Does anyone have an idea of how there is going to be a third season? This isn't so much of a problem of ratings but plot as most students only take community college for two years. Either everyone fails or there is some dues ex machina event where the schools or Dean messes up and everyone has to take another year. Sure some of them could mess up and have not taken enough classes, but Annie should be able to plan an appropriate course load.
Though another route is Anthropology teacher fails everyone, which was close to happening in the first season.Last edit: 2011-03-20 02:27:22 |

| It's a premise show with no real underlying plot pushing it forward, it can run this forever just ignore the fact of time passing like other sitcoms of the past, after all although time has moved in real life they could just be making up adventures that happen to them any time. Although holiday themed episodes do mess that up. Last edit: 2011-03-20 02:31:22 |

| School sitcoms can't ignore time though unless it's animated like the simpsons in which case a floating time line is possible. People get older and part of school is progression. Community is already pushing it by having a third season, a fourth for example should be impossible because even if they move to another college Jeff should be done. Last edit: 2011-03-20 02:40:32 |

| Age isn't that much of an issue people play not their age game all the time and seeing as they are all adults past 24 their appearance wont change much per every 5 years imo, it's just a matter of do they fit the age group. I can see them pushing out 2 seasons easily without address time has moved on issue. Last edit: 2011-03-20 02:47:59 |

| Hasn't Jeff said multiple times he intends to stay for 4 years and then get out? Also with Community, I could honestly care less how long it goes as long as the writers keep bringing quality episodes. I can see it going 2 more seasons no problem. |

Edit: He also mentioned he can only get there if he takes a full load every year, which is why he didn't want to take Anthropology. Since he did end up taking it and he can't keep that date, they have as much time as they want.Last edit: 2011-03-20 02:59:10 |

Well Community isn't ignoring time though. It was already part of the plot for 2nd season that Jeff was reluctant to take Anthropology because it could interfere with him graduating in the shortest amount of time possible. They've also graduated classes so even if their looks haven't changed it will be odd to be a 4yr college student at 2yr college when we know what classes they've taken. Even if they fail Anthropology at most it should just be another semester or half a season.
Though another possibility for how a third season is possible is that everyone just takes classes at Greendale even though they don't need to as community college classes can still be helpful once you graduate. Annie could take some because their are limits on how many classes she can take in her new college and some people take PE classes because they're a cheap gym membership. However they would have no reason to stay as study group and their reasons to hang out would be purely social (although it pretty much is already). Anyways I don't see any good explanations for how a third+ season could happen, but I'll be glad as long as it does. |

One of the recurring jokes is Dean Pelton trying to make Greendale more like a traditional university. For example, Greendale has sports/debate teams and big social events like the transfer dance. So maybe they also have a four year curriculum.
Edit: Some community colleges do seem to make the transition to offering bachelor's degrees. Example: St. Petersburg CollegeLast edit: 2011-03-20 03:15:31 |

Does it really matter how many years they go? They could be on year seven and they would just turn to each other and say "Shouldn't we have graduated by now?" and they would just shrug and keep going on with their comedy.
A lot of stuff in community defies reality. Why worry about a silly thing like only going two years to a community college? |

| One of the more enjoyable episodes of Commmunity in a while, even though it wasn't funny I really did like the conversation Jeff had with Abed. |

| It is one of the most awesome shows ever. It is so funny to see almost every scene and even entire episodes being references to other shows and movies. Like the D&D episode with that voice of Galadriel like in LotR or the Paintball episode where every scene was exactly like in popular warmovies or actionmovies. |

Community so great just because of the writing. I mean a metaconversation... a conversation within a conversation about conversations(mind blown)

I didn't think this last episode was really funny, but I still really liked it because I like Pulp Fiction and I like the characters in Community. My favorite part was at the end where it showed them acting out scenes from Pulp Fiction.
Not a good episode to introduce your friends to Community with, though. |
