Hello TL, this is my first post, and fortunately I have something great for you. I know for a fact that the only thing that TL loves more than TLO is someone spading so hard that they find useless kinks and bugs within their favorite game, Starcraft 2. So without further ado, I'd like to present to you:
HOW TO GET PERMANENT POWER... as Zerg (nothing's free you know).
Here's what you need:
Infestors facing off in a deadly struggle of micro with a warp prism and probes.
The Infestors take the initiative, Neural Parasiting BOTH assailants!
Taking advantage of the situation, the Zerg player quickly throws down 4 Gateways, smirking at the Protoss' realization that the tables have turned, that soon it will be the Protoss player screaming "OP!" at his computer today!
The Neural Parasite has run out, and the Protoss player, thinking quickly on his feet, cuts the legs out from under the Gateways, and flies the Warp Prism away.
But wait.... are those Gateways... STILL. POWERED?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Anyway, I hope you abuse this gamebreaking bug before Blizzard patches it. Saving 100 minerals at the all too familiar critical juncture where all you have are infestors and all he has are warp prisms, probes and bad micro could mean the difference between victory and defeat. Good luck out there!
PS. This works on ANY buildings that you might build for those brief 15 seconds masquerading like a 'toss. PPS. Seriously, nothing can take away the power from these buildings... except bullets.
EDIT: I'm using a unit testing map, so the tech tree is completely enabled. So no, you don't get access to an enemy's tech tree when you NP a probe. That would be ridiculous.

This scenario would never happen in a normal game and it really effects nothing..... Still pretty neat I suppose.
|
But how did you build the gateways without a Nexus ?
|
Wow thats interesting. Realistically this won't happen in a real game so I'm not too worried about it right now, but Blizzard should definitely fix it in the near-future/next patch.
|
lol that would be the funniest thing to ever see in a real game I think I would die of laughter
|
Woah, would be cool to see someone usin this on GSL =)

Oh. Thanks for pointing that out.
|
haha, pretty funny.
Only need to do that a few times, then you can fill out the entire protoss tech tree right
|
potentially gamebreaking but if you get enough tech in place to build a nexus and gateways after neuraling a warp prism you've already won anyway
|
loooooooooooool
Thank you for that laugh =)
Gonna have to work this in to the idra bo that just got posted. I'll be rich!
|
Cool find, but obviously not gamebreaking
|
That's it. Game's broken. It'll be 15 Zerg in the Ro16 for the GSL.
|
lol, great first post. Its as useful as the bunker warp morrow invented. Would be great in a 2vs2. Someone using the bunker warp and some Z player using permanent power build! :D
Would be something for funday monday maybe. Like having a game were P has to build warpprisms and probes only against zerg who has to build Infestors only.
Oh, and thanks to those pointing out that this is not realistic for a serious game situation
|
Hmm, I wonder if you can't abuse this somehow in a 2v2 as Z and P...
|
Its strange that the Gates allow HTs and DTs to be build. From what i can see on the screen the toss base is very small and i doubt that the toss had both Tech buildings for the Temps.
If you can use this to build both Temps without tech its "not so non game changing anymore".
@ OP: Were both Tech buildings for Temps in the Toss main base or not?
|
You can't build gateways without a nexus. (Atleast protoss can't). Where did you hide the nexus you build ?
|
I seriously want to see a Z np'ing a probe and using it to expand.. that would just be amazing. Terribly bm probably, but still amazing.
It would even set up a situation where this might be used :D
But realistically, yeah, not happening. Neat trick, though, OP.

I'd expect this thread title to get changed to "Permanent Power: USELESS Bug." if not shut down.
|
Yes this is a bug. When the powerfields changes control from Zerg back to Protoss. It makes that power field permanent. Blizzard will fix this but when they do you can simply make a pylon in the middle of the 4 gateways.
Interesting discovery I may add.

Wow, everyone ITT cannot take a joke post for what it is...
