I have been using a pair of Goldring NS1000s on the bus to work for about six months now, best pair of headphones I ever bought. Love the isolation + detachable lead.

You can get some old '70s stereo speaker amps. A lot of them have some pretty decent MOSFET headphone amp sockets and they can be had for a song. Avoid the other Solid-Sate stuff from that period though. |

I won them also they are 100 dollar headset that sounds like a 100 dollar headset even on a laptop, and it sounds just fine for me. Granted a have a proper sound card and speakers but i'm on my laptop alot more, so i posted that. I have a set up that audiophiles tend to be more pleased with, logitech Z-2300 + Asus Xonar D2X = great sound overall, only issue is asus doing shitty drivers caused me too many headaches, it's a bit cleaner then my old auzentech sound card but really i wont know the difference unless you play it against each other and if that's the benefit i rather have saved my money.
Overall the audiophile community lives in denial, if you never give sound things the time of day ofc things are always gonna seem better your way. Quality of sound to Money is logarithmic with it being an decreasing 2nd derivative most times on a computer things will sound great is you spend around 150 USD between the thing that will produce the sound and the device to which you listen to it, but i'm a sukker for shiny new things.Last edit: 2010-11-13 10:02:39 |

Using some old Sennheiser 415s. They get the job done, open and full of bass - the way I like it. (Can't say for the same for the people who hear my music around me though) |

yea, that's why I've been sticking with my HFIs for a long time. DT990 and D5000 are also alternatives but I don't really know >< |

I had good headphones once, unfortunately every pair i get one of the wires gets loose or something and one side stops working every 2-3 months. It's made it hard for me to buy a good system |

AKG K81DJ for my computer, "entry-level" but nice bass and sound quality... and compared to other higher-end headphones I've tried elsewhere, it stacks up quite nicely.
And I have a MEElectronics M6 IEM for my Cowon i9. Best IEMs I've used so far, good for exercising (doesn't fall out of your ears, convenient shirt clip, and no microphonics) and it seals outside sound really nicely.Last edit: 2010-11-13 09:51:09 |

Yeah, I've bought CX500's which stopped working, then some Head-Fi RE0's which stopped working too. Not splurging money on a good pair of IEM's until I can assure myself I won't wreck them again. |

What happened to the RE0's? They're built like a tank! I've used them for over a year now. |

Perhaps too much strain on them. Try IEMs that have kevlar reinforced cables, and detachable cables --> so if your cables break you don't need to replace the drivers. |

AKG K 271 mk II Awesome in everything you do, lacks a tiny bit on the bass but otherwise these don´t "lie" to you. I use these to monitor stuff I play and for music too, sometimes I listen music with these on the go too. Doesn´t need an amp which is great. I´ve had these for a year now in constant use, I mean I don´t even have speakers for my computer setup yet...these don´t start hurting your ears unless you use these for like 30-40 hours. Great value.
