i did a tl search and google and found no results
i have a capped internet and would like to know how much bandwidth is used on a average game before I spend the money on it. I know it depends on how many players/maps/gametype etc but can someone give me an estimate of how much upload /download is transferd in an average hour of playing. or just an average length 1v1.
thanks for your help

I think from a previous thread that people mentioned only a few kbs are transferred per game so it's ridiculously small.
|
1 replay is generally less than 100kb, so I assume that a very small amount of data is being transferred.

How capped is your connection? I would assume SC2 uses less than (for comparison's sake) FPS games such as CS. There's a bit of downloading in terms of maps and so on on Bnet but they are negligible in size.

i get 5 gigs a month
i can play on xbox live and usually hit around 50-60 mb an hour
|
Next time I play I'll close everything bar SC2 and see how much I use between start up/closing and let you know. I'm pretty sure it's very low-bandwidth though.

Download DU meter to find out...

thx man i would really appreciate some solid data.

I played several games yesterday, mostly 1v1's and a 4v4. The bandwidth came up to 8.25mb down and 5.1MB up overall, for 2 hours worth of play. Like i said, mostly 1v1's.
Hope this helps. SC2 is very low on the bandwidth.
If you'd like to monitor your bandwidth, you can download Net limiter monitor and it will log all your data usage from applications etc, as well as sporting a bunch of other features.

This is just what I was looking for,
Thanks so much opticalza for taking some initiative.

with that most likely because you have to recieve and send data from all players in the game while starcraft there usually fewer players thus less data is transfered. My own experience with starcraft 2 is about 50-60kbs max is needed

Great!! I've been wanting to know about it. I was worried it would take too much of my bandwidth. Well, since !@#)%(@#) blizzard decides to force-download the whole patch, i dont have much data left LOL

A 2nd time, a bumped thread today. Why are you doing this guys TT
