So, I have been keeping tabs on various tricks and have been making videos and thought that TL could use a single post for all of the tricks and lesser known things of SC2. So, here are a few videos of what I have seen/found out: Building jumping in SC2: + Show Spoiler +
Cloak dodging: + Show Spoiler +
Exploiting the pathing AI: + Show Spoiler +
Colossus Skywalking (this will probably be fixed): + Show Spoiler +
Effects of Neural Parasiting Detection: + Show Spoiler +
An effective way to protect yourself from hellion harass: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=172241
There are some other neat tricks that can be used too, but I cant remember what they are... so maybe this can be a central location for such things.
EDIT: Hid the wall of videos.
Adding more from this thread
Using this positioning for a colossus results in melee units being unable to attack due to it being neither above nor below a cliff. (MDew) + Show Spoiler +

You can do that with blink too.

If you position a colossi on a cliff, such as
No melee unit in the game can hit it from ANY SIDE. Only range/air can hit it. So units like zealots/zerglings/ultras/DT cannot hit a colossi on a "cliff crack".

the colossus trick also works for reapers

I don't get the effects on mind controlling an observer, can someone please explain?

It seems it makes it stay visable.

Guess I could clarify that one, the area that the observer (or any detector) sees at the point that the MC breaks is permanently detected as long as you have a unit (or something) in the area. So if you MC an observer at your ramp or something, then any cloaked units that enter that area are detected. It doesnt provide vision sadly, but it does show cloaked units.

The AI pathing....argh. When will blizzard smarten up and remove the freaking attack priorities...sigh.

is cloak dodging really a bug? the animation looks slightly wierd but once a unit is cloacked it shouldnt be able to be damaged even if the shots were fired before it cloaked. and it cant really be abused since cloaking uses up 25 energy on the spot so cloaking and uncloacking is pointless.
|
It's not a bug, just looks really stupid.
In one of the GSL matches, I think with SlayerS`BoxeR, a banshee is scanned and 2-3 vikings are shooting it, and as the banshee runs away, a final volley that would kill it is fired, but it gets just out of scan range, and the viking missiles explode and don't kill the banshee :/

I remember tasteless seemed very confused

Yeah I knew that...but I had no clue it would work with cloak. Blink makes sense because the stalker is no longer where it was, but phased into a new part of the map. Cloak just makes the banshee invisible...it shouldn't mitigate damage >_> oddddddddd

Imagine if a Raven did a SM on some poor unit. If that unit cloaks and runs away, the missile loses it's target and by default, will just travel to where the unit was last (visibly) and explode there. The unit shouldn't take damage because the projectile never hit it, right?
Viking missiles (though it's not immediately obvious) are homing, just like the SM. That's why they don't miss. If the unit is moving, the missiles will still hit it, no matter how fast the unit is. If the unit a viking shoots at cloaks, then the missile loses target. And will go to where the was last visibly seen, and it will explode there. The unit is no longer there, therefore, like the earlier case, it doesn't deal damage, it's not a bug.
But wait, the target WAS where it was. The banshee hardly moved at all after it was cloaked. The missile did look like it was hitting the banshee. Well, the missiles don't have any splash whatsoever. So if they don't technically hit the unit, it won't deal any damage, even if it looks like it should.

The banshee one is useful in Viking wars, if you opened Banshees with Cloak, especially if they stack their Vikings (which is normally good). Then you can run in with the Banshee first and eat a round of fire, following close behind with your Viks so they get the first volley.

Cloaking and Blink dodging are stuff that existed in war3 (learned from DOTA :D), pretty cool that they are still around. Magic boxes with mutas should definitely be in here.
