could just edit the command card of the gateway and the warp gate should be fine I would think (unless there is some weird inheritance relationship between warpgates and gateways... idk, it's been awhile since i have attempted to do anything with the editor)

I made that, but I wanted to make the buttons to appear in both forms. They would switch from enabled to disabled according to the state of the gateway. If it was a gateway, some would be enabled and others disabled... When it's a warp gate, the other way.
This way the player would see all his options, and know how to build them. Just having different command cards is confusing.

I think you should make a map thread, it's the best way to get feedback on maps imo. Mappers have posted unfinished maps before for consideration... you should be fine.

Kinda depends on how far you are. If you just have an idea or a concept, you can simply ask in here. If you already made some terrain in the editor etc. you can open a mapthread and lable it with WIP for work in progress.

Completely noobish question, and I didn't see an answer anywhere, but is it possible to get the Galaxy Map Editor as a standalone program instead of having to install SC2 as well? I wanna work on things while I'm at work, when I have time

I think that this might be possible. You could try, you can copy the StarCraft2Editor.exe out of the sc2 folder. The editor requires you to log in to bnet the first time you use it though I believe.
