ScC 1.4.2b is Released!
Troubleshooting tips: IMPORTANT + Show Spoiler + BNet Style ScC Player not working issue + Show Spoiler + On February 14 2011 03:06 Gamgee wrote:Ah ha! I've now got the new player working. It looks like the issue was simply that I didn't have Flash installed, per se - I use Chrome as my main browser, with IE as backup. Since Chrome comes with its own flash player, and IE uses the ActiveX plugin, I'd never had any need to install the standalone Flash plugin that other applications would use (and Adobe likes to be helpful and not let you install it again easily). It's possible that other Chrome users would have this issue as well; if so, here's the easiest way I found to install it: 1) Open a new tab in Chrome. Type in Code: about lugins into the address bar, hit enter, find Flash Player. If you click the + Details button in the upper right of the page, and Flash Player only lists "gcswf32.dll" as the plugin file, then you don't have the Flash plugin installed. 2) From that Plugins page, disable Flash, and then navigate to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer; if the native flash player is still enabled, it will just say "Chrome comes with Flash, so use that k?", but with it disabled it will let you download and install the latest version. 3) Go through the flash install process there - once done, check the plugins screen, and you should notice that Flash now says (2 files) next to it, and has two listings when you click the + Details button. You can now disable the listing for "\NPSWF32.dll", and re-enable the listing for "gcswf32.dll", to use the built-in flash player for Chrome again.
Changelog + Show Spoiler + - Reworked how stream listing works. Can now handle more streams and is very stable. (active) - Reworked how adding a stream to our list works. This does not affect the user. (active) - Fixed a problem with justin.tv streams showing up as offline in old player (active) - Fixed a problem with the own3d overlay (Informing you that own3d doesn’t support auto play yet) showing up when you tried to switch FROM a own3d stream (should be when switching to). - Improved the look of new player settings, you can now see the stream you’re tweaking :D - Reworked how stream notifications work. New setting: Display all stream notification / Only favorites. - Added more information to streams. Language, league (including bw), featured (TL), race (and caster). Default is Caster (microphone icon). **** This will progressively get more accurate! If someone is filed as a caster/terran/other but isn’t please send us the correct information though feedback or the Teamliquid topic! This information is put in manually so everyone does not have their correct information yet! **** - Lock ratio option (for easier resizing) added - The name bar now doesn't show when in flash mode. This enables the user to have access to justin.tv resolution controls. Added a notification about how you can toggle the flash back off with T. - Reworked the look of new player overlays. - Removed borders from all windows - Updated the styles for ALL windows to remove most of the battle.net 0.2 ripoffs. - Experiment: Removed old style windows (to see if anyone will notice, also they’re ugly) - Added a retry option if the server fails to get stream information on startup.
Changelogs are boring tho right? So ;
WHAT'S NEW?
- First of all , we now got RACE and LANGUAGE information for streams.
- We also got a MUCH MUCH better stream notification system , so I really doubt you'll miss any streams with ScC anymore.
- We also changed the main style a bit , windows are less bulky now and looks much better ( at least to me )
- We removed all old styles which increased performance and stuff. So yea it works&feels faster now!
- Oh another big thing , ScC Stream Player is now a STAND ALONE APP! I tweaked it to work as a stand alone application and ScC setup will create a shortcut on desktop so whenever you want to watch streams , you can directly jump in player just with a double click !
- Lots of other UI improvements , ie ; - ScCPlayer top bar is not blocking Justin quality settings anymore - ScCPlayer Settings layer is smaller so you can see the stream while tweaking Contrast & Brightness

oh damn can you be more specific about the problem , isn't there an error message etc.? does it crash instantly , or after loading bar appears? Also installer should have checked it beforehand but you got .Net 3.5 right ?Last edit: 2010-11-04 07:33:23 |

Could you make an option to choose what screen the notifications pop up on? For multi-monitor setups it'd be awesome to move it to my off-screen.
It's awesome anyways though, good job! |

Aww i totally forgot about multi-screen I'll see what i can do asap. But please tell me more about your experiences whenever you want , because I'm having a small scale heart attack after this XP problem we're having
And yes , i just installed XP in virtual machine and it seems something is wrong with XP compatibility. I'll work on it now but I'm afraid it'll take time. I'll do my best but till then , I'm afraid i have to say ; XP is not supported
I also decided to change Framework from 3.5 to 4.0. It's much smaller than 3.5 and somewhat better for some functions etc.Last edit: 2010-11-04 09:13:02 |

This is actually very impressive. Really like and love the idea. Gonna download now and have a play. Are you planning on releasing the source code at any point?
#And I just actually read the rest of the post, cheers :DLast edit: 2010-11-04 10:34:06 |

I just solved the XP problem! It's such an unbelievably problem that I'm still in awe. Here is the story if anyone cares ; It turns out there is a difference between Vista icon's and XP icon's and for some reason a WPF application using an icon with .png in it ( aka Vista icon ) crashes the application instantly without any warning/error etc. So yes , my whole application suddenly become unavailable on Xp systems because of a 64x64 png image burried in an ico file -_-
I'm uploading XP compatible version in a minute.
Tytanium - I also checked dual monitor stuff and I'm pretty sure i can implement that without too much trouble but the problem is ; i have one monitor so there is no way i can test the code if it's working or not I'll try to arrange somethings in a few days tho.

Tone - Thanks man , i hope you'll like it
ZoidbergMD - Hmm it looks like something about ie is wrong. Actually Stream Player window , hosts an ie browser ( which is why it uses more ram than any other thing in application ) ; and to watch streams in Stream Player , you must have IE Flash Player installed. Can you please check adn tell me if it's installed ? IE Flash Player is different than FireFox or Opera flash player tho , so you may not have it if you're using one of them.
ScC 1.2.1b is now XP compatible ( or at least it should be ). I tested it on a virtual machine but still it would be awesome if someone else can check&report |

| Yup, that worked. I had flash installed only on Firefox and not IE. Thank you for the help, and keep up the amazing work, this is one of the best apps I have ever seen in my life. Fantastic work! |

I checked that in early stages of ScC development and decided TLPD support isn't really useful as I'm linking any player/map name to TLPD directly anyway. ( so i don't need details about player/map )
But somehow i just saw UserStreams Support NOW and died a little inside. Thanks to my awesome reading comprehension , I created a web service with threading and other sorts of magic to gather data off 300 streams xml in 50 seconds and actually was pretty proud of that part of my code ( not included in ScC Source Code , that's another web application project ). I'll contact zatic asap to learn about details like formatting etc.
Thanks RaGe
emperorchampion - Oh glad to hear that. My words about performance was probably exaggerated as I'm kinda obsessed with performance related stuff. ( probably because I'm rather bad at writing high performance code ). Nice to hear it's running smoothly on your machine Last edit: 2010-11-04 12:01:48 |

Hey, I had this exact same problem and with many other things using Internet Explorer, it had something to do with the ActiveX plugin with it and I just used to deal with it for months, finally did some looking around and found a way to fix it.

Go there and follow those steps, fixed it for me so good luck.
Edit: Also, it's working on xp.Last edit: 2010-11-04 13:31:35 |

StarcraftCalendar has stopped working
A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is availiable
Yup it was the .Net framework - The installer didn't check the first time for some reason, but 2nd time was the charm.Last edit: 2010-11-04 16:59:27 |
