I've got the Roccat Kone+ and i'm perfectly comfortable with it. I think its good for everyone who has a big hand and likes to play with high sensivity (even though i think that no one really needs 6000 DPI). My only issue was that the cursor used to move around the screen when I was not using (e.g. watching a movie or writing something) but I think its fine since I got a new mousepad (but the Kone is pretty picky when it comes to mousepads).
There's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake.

Aside from the deathadder, are there any other ZERO acceleration mice? Mouse acceleration has started driving me nuts.

Well, technically, even the Deathadder shows a little inconsistency. There is a good post on overclock.net which shows this:
The Deathadder (DA) is a little inconstant at speeds beyond 2 m/s. The Mamba for exampale, which uses a Philips Twin-Eye, has superior tracking over the DA at all movement speeds (still, the z-axis tracking renders the Mamba useless). Only at movement speeds of about 3 m/s is a slight negative acceleration kicking in for the Mamba (but at that speed the DA malfunctions already).

Also: the positive acceleration of the G9x is visible, as is it's inconsistant tracking (it looks a bit like sinus waves).

tl;dr: The perfect sensor has not been built, yet.

I just purchased a Steelseries Kana.

Would a hard or soft mouse pad be optimal for this mouse?

Would you guys advice that I purchase feet?

I got a CM Xornet and it's fantastic. I used to use a Logitech M305 though, so I'm not the most attuned to the accuracy of mice, but I can attest to the comfort and value that this mouse offers.

I got the Cyborg Rat7 for Christmas as a gift, and it is a significant improvement from a standard USB mouse that ships with a computer. I wouldn't necessarily seek it out or recommend spending money on a RAT, as the Death Adder is quite possibly the best fit for my hand and play style.
I did use patience and effort to customize the shape and swappable pieces to fit me just so, and I feel much more accurate, with fewer misclicks. The one button I felt I'd use the least it turns out to be most useful, the precision/snipe button decreases the sensitivity (to the point of your choice) for situations where you just can't quite click the spot you want. I don't play many FPS, but it's intended for sniping... I should take it into quakelive for a trial...
Great for unique-shaped hands, great for macro mouse, you can get a little creative, but you can't bind mousewheel with the software that comes with it.
Poor choice per dollar, but fantastic if you're looking for a mouse with customizeable weight, extra buttons, or a little aesthetic appeal for your desk.
...u win or u die.

Do you use that "precision button" for SC 2? Maybe for the minimap? To be honest, I don't think such CPI changing buttons make much sense for SC 2 ...

For the mousepad it really depends on your preference, because optical mice work the same on both soft and hard pads. Apparently laser sensors work better in hard pads, less positive accel etc.

The mouse feet are god awful. However if you like them by all means continue using them. I would suggest switching the feet to corepad skatez but i hear that steelseries kinzu glides are good as well.

Yea, the problem with the skates on the Kana is that they are plastic and not teflon so you probably should get teflon skates along with the mouse. Also it sounds like black mousepads would be better (e.g. not colored or have designs) if you're worried at all about malfunction rates of the mouse.

I'm a fingertip/claw user (80/20), currently looking to buy a laser corded mouse. Was considering a DeathAdder because at least 20 people (including guys at a shop) have told me it's practically perfect for me, but after reading through almost this entire thread people have been saying it's best for palm, and there are much better alternatives for fingertip/claw like Xai or Imperator. Not to mention the countless pages of people claiming their Razers have broken down (double-clicking with one press, or mouse wheel dying, etc) after less than a year of use.

So, mouse gurus, any suggestions for me? Also suggest a mousepad to go with that if possible <3.

OK guys. I'm looking to buy a new mouse. I currently have a Logitech G500 and its starting to break slowly. I am right handed and I use the palm grip. I measured my hand from the fingertip of my middle finger to the very bottom of my hand and it's around 7.5" long (19-20cm). I am looking for something with a better sensor than my G500 but also something that will work on a cloth or hard mousepad. Something lighter than my G500 would be welcomed but not necessary.

I wholeheartedly agree, the DA is a well regarded mouse, but would be terrible for a claw/fingertip grip as it is a pretty large mouse. I'm not sure I would get the Imperator because of the PTE sensor. If you never lift your mouse it might be ok though. I'd say the Xai and Imperator are even perhaps too large/heavy for a good fingertip grip, but that's my own preference. Have you looked into smaller mice, like the CM Spawn, Azurues mini, or maybe the G1, or Abyssus?

You have hands my size lol. If you really like the ergonomic feel of the G500, get the G400 (newer models have either the 3090 or a flashed 3080E, both opticals), it's a better mouse than the G500 (9500, laser) and is the same dimensions. If your looking for something else, maybe give the Deathadder a try, or maybe the Naos 5000 (same sensor as the G500)?

I think that bare G9 or Abyssus would suit you really well.

I'm not a mouse guru, but I have a similar style (fingertip/claw) and I think the Razer Abyssus is a really good mouse for that style. It's light enough that you can move it quickly even with low pressure fingertip grip but solid and with enough mass that it doesn't feel like it's flying all over the place.

That being said, the Abyssus is the first gaming mouse I've ever owned so I can't speak to the rest. Prior to buying it I looked at a LOT of different mouse designs/forms and felt that this would be good for my/your style.

Wow, swift replies TL! <3
In fact I was looking into the Abyssus as well. At the moment in the office this is what I'm using, which is weird because I'm finding it more fitting for my hands than my mouse at home, even though it's wireless, way too light for my tastes, and seems to have low DPI (I'm dragging it across an entire mousepad when the screen resolution is like, 1024x600. Doesn't have settings I can change either. Note that I'm using two 1920x1080 screens at home.

I can probably stop by some shop on my way home tomorrow to check out the Abyssus and the Imperator (they only carry a few brands, Razer and Team Scorpion).

How's the Abyssus in terms of durability? I'd much prefer a mouse that's easy to clean, and I'd hate for a lot of crap to build under the surface or in between the cracks in a really short time.

Much appreciated!

I personally use a Razer naga. The reason for it is the amount of high dpi. I play @ 5600 dpi with maxinum mouse sensitivity and max mouse speed. The reason I use the naga is simple. My hands are pretty small. the Cellphone pad allows me to use more control groups than I would normally be able to use. also the size of the naga is unexpectedly very small. It's about a circle smaller than the death adder. The grip shape also feels very natural. It's just an overall very good mouse with alot of options.

So I tried a friends 3600 DPI mouse, cant remember what it was.

And jacked everything up to max sensitivity so I was obviously getting a massive amount of pixel skipping. Probably couldnt mouse over 75 percent of the screens pixels.

If I even minorly flinched my cursor would be flung like an inch in any direction.

How the fuck is that control? >.>

What monstrous resolution are you playing at?

Standard 1600x900 also I play with mouse acceleration.

Im not allowed to link Flash memes but I am thinking it so hard right now.

Do you think that with maybe a slightly different mousing paradigm you could avoid accidently reselecting too much of your marine ball?

I think it might, but Max setting everything is alot easier to remember than a specific setting. Honestly I train to work at this setting rather than Set the setting to work for me.

So 5600 DPI really isnt enough for you for 1600X900?

I mean you can train all you want, but the problems associated with playing at not 6/11 at windows sensitivity actually can't be overcome by humans. Unless you are somehow that guy from "The Mothman Prophecies" and can see the universe as it really is.
