I've read this entire thread. There are many useful gems in here. I recommend anyone who has not read it to read it and bookmark it.

As for my own tip, learn how to cook. Not only do you need good, healthy and cheep food. Cooking can also be good stress relief, and relaxing.

You're supposed to increase the proof so beer before liquor would be the right way of drinking.

If you're planning on masturbating, eat a banana beforehand. Not only will it give you protein, but you can jerk off into the banana peel and throw it out avoiding any mess/tissues.

Isn't the the point of alcohol?

I know it's crazy... but some people like the taste. Should try more variety if you think that's the point.

Nobody can tell me honestly that they enjoy the taste of liquor more than, say, some kind of juice or milk or soda. The point of drinking something alcoholic is for its psychoactive properties and/or social pressures.

I very much enjoy the taste of liquor to soda or juice. Milk is delicious though.. but that's another story.

when you're writing a paper and are trying to shorten it to meet the length requirement, you can cut a a few lines by going to the paragraph box > line and page breaks tab > unselect widow/orphan control. this stops word from moving lines from the bottom of a page to the top of the next page to keep paragraphs looking pretty. and if it doesn't seem like it's working, check it again, cause I've noticed it likes to revert back to selecting widow/orphan control

Similarly, if you have a paper due that's based on page requirement (and is preferred to be printed by the Prof,) you can ctrl+F, find all periods, replace all periods with 14/16 font. When it's printed out it's virtually unnoticeable and depending on how long your paper is, it can create another page and 1/2. Ezpz.

Apologies if already mentioned

I've always peeled bananas like that.

I hate it when the last piece of banana has that little crappy part, opening it like that lets me remove it right away.

Drink a lot of water to wake up everyday refreshed. You'd be surprised at how little water most people drink.

If you're wondering how much water you should drink in one day, fill up an empty 2-liter soda bottle with water and try to drink that in one day and you'll have gotten your recommended amount. I've been drinking a ton of water lately and I've been so much more energized and refreshed.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I would drink nonalcoholic beer before soda any day.

Maybe I'm crazy too, but a good bourbon or scotch tastes waayyyyyyyy better than some lame juice, milk or soda. :D

Thank you therick. I'm not sure how well I can trust most of the tips in this thread, they seem to mostly just be based on anecdotal evidence and may therefore not apply to everyone.
eg:

Don't feel pressured to be in a relationship because all of your friends are in them, they aren't super awesome.

Is this true for everyone? I think a relationship could be great for some people.
Yeah I'm afraid to take most of the advice in this thread.

1. Work in groups in University.
Other people will keep you on track so you study more efficiently. If they are heavy talkers (they talk that loudly!) use headphones.

If you are an engineering student: Copy assignments and use the extra time you save to study for exams. When you get stuck on a problem, ask for help, don't spend hours trying to understand a topic through a dense textbook. Swallow your pride.

Study smart, Work Hard stay focused when studying, Play Hard, don't go to parties if you will be thinking about an exam the next day.

2. Keep a diary, write about what happens in your life, analyze situations, and try to not make the same mistakes twice. The ability to adapt is more important than anything else.

3. Take initiative. You have to try. Always try your best at everything that you do. Perhaps initiative isn't the right word denotatively, but it just seems to fit.

4. Never give up. All of your problems are fixable.

5. Don't get addicted to anything, (for me games and internet). There's nothing worse than losing control of your own self. Actually... don't even play games, being good at starcraft gives you a talent that has virtually no use in real life. People try to rationalize that it exercises the brain, but my brain probably needs more rest than exercise.

Suggestion 1 might work for some people, but it certainly isn't universal. I hated studying in groups of more than 2. I was an engineering student. I would usually work alone or make friends with one other smart person in my class and work on homework simultaneously with that one person. This way, we wouldn't get distracted and if one of us had difficulty, the other would teach the solution.

Don't copy assignments, lol. That is a really stupid suggestion because doing the homework problems IS the preparation for the exam.

Asking for help is only good because it establishes relationships with other students/instructors. Having relationships with other students is good because they will ask YOU for help, and one of the best ways to cement your own knowledge is to teach it to someone else.

Finally, don't go to parties. It is a waste of time and does little to establish strong social connections.

I have to hire engineers as part of my job (civil, structural, electrical). Please, for the love of God, don't copy other people's assignments. You're going to kill somebody!
