Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

[...] After so much torture, you only have 2 ways you can cope. You can either kill yourself (too many of them still take this route), or you can fiercely and unapologetically be your fantastic flaming faggot self. This is the second part. Once gays realize that they can't control it, they will often embrace it and that's when they 'play it up' (though that's such an aweful way to put it). This is the threshold between being gay and being fabulous. Since getting to know many fabulous people, i'm no longer bothered by it in the slightest. Infact, these kinds of people are hilarious, good, amazingly strong individuals. I'm not attracted to them in the slightest, but they definitely don't annoy me like they certainly used to.
This is a fantastic insight. At the same time, the fabulous have it made, being happy about themselves, but at the same time that fabulous attitude, which is basically their symbol of being free of the burden of not feeling good about yourself, is an exaggeration in the other direction, which after a while might feel forced as well hmm? Although I guess the fabulous people who aren't comfortable with their lifestyle, but who don't dare to drop out of a social circle, is quite the small minority. Maybe I'm talking trash here, big disclaimer!
The fabulous never feel forced into acting that way. It certainly is an exaggeration, and is one they'd never give up. It is as much a part of who they are, as important choice that people hold dear. ie: religions, attitudes, dispositions, sports, music, etc.

I'm bisexual, male, and not flamboyant in the slightest.
While I live in a sexually oppressive area I'm not that upset about it because the guys here aren't appealing visually or emotionally. Most of the girls aren't either to be honest...
Edit: I never understood why straight guys didn't want more gay guys and less lesbians. Watching paid lesbians get it on is understandable but real lesbians are just 2 women that a straight guy will never get to have sex with or get to watch have sex. A gay guy is just one less male that a straight guy has to compete with in the pursuit of vagina. It always sounded counter-intuitive to me to want less gays and more lesbians.Last edit: 2010-08-27 22:34:58 |

I had a gay friend in high school, who has been living with his older boyfriend for a few years now. I copped a lot of shit for hanging out with him back at school (he was easily my best friend), and he got even more. He was especially abused by people who were afraid they were gay, who he wasn't attracted to.
I'm wondering how much abuse you have to deal with post high school, due to the more varied groups of people to spend time with, and the relative freedom of adulthood.
god i LOVE being an adult.
Life is so much richer when you have a wealth of experiences to draw on. It's also a lot less scary.
Being free from the chains of highschool/youth allows you to do whatever you want with your life. Some people decide to run with it and others stagnate.
While my sexuality, and my trials through it, have been a very large contributing factor to 'taking life by the balls', it's certainly not so for all queers.
Though to answer your question more directly: I've never met a homosexual who thought life in school was anywhere to close to the joys of being an adult. |

I must say I was VERY surprised the site of boobies saddens you... I thought everyone could enjoy and respect some bouncing boobs. The vaginia is another thing and I can definitely understand why one may not understand the enjoyment of it (without proper care i think a vagina looks scarier than the monster they used in the WATCHMEN comic LoL).
At the same time, i suppose it makes sense because i know I hear that a lot of girls will get completely naked in front of their gay friends because they know it won't matter at all (which would make sense if you don't even like boobs).
Either way I wish you the best of luck in finding some more gay friends on here
BTW, does it upset you when people throw around the gay term in a way making it synonymous with "lame"? Just the other day I had to bite my tongue around my uncle (uncle first so i won't say anything about him), and it was too late since it was a part of the story I couldn't really avoid. I must say it makes it 10x harder to avoid saying it when you come from most gaming communities that use it so much. |

| On topic of gay hate: In terms of stupidity gay hate pretty much takes the cake and since talking about SC strategy requires at least a little bit intelligence you can safely assume that you won't find many gay haters here. But yeah, the video is s sad proof for human stupidity. |

On August 27 2010 21:45 ondik wrote:1) do you prefer to be called "gay" or "homosexual"? I always thought that word "gay" is sort of offensive but that might be because of its internet use. 2) there are men who you can tell at first sight (body language, etc.) are gays, but there are also men who you'd never guess that. According to your post I guess you're the latter - I'm sure you've found yourself in position where a girl was hitting on you. How do you usually react to this? And how do girls react when they find out? Any funny story? 3) you mentioned it's hard to meet other gays. So how do you meet them? Opposing to 2), have you ever been hitting on a guy you thought is gay but he was straight?
1) i used to prefer 'homosexual' and now i prefer gay.
I was entirely comfortable saying "i am gay" up until this year. I could say "I'm a faggot" or "I'm queer", or "I love sucking cock", but just simply stating "i am gay" made me feel very vulnerable.
Now that i can say it, it's my preferred term. It's not rebellious like "i'm a faggot", and it's not hinting with ambiguity like "i am queer" does. It's just what it is. I'm gay.
2) Many girls have hit on me. Many still do.
I play it up. I love attention, and a good kisser is a good kisser. I usually enjoy making out with her until one of either 2 things happen: a) i feel like i'm actually leading her on, and i tell her straight away that i was just having fun b) she wants to get more serious but i'm not interested (which does not always include a)
I've also had sex with girls, so they're not always barking up the wrong tree.
No. I am not bisexual.
3) It's not hard for me to meet gay guys, it's hard for 'fresh' gay guys to meet guys. I've been out and having lots of sex for 2 years or so now. The city i'm from (Vancouver) unfortunately, is very cliquey, so it was hard to actually make gay friends. I joined a gay soccer league last august, and started to meet people through there (200 members). It's only been a year, but i can probably say i have a good 50 gay friends.
That's actually one of the motivators for starting this thread. The way you actually meet people regardless of your sexuality, is to do activities with people you have things in common with. Identifying yourself as gay in addition to the common interest is important for gay people (for reasons already explained). It seemed a simple progression to make a Gay Starcraft thread. Wait, how does that work? Since you could do girls, does that mean they turn you on? I mean a straight guy couldn't get hard for another guy even if his life depended on it. Shouldn't it be the same for gays trying to have sex with girls? Are all homosexuals like this? I'm really curious lol. |

O.o Just the thread I've been looking for. I'll try to keep it terse. Do you think sexuality can have a huge impact on your personal interests such as changing them because of the way you see your sexuality, or would those interests be in a category of unchangeable, and merely bend to how you see yourself?
One's interests are affected by many things. sexuality not excluded. As to the degree? That's completely specific to the interest and the individual. I'm unable to generalize.
Me personally? My sexuality did not much affect what i like to spend my time doing (which is odd, considering that it's heavily impacted by ability to communicate, the people i want to spend time with, my relationships with my family and friends, my job, and pretty much every other area of my life). I've always loved strategy games. I've always loved philosophy. I've always been fascinated by learning.
For example, I've recently been going over what I'm actually interested in, in life. For around 12-13 years I've had a great interest in RTS games(I'm 19 now) and for the past 5 years I was addicted to WoW(I've stopped playing now). I've been thinking that I might've used video games as an escape from some unconscious, suppressed personality. The WoW thing came on during high school, which is when I felt most...segregated and unlike everyone else. Though I don't just play any games, so I might have a genuine interest there. The real issue is the field I chose for university, psychology. In short, after going through years of studying my mind and studying others', I'm not sure if it's genuine or just because I needed something to block the normalization of myself and turn into a cold, calculating, reptilian machine.
People use many avenues to escape from things they feel they need to escape from. One's interests will obviously be high on that list. The question is whether or not a person has discovered a legitimate interest before or after they needed to escape. In the case of the latter, a person may spend a great deal of time doing something that they may not enjoy doing.
I was lucky, i've had several passions since i was a small child.
Do you believe in the non-polar sexuality theory? I kinda made that term up I guess but essentially do you believe that sexuality is not just one way or the other: straight/gay but a person can be like...70% straight and 20% gay lol, and that it's fluid in a way? btw I thought Morrow was so cute when I first saw him at IEM Morrow>Idra!
Yes i do. Very few things in life are actually binary. I believe sexuality is a measure of degrees.
That being said, i consider that pan-sexuality theory a lot less important than i used to. Either you want to fuck or you don't, i don't care whather your gay, bi, or straight.

You don't have to go far back in history to find times that were far more tolerant of homosexuals. Imagine if you'd lived in Ancient Greece for example. Do you feel cheated by the current homophobic trends?
I do not have room for the experience of feeling cheated, especially considering how rich gay life is compared to even 50 years ago.
Are things perfect? no.
Does life have me so incredibly in awe of it that it almost brings me to tears? Almost every day.
Feeling cheated, along with other superfluous negative emotions, (among them being jealousy and anger) i dispense with fairly easily. |

Straight guys will have sex with other guys if the circumstances are right. Not all of them obviously, but the same applies to gay guys. If the circumstances are right then it's a possibility. Arousal is not caused solely by visual stimulation. Imagination and physical stimulation play a pretty big role so it's not so much that a gay guy gets hard for the girl but can still get hard and then have sex with the girl. |

On topic though... Mr Mora, what was your first real relationship with another man like? I assume (perhaps wrongly, correct me) that you were bottom since you like very manly men?
Nope! My first relationship i was exclusively a top.
Unfortunately the relationship was all kinds of messy. I wasn't that sexual at the time for numerous reasons that are unimportant. It was a young relationship (16-19), and in retrospect, "young" is really the only accurate word to describe it.
It was an incredibly important experience for me, and i've not really repeated it since. I dated someone for ~3 months around spring of this year, which was dumb. Other than that i haven't had a relationship since my first one 6 years ago.
I do not plan on having another one any time soon. |
