Been cranking out these horrible Insane AI achievements and I've perfected a 7 probe 3 minute 4 second Offensive Cannon rush strat to beat the computer.
Is anyone able to win against insane AI as any race in less than 3 minutes? I still have to beat the 100 as Terran and Zerg....I can win as zerg using a spine crawler rush in under 4 minutes and Terran using reapers in about 6 or 7 I think.

lowest i saw was 3:02
protoss is cannon rush in 3:00-3:15
zerg is 6pool in ~3:30

Got outmatched in 5.20 (1vs2) (as terran)
1vs3 (protoss) 7,something
1vs4 (protoss) 16,someting
Never really tried zerg, but all of those were pretty easy and can prolly be improved.

Try quadruple extractor trick 14 drone rush on steppes? I don't know if it will work. Testing now

they generally gg when their buildings are under attack, and they have been unable to build military to defend for more then 30 secs or so. I think number of workers killed may contribute, but that may just be the shutting down of econ well enough that they can't build any more units due to no money.
I've had computers gg with a decent number of workers left, because the workers can't get to the mineral line, and so the comp has no money.Last edit: 2010-08-25 04:37:05 |

i had one of those strats back in wc3 when you won with human in around 3:30 vs AI insane computer. Remember the AI didnt gg there, you had to kill all buildings  |

If you're looking for the fastest 100 insane AI wins achievement, then yeah cannon-rushing is the way to go.
But don't forget there is also the medium AI achievements, which require 100 wins with each race (including random). You want your wins against the insane AI to count for those too.
Mini-guide for getting the Custom Game AI Romp X Wins achievements
1. Create game on Agria Valley. Pick Random. Opponent is Insane Protoss. Pick random so that each win counts for 5 different achievements:
- Insane AI romp
- Very Hard AI romp
- Hard AI romp
- Random AI romp
- Zerg/Terran/Protoss AI romp (depends on which race you get each game)
2. If you get zerg, 7 pool. If you get protoss, 7 forge cannon rush. If you get terran, 7 proxy rax 2-reaper bunker rush. If you execute these correctly, you will win every game in under 4 minutes.
3. repeat x 100. After 100 games, you will complete the Insane AI romp, Very Hard AI romp, Hard AI romp, and Random AI romp. All that's left is to finish each of the race AI romps, and since your 100 random games counted towards these, you should only have 200 games remaining, all of which can be done against the Medium AI (if you're trying to be as efficient as possible, you can use these 200 games to get the Combat achievements as well).
Using this method you can complete all of the "AI romp" achievements in 300 games, which I believe is the least amount possible. I chose Agria Valley and protoss because I found that those were the best map/opponent to use to be able to quickly execute 7pool/7rax/7forge rush and be able to win every time guaranteed. Terran is probably easier to 7pool, but is harder to 7rax reaper and is a bit harder to cannon rush, since marines are ranged. zerg also easy to 7 pool, but creep makes it harder to cannon rush, and I'm not even sure if 7rax proxy reaper bunker rush works (can't build bunkers on creep). Meanwhile zealots are easy to kill with reapers, lings, and cannons. Thus protoss is the easiest to rush with all 3 races. Agria valley is the smallest 2-player map that also has starting minerals next to a ledge (for cannon rushing). Desert Oasis is also a 2-player map that has the starting minerals next to a ledge, but Agria Valley is smaller, so that's why I chose that map.
edit: oh and make sure you do all the other achievements (3v3 mix, 4v4 kin, blitz, & FFA) ON INSANE before starting the AI romp achievements, as the wins for the others will count towards your AI romp achievements (this excludes the Outmatched achievements, none of these are evenly matched so they don't count towards your AI romp achievements). Have some replay? i did a near 4min vs ia medium in PvT but my pylone was right in the middle of his drones so i really don't see how you can do it much fast vs insane ia. |

Thanks BlasiuS, exactly what I was tryin to figure out and see if I was doing it right. I didn't realize Random counted towards the race you randomed as well as the random itself. Good tip.

| The fastest I've done was a 3:10 Cannon Rush. I have a Spine Rush under 3:30 but the Terran Marine/Bunker seems to take the longest. Doing this in Coop is much tougher since the enemy/map is Random and your partner(s) may not rush at all and try to outmass the AI. |

| I just did exactly the same build as the OP to get a win in 3 minutes and 2 seconds. I think 2:59 is possible if you order your probe perfectly (and click the accept surrender button asap!). |
