I'm sorry cheering someone you admire on instead of putting him down bothers you so much, but if it's people telling us how bad he is you're looking for, we have plenty of those here and in every other thread as well. Deserves a better fanclub? I think you need to do some research on the term "fan". A fan will stay a fan even though his team/player isnt doing so well ... jumping ship to the best player at the moment is not a proper fan in my opinion.
And your list of unhealthy properties:
1 Defeatist: Wrong people here are actually quite positive despite alot of bad results from the player we like. Saying he will bounce back, or hoping he will bounce back is far from defeatist.
2 Cynical: Wrong again. Do you even know what cynical means? Being cynical often means only using cold, hard logic to reach a decision. I don't think we would see as much positivity in here if we were all that cynical.
3 Non competetive: What do you mean by this? We are fans, and I didnt know we were competing in anything? Is there some sport in being a fan? Picking the best player at the moment and gathering behind him?

Completely missing the point - I am advocating for the fan that stays and respect the capabilities of the player, rather then downplaying constantly.
With pages of over 2000 of course there are people who aren't defeatist, but a lot of people are. Everytime Idra loses you see tons of people repeating the mantra that ''Stupid imba game'' or ''Player X was Y'' - going hand in hand
I am clear as the sun talking about how people are coldly downplaying idra's level of play to a lower level by not expecting him to beat a certain set of players, or that it wasn't a big surprise.
Idra is the best player, and deserves people who respect his abilities and that he is above most and we shouldn't downplay him and give excuses.

Idra is not above anyone and the tought of it is stupid.
Idra is just another player that needs to work for his wins like everybody else, work more and complain less and he will be back to his former glory quickly.
I hope he does but it would be good for him to simple admit that right now he isn't even special, his play his lackluster!
Don't get me wrong, I follow him, always view his games etc.. but i'm sure the minute he accepts that he is just another player working for a win instead of the "i'm a macro monster, been in korea "x" time and i should dominate you because of "Y"" he will probably win more again!

no one is saying that losing to Catz was a should-have-been; demuslim is a different story. demuslim is a badass and there is no (nada you might say) reason why losing to demuslim is not ok. it seems like you are more ok with balance whine -_-
honestly there's just no reason why you come in and tell people they are shitty fans. i think idra fans have some problems, but not loving/respecting idra enough is not one of them

| I don't believe there is any wrong or right way to be a fan. Some fans like to post cheerful things and positive things no matter the situation, and sometimes it is overdone. But, some fans also like to post more analytical and critical things no matter the situation, and sometimes it is overdone. IMO, the balance of cheerfulness/analytical posts we have is pretty good right now. Perhaps it is leaning on the blissful side a little too much right now, but it isn't really a problem or significant enough to complain about anyway. It has been much more unbearable (on both sides of the spectrum) in the past. |

Agree with Whole, Idra fans' average IQ is pretty good these days. Some Swedish Naniwa fans are a bit more rabid though. Like Whole saying smt nice in his fan club and getting flamed for having a gracken-sig. Quite hilarious. |

| Seriously guys, at some point we have to stop with the excuses. The list of players Idra has "no shame" of losing to keeps getting longer and longer. Off the top of my head, according to his fans it's okay for Idra to lose to: Thorzain, Catz, Demuslim, Morrow, Dream, Select, Socke, Bigs, STX, Alicia, Hero..... I mean sure there are notable names, but if you get to the point where like 20 people, of which half are mediocre foreigners are expected to beat you then you've seriously moved down the totem pole. A year ago Idra was expected to lose to MVP, Nestea, MKP now Idra is expected to lose to Demuslim, Morrow, Thorzain. See the massive drop in expectation? |
