Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

Do you feel offended when someone in a forum states that something is "gay", not really meaning it? For example, when someone says DTs are gay or something like this..
Not that I do this but I see this so often and sometimes think, "what would someone think now who is actually gay??"

I'm one of the lucky fags that has no lisp or limp wrists - you'd have no idea from talking to me or meeting me. I can hide it with little effort, and people are surprised when I tell them. A few people even still think I'm trolling them. I say "lucky" because I can get around first impressions, job interviews, etc. without having to worry about predisposition and stereotyping. I recently left a job after more than three years of working in a homophobic environment. Sometimes I feel like one of those actors that dresses up as a different race or different gender to see how people react differently. People have no idea I'm not straight, so they don't hold back their homophobia. It's a depressing eye-opener.

So where do i find another guy that has the same interests?
Really glad you brought this up Mora. I'm not fond of drinking/bars/clubs at all, and I don't give any clues about being gay. It makes me feel like I have to find some other way to brand myself or I'll pass by potential partners without ever knowing. I can't exactly go around with a t-shirt that says "yes, I actually am gay" because that's totally not my style. I don't identify with straight people, but not most gay people either. I've always wondered what other straight-acting people do to meet others like them, or if bars, clubs and flamboyancy are the only way.

Why do some gay guys talk with a lisp and have feminine mannerisms? Is this put on or natural? Do you and many other gays find that attractive or annoying?
I used to find it annoying. I used to be really homophobic - in the literal sense of the word. I blamed those feminine, flamboyant guys for why society wasn't fond of gay people. I've since become friends with several guys like that, and it's just the way they are. It doesn't bother me much anymore, but too much is still tiresome. As for why some are like that and some aren't...my guess is it's nature and not nurture - but that's only because I don't know of any stories of people converting either way. I've always been straight-acting. The fems I know have always feminine.

One thing I have always wondered... how do you know? What was the defining moment that made you realize you were gay?
I've always been attracted by guys and turned off by women, but it wasn't until I was 16 where I very quickly became aware that it was uncommon. So in a sense, there was a defining moment where I realized I had always been gay.

do you prefer to be called "gay" or "homosexual"? Does it irk you when the word 'gay' is used as an insult?
I call people fags all the time. Seems like every 2v2/3v3/4v4 protoss player is a huge fag because they always cannon rush me while their buddies two gate and proxy reaper. Honestly, the insult is so common that even I've become desensitized to it's nature. When I call someone a fag, I don't mean to say "Ha! You man-lover! Repent you lesser human!" but rather "hey man, you're making me change my normal habits." I mean, when we say "Jaedong fucking raped Fantasy with a 4pool" we don't actually mean that Lee Jae-Dong used a early Spawning Pool to penetrate Jung Myung Hoon against his will. Thing is, not everyone understands intentions this casually. Insults are all about motive, and I believe that most people calling people gay/fags don't have a homophobic agenda.

Do you feel cheated by the current homophobic trends?
Trends? I don't think so. I have no interest in organized religion, conservatism, or many other homophobic groups. Now, I'm not sure I've just grown up avoiding them or if I truly have no interest in their teachings. What I do feel cheated by is nature. Why do I have to deal with feelings for someone who couldn't return them even if they wanted to? Why can I not return feelings for a person who cares deeply for me? Attraction is totally out of our control, and we suffer greatly for it. Fuck you, nature.

Do you believe that sexuality is not just one way or the other? Shouldn't it be the same for gays trying to have sex with girls? Are all homosexuals like this?
I know I'm 100% into guys and 0% into girls. No amount of drugs or alcohol will change that. I know plenty of people that are more like 90-10, 60-40, or 50-50 perhaps. I know the attraction varies, and I know it's out of their control, but I can't help but think that their upbringing has some sort of influence. Maybe a guy is born and is sometimes attracted to guys but mostly attracted to girls, yet practices Islam and lives in the U.A.E. where homosexuality is punishable by the death penalty. I'd have to think he'd say he's 100% into girls, and perhaps after so many years of that doctrine...he fully believes it?

do gay guys often mistakenly think a guy is gay?
You know, I'm sure there is all sorts of confusion out there. I like to think I have pretty attuned gaydar, though. I'd say it's much more common to be mistaken as straight, as that's the most standard. People don't often ask "So..are you straight?"

What do homosexual players call people who cheese?
FAGS. lol

Do you all play protoss?
LOL - I do!

I can attest to this as well. I come off as a bit asexual because I just don't make overtly sexual comments, nor do I go out "poonhunting" at bars. I go to bars to hang out with friends and enjoy a brew or three, not to chat up random people. So I guess most of my acquantances/friends I'm not particularly close to think I just don't care about sex. Which is somewhat true. I'm actually bi, but nobody ever asks so I don't bother telling them. I'm currently dating a woman, so people make the appropriate assumptions and give the the usual homophobic bullshit. I am a patient person, so I usually let people dig their own grave nice and deep before I bring in the concrete mixer and dump a metric fuckton of bricks on their face. It feels sooooo good to serve a bigot a big steaming pile of their own shit.

Great thread Mora.

Sexuality and gender are like axes on graph. People often move positions on the graph as their desires change and grow. We have a diversity of "quadrants" here on team liquid.

It is a credit to the moderators here that the hateful bigoted savages are kept (mostly) at bay.

What is the social dynamic like between gay guys in clubs as far as approaching each other? Do ultra physically attractive gay men stand around and wait to be approached the way hot girls do in bars? I imagine the dynamic is much easier and that "everyone is in the same boat"...but i don't know :3

Fascinating question.

It's definitely different than straight clubs, for sure.

You'll have people that are very polar in their approach - either they have no qualms about going up to someone and meeting them, or they're very passive and wait for people to come to them. For most of us it's somewhere in between, with other contributing factors such as alcohol, how horny you're feeling, whether or not the other person is signaling you, general mood, etc.

I would describe myself as pretty passive, but i give out lots of signals. Signals are both easier to read/send and easier to entertain than in straight clubs. There's very little 'playing hard to get'. (if you're attracted to some dude and he's trying to fuck you around, you just go make out with his buddy, or your buddy, or the bartender, etc.).

So yeah, signals would include making eye contact for more than 5 seconds. Smiling at someone. Nodding at someone. Grabbing your crotch. Staring at X bodypart (arms, chest, crotch, etc.). Winking (though only a select few people do this, as unless you can pull it off, you look like a goof).

Once signaled, if interested you just go over and start talking to them.

If i'm drunk or really horny then i will often be the one looking around for signals being given. Then again, (this is gonna sound like a brag) i don't go long without getting some sort of signal.

Yeah, i have to say, once you know what you're doing, being gay is pretty easy (at the club). The type of guy i'm attracted to though is usually into my body/confidence/ass, so maybe it's just easy for me? If i was a queeny guy into muscle bears i think it might be a little harder.

I'm just uncertain.

Infact over the past few days i've been really uncertain about this kind of stuff. I had no idea that it was so different between cultures. In Canada i would be considered forward/confident/had experience. Being here in Germany makes me feel like a confused prudish virgin. It's SO different. Every bar has a dark/sex room, and that's not what i usually go to a club for (though getting laid at the end isn't uncommon). But here it's just like you're supposed to meet someone, go to the back, suck/pull/fuck each other, and then go back to the bar and look for another round or something?

When meeting people, and i'm hesistant to go have sex, they give me like super confused looks.

I'm not used to being made to feel like a prude. fuck. super weird.

Infact, a lot of stuff is stuff i've only seen in porn: glory holes, piss caverns, swings O_O. We occasionally will have an event in Vancouver where they get porn stars to fuck on stage or something, or perhaps a leather party where you show up wearing assless chaps. Oddysey (a club) has an underwear party once a month i think where it's a strict dress code to show up just in your briefs.

But Germany is like the next kind of raunch. I plan on getting super fucking drunk tonight to perhaps just give in and try out one of the rooms. I dunno though. It's intimidating as fuck.

This thread is one of the 29755078251078157 reasons I love TL. On pretty much any other forum there would be 400 responses along the lines "fuck you fag, go die" but this has been a true quality thread.

Personally I'm straight but I could give a damn less if someone is straight or gay. Good for you Mora, best of luck finding a sexy gamer for yourself!

Sorta answered this in my other post... but more info:

I've met many men who like the hairless/skinny/flamboyant boys. I've met even more who like masculine/hyper-masculine guys. but there's definitely a good mix in what gays are attracted to.

I like hyper masculine guys myself, but i'm usually okay with 'queeny' speech. As long as they have characteristic masculine qualities and have body hair, i usually buy-in. I prefer the whole manly package though.

Thank God for this post, this have been a mystery my whole life when I see two dudes dating each other and I tell to myself who the hell is the guy and who the hell is the girl?

Looks like it's more of physical preference rather than personality traits

still I can't look at man 2 man action, but I'm cool with gay people since my girl's bestfriend is gay.
I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

Wow thanks for this thread. Wasnt expecting this from TL forums.

I havent read every single post so I might be redundant, forgive me if I am. So, does anyone here "look gay" but isn't? I mean, I'm not fabulous or wearing pink all the time. Just wearing colourful clothes, thin, a kind of "juvenile face", etc.
And it has happened to me quite many times to be mistaken for a gay guy, and hit on by strangers. Thats not a problem at all since I've never really been bothered by that; I'm just wondering if that's the case of other people.

Also, do gay guys often mistakenly think a guy is gay? Or does it only happen once every 10 years?

PS: Im not hit on by guys every day; maybe it happens once a month (Im living in a large city where gay culture is fully accepted, with gay clubs all around)

My gaydar is pretty decent. I think i've gotten the sexuality wrong, hmmm, 3 times or so? (or at least, those are cases where i was able to confirm when i hit on them and they weren't interested. who knows how many i've been wrong about that i never talked to).

I do have arguments with my gay friends sometimes about a guy either being or not being gay. I think we are all confident in our gaydars too.

So, a lot of typing for you with no answer! lol

Question one, are you a bear or a twink?

Question two, are you a power bottom?

Question three, Can a twink be on the bottom or is that reserved for the bear?

Oh man, I know a lot about gay stuff! Even though that's only like 3 questions.

Thanks for this very interesting thread. What's the thought process on gay guys hitting on guys they know to be straight? I know it happens sometimes, and I have a friend that gets hit on quite a bit by a gay guy who knows my friend isn't gay.

My friend is pretty conservative to begin with and this is making him really homophobic. I find it hilarious but I'm just wondering what the gay guy wants to get out of that. Like if I knew some hot chick was a lesbian I wouldn't waste a lot of time trying.
