Downloaded the file under Free Download and unzipped it into the same folder as the FastSpace program. Then it worked like a charm
Hmm weird. Some people didn't have that error anymore after I updated it. However, turned out that this msvcr100.dll is the new C++ runtime library coming with Visual Studio 2010 so you will need to get it sooner or later anyway (as you might know: 90% of the games out there are written in C++).
So if you ever get that error again with any program then just download that dll and put it in the program folder like this fella did. Either that or install the dll properly on your windows machine which will probably happen soon anyway by installing newer games or updating your OS.

Yes. 10 points for getting Bronze plus 10 additional points for getting Silver and finally 10 points for getting Gold for a total of 30 points (excluding the Terra-Tron Achievement).

Going to dedicate my first post to The Magnificent Lost Viking! Here's the story: I have been playing LV for a couple of days now, every session ends with swollen knuckles after punching my screen (thank god for CRT-monitors). As my frustration grew deeper into my brain, the more obsessed I became with getting the achievement. After many hours of desperation and agony (my hands started hurting, so i had to elbow the monitor instead), I read that plasma wasnt really the way to go, and fuck me sideways, I used side missiles ONE try and I get 500k, I instantly quit after the achievement pops up and I WILL NEVER AGAIN play LV. I must say I am deeply in love with the first poster who said -side missiles-, because that was obviously my magic word. I also dedicate all my rage to the guy on youtube who claimed that "plasma IS THE ONLY WAY YOU ARE GOING TO BEAT THIS!!"
And if Blizzard finds out that "hey, lets just make a 1 MILLION achievement!" I'll go postal in the Blizzard HQ.

After a bit of trying I got very close to victory, only to accidentally pick up the wrong powerup and screw myself right as I went into the third Terratron. Then, I remembered AutoHotkey. Created a script to spam spacebar for me:

Next try I coasted past 500k, piece of cake. I even got it before reaching the third Terratron, because I had an insanely high kill ratio. (I did it with plasma, but it didn't really matter.) Screenshot:
Both plasma and side-missiles have their advantages: Plasma: +Better vs. bosses/minibosses +Faster progress +Can enable conservation of bombs for advanced players (Bomb usage on bosses depends on length of the boss fight, which is significantly sped up by plasma.) +Still 1-hit KOs many things after difficulty increases -Somewhat restricts positioning, requires awareness -More risky -Can allow units to build up -May miss units, missing points
Side-missiles: +Better vs. waves +Better defense vs. screen full of units +Unrestricted positioning +Less dangerous for novices (who struggle with overall awareness and positioning) -Drones already shoot to the side -Unable to focus-fire on bosses/mini-bosses -Bosses take significantly longer
Overall, for advanced players looking to get the highest score possible, I'd recommend plasma until level 15, then switch to side missiles, and using a program/script/macro to spam spacebar for you. As someone mentioned, the 5th terran level onward has too many things going on at the same time to comfortably handle it with plasma. The macro will spare your concentration and hands, and give you maximum firepower. Also, someone mentioned that the drones have their own hit-box, which isn't true. They absorb a hit to your ship, not to themselves.
tl;dr: For noobs: -Use Side-missiles + Drones + Bombs. Maximum is 2 missile upgrades, 2 drones, and no cap on bombs (afaik). Getting plasma replaces side-missiles. -Use Bombs to save yourself, they destroy projectiles and give you brief invulnerability. Especially use them on boss fights, where you won't get replacement for your drone, and many of their shots will instantly kill you despite drones. -Wait for powerups to change to what you want them to be. They cycle through all 4 once before floating off. -If you want to make it easier, get a program to spam spacebar for you. (Try AutoHotkey like me, or the script another guy posted in this thread.)

side missiles or plasma?
side missiles mean you'll use most of your bombs on the boss (since boss fights are longer). plasma means you'll use more bombs against the regular enemies (like when there's a screen full of scourge or wraiths chasing you.
against terratron, i used 5 bombs against him when fighting with side missiles, but only 2 when using plasma (im not that good, so you might need fewer than i did).
4v4 is a battle of who has the better computer.

Honestly if you're having issues with this just track down a copy of Perfect Cherry Blossom, get good at it, discover how much touhou games own, and finally lol at how easy lost viking is. Also if you found this minigame fun also get Perfect Cherry Blossom since it's my fave touhou game and imo the best if you like these kinds of games

Touhou is very different from lost viking. Your hit box is very small in comparison to how much space you're given to move around whereas in lost viking, you explode no matter where you get hit. For lost viking, I got over 500k easily after I got used to the boss patterns. What I did was go for side missiles, drones, and turned the rest into bombs. I mean, you get like 9+ items per stage and if you already have 2 upgrades for drones and missiles, that's 9 bombs which are essentially 9 extra lives if you time it right. Also, just spam space bar for the bosses when you can as it increases your rate of fire, and focus on dodging/holding space bar for the rest.

Yes but it makes Lost Viking very easy in comparison, projectiles move very slowly and you always have plenty of screen space to move around within. I quit my 1st LV play after just getting bored after like 700k with 12 or 13 lives or something like that? It's been months since I touched it
I have Starcraft 2 on alt-tab and am approaching 600,000 points. I think I'm on loop number 4, and the levels seem the same as loop 3. I have about 18 bombs, and 6 lives. I feel like I could play this thing forever if I had the desire to.
P.S.: Here's my guide: 2 drones, Plasma weapon, and an occasional bomb when you are in trouble = never die
