So, I have like no idea how to go about this mission. It seems like I have to spread my forces way too thin to defend my base from even the first attack and accomplish the objective.

Seriousface spoiler, don't say I didn't warn you:

+ Show Spoiler +

Any tips at all would be helpful, unit mixes, when to do what, etc >.>

3rd base is even harder.

I think this is poorly designed, as your only choice is to abuse the AI. You're asked to storm stationary terran defense, with terran units.

The second base is beatable by microing medics and scvs. Let the the Odin tank damage, try to snipe air units so he doesn't waste time hitting them. Block the back of your base and leave some scvs on repair.

When you assault a base, the Odin AI will prioritize hitting healers. He takes like 3 shots or so to kill medivacs. Tank splash kills any scv/marine/medics u have next to the odin. I try to dance in with diamondbacks to kill the tanks, snipe air units with wraiths, micro medics and scv's keep the odin alive.

This mission is a huge pain in the ass and I would love for anyone to tell me how to beat the third base. Does thereisnocowlevel work?

For the first base I used a mix of Marine, medic and marauder. (You also have 4 wrath) Then I switch to mass tank and hired the elite viking. I always bring A LOT of SCV to repair Odin because they often die to Splash domage and I think Brutal UI sometime focus fire them.

If you kill the second base fast enought and you siege some tank in front of odin you can kill the wave of vulture that was comming to your base. Then mix Tank, marine, medic and some wrath (4-5) + elite viking then you should be ok. After the base 4th there is another push coming to your base but I had time to go defand and come back before Odin continue. Base 5 is ez.

you dont need to help him break the first base, so don't sweat about getting units fast and focus on your economy. i did this using merc vikings + merc tanks with spare resources thrown into marauders, didnt find wraiths that helpful since they need a tech lab and are just too vunerable.
the counter attacks happen after he breaks a base so just send your units home while tycheus take rests and leave a couple of scv to repair him
make sure that you use the odin as a meatshield so you dont lose units because youre not going to have a good economy

This one depends on what you already had. For this one, I already had Vikings, Diamondbacks and Siege Tanks. For the 1st base, the Odin can solo it. To defend your base, all you need is a bunker with 4 marines and a Siege Tank, and repair the bunker if needed. The second base, I just brought 2 siege tanks, starting wraith, and a few vikings(mercenary vikings are always nice). The siege tanks help deal some damage, and the air units kill theirs. For the 3rd, I had around 6 Siege Tanks, and 4 Diamond Backs, with whatever air force I had left. Save a scan or too because you need your tanks to take out theirs on the high ground, and send in the Diamond Backs to soak up some shots. And the 4th one is fairly easy, similar to the 3rd one. I also had the 2x repair with the SCVs which made it a lot easier.

lewls Wraith aren't really that bad at all. They are definitely fragile though, so I used mass marine/medic to tank for both the wraith/thor. I sniped tanks with wraith (especially easy sometimes as there are a few tanks [2nd and 3rd base] that are sieged up without detection). And yeah, if you have decent control, it's pretty easy from there. The wraiths are also useful for taking out the Loki (extra mission/achievement). Though you need about 20 wraiths on brutal because that thing is a beast and has built in detection

I did all this on brutal so I'm sure it can be done on hard. The key is to get your expos up (primarily the first expansion) asap and planetary fortress'd so you can focus on tank/BC sniping with wraith, as well as controlling everything else properly.
Everyone needs a nemesis.

Well I just beat the mission on brutal. I didn't find the loki and I was kind of busy, guess I can always go back and beat it on casual and get it, lol. I used siege tanks, SCIENCE VESSELS, and vikings. Science vessels own! They are medivacs for mech.
Be versatile, know when to retreat, and carry a big gun.

This mission was reduclously easy on hard, I haven't tried it on brutal. I set maybe 5 scvs on odin and he killed everything. I was doing nothing the whole time. I got tired of waiting and built 5 ghosts and destroyed the last base with nukes. ( they had no detection except for the occasional raven which i focus fired. I don't know if ghosts would work in brutal (the upgrades for them are awesome). Btw how do you do the bonus objective (find and destroy the loki)?

Manage your small squad of wraiths to take out air targets and tanks, you can let Odin tank a large amount of damage until you clear out the enemy targets with aoe, then send your small squad of m/m and repairing scvs in behind the odin to mop up once the dangerous enemy units are down. You don't really need more than your starting squad of wraiths and m/m + couple merc squads to take out the first few bases with this method. Take the expo after base 2 is clear then pump mass goliath and vehicle upgrades, letting them accumulate at your main to deflect attacks while you micro your forces supporting the odin at base 3. You should have enough forces to a move your way to victory behind the odin through base 4/5 once your eco kicks in and you're pumping from 5 facts.

jeez u guys did this mission so much later. I have no science vessels/tanks/vikings. Guess this is why it's hard.

Loki is BC that's right outside on the westside of the forth base.

Uh, if you leave the Odin alone at the second base for long enough to pick off the raven, he's pretty much dead instantly. Should I be attacking the base beforehand?

Honestly, the key is Science Vessels. When I did it I had Science Vessels with an air force of Banshees/Wraiths/Vikings + Mercs. The Science Vessels just heal everything (including the Odin and SCV's) and since you are all air, your main army won't have to worry about tanks. Just send Cloaked stuff ahead to snipe off all the tanks/BC's with Banshees/Wraiths respectively.

This mission was really straightforward. Let Odin take out the first base, repair it, macro up mech with science vessels. Just remember to mosey on back to defend your main immediately after you take out one of the Dominion bases.

Btw, does anyone else think that wraiths are just inferior to vikings?

And yes, the key to this mission is science vessels.

I did it with mass air as well, ground units just get so easily torn apart and you need tons of AA and mobility to come back and defend your base. 3 ports + mercs was enough at full saturation.

I did this mission pretty early, so my tech was very low. I made it to the last base but couldn't ever get it done. I've tried going back with new units/tech but it doesn't let me. Guess I'll try later.

If you can beat this map with the units I had available on brutal, my hats off to ya.

Barracks - marine, marauder, medic, firebat
Factory - Hellion, Vulture, Diamondback
Starport - Wraith, Viking
Mercs - marine/marauder/viking

Upgrades - marine/medic upgrades, turret upgrade, auto turret bunker upgrade.

Hopefully It'll let me go back with new tech, eventually.

i f*cking made it on brutal guys
i wouldnt be so proud if i would made it withhigh tech units(bcuz i don´t have them yet)
strategy:
2 reactor racks
1 tech lab starport
and early upgrades level 2

i played with mass marines + medics and wraiths
i think the most importantpart of the game was the beginning because right when ur wraiths finished off the 2 battlecruisers i wwent up 2 the third base cloaked them and killed the 2 tanks and a battlecruiser after that i went 2 the backside of the second base destroyed the raven which flys around there and killed another tank and another bc but then i moved them back 2 my base ofc cuz they had no energy anymore^^
when u have done that its way easier 2 destroy the first 3 bases, u can use less units so u can have more lateron
when the odin is about 2 attack the fourth base u will have 2 attack from the bottom side
(u will take much dmg but in that time the odin does much dmg and more importantly he stays alive and u can snipe the bc easily without getting blocked by the small entrance on the topside where u are just food for the hungry siege tank)
well when u have killed most of the units kill the unit producing buildings there´ll be always units coming out and they do way more dmg than u would think
after that deff ur main and keep on building mass marines, medics and wraiths
then the last base should be easy
if u fail at the last base just take most of ur buildings next time and send them into the fifth base right before the odin and your units start to attack and keep on moving tem around so they stay there and rightclick units with them so they get aggro(not sure if the aggro trick works but it seems like it did)
(don´t forget that u won´t need ur scvs after the last battle anymore so use all of em in the fight)
well if u use this strategy u can beat this mission on brutal with low tech
(yes i just made my account to post in this thread because i´m so goddamn proud of it :D)
greetings from germany
-Silent
(edit: yeah there are probably many typos but its 12 o´clock on the morning here and i played the whole night )
