Damn, after using the Sensei for almost 1 week i get the same problem as i did with the Xai mouse... When the mouse dont respond correctly, i thought it was the Xai or maybe the black Qck+ i used. But now i have a Sensei with a Qck+ SK edition and a new windows install and now the same problem occured
Is anyone familir with this problem and know how to solve the problem? |

Solve what problem? What's it doing?
You should get a SS 4hd or 9hd mouse pad for the sensei (or xai). Laser mice are kind of picky sometimes and like hard pads way more than the qck.Last edit: 2012-04-29 12:52:26 |

I've also heard that laser mice are picky but also i've heard a lot of people using this combination (sensei+qck). But is that the only way to avoid this problem i guess i have to look at another mousepad. Thanks! |

I play with my Xai Qck mini for about 14 months now and never had any problem with it. I think I got lucky, but next week I gonna buy the Kinzu V2 so even the theoretical problem should be solved by then^^ |

Hey...
So I've been using the Steelseries Kinzu. I like the mouse just fine.
Then I went to Blizzcon, and I was like holy shit... all the mice just glide super nice. All of them. Whereas my mouse goes about 2 inches if you just sort of push it along a mousepad like a hockey puck, these mice feel like they would glide forever on a perfectly frictionless surface.
I imagine it's the teflon mousefeet these mice have, and the steelseries kinzu, being a budget mouse, has plastic feet.
I was wondering just... how people felt about that. I'm completely used to my mouse (I play at 6/11 and 400 CPI, which I understand is extremely low sensitivity compared to most people.. so that's on top of my slow mouse), but you know, I was interested in maybe getting a new mouse sometime.
I don't really need one, but I sort of got this mechanical ducky keyboard and holy shit, it's just so much more... fun! to play on. I was wondering if maybe buying a better mouse would do the same thing. I guess I'm just asking to waste my money, but, I was just sort of wondering what others thought of this. I like my mouse, so there's not really any problems. It's just odd. |

If you like your mouse but want a faster glide, consider a new mousepad with a slicker surface (e.g. maybe try a hard mousepad if you have a cloth one).
IMO the single most important thing about a mouse is being used to the shape, so changing it randomly can cause unnecessary annoyance |

I've tried different mousepads, and that isn't the issue. Right now i have a diablo3 steelseries mousepad, like the nice one they used at blizzcon and stuff. But I've tried other mousepads.
It's definitely the plastic feet. |

| Ok so I've had the Steelseries Kinzu now for about 3 months. Coming from a Logitech MX518 I have to say, the Kinzu is horrible. I play at low sensitivities and I like large mice. I find it really uncomfortable. The mouse only has three butons aswell. I rely on side buttons for PTT on ventrilo and teamspeak and they are really handy for games. Secondly it has this stupid button on it that is used to control dpi. Half the time when I press it it freezes my computer and goes into left handed mode. I'm not even holding it down which is what is supposed to switch it. Also, sometimes when I do want to change the dpi from high to low, something goes wrong and when I press it I can't go back up to my normal dpi. I think I'll be getting an Ikari soon. I tried them out at inferno online and they are really nice mice. I wouldn't reccomend the kinzu to anyone though. I've had nothing but trouble with it. |

OK, so I finally released my massive project on mouse technology that I've been working on for the last six months or so. Hopefully this will clear up, or answer any questions about the technical operation of the mouse that you may have, and what to look for in purchasing decisions. :D

| I just got a Razer Abyssus and I'm using a QCK, are there any known issues with this combination? Feels kind of odd, but that could just be me adjusting to the new mouse / shape etc. |

Awesome. I'll put it in the OP and go through the Technical Guides section at work tomorrow ^^ |

TT Esports Black Element: Whilst looking like the ideal mouse with a breadth of options it is so only on paper. I've had pixel skipping with two of these. I couldn't find a single surface the laser would work reliably with. After giving this mouse a good few months I returned to my copperhead to feel instantly at home again. Truth is is that unless you have Hulk-Hands this mouse is just going to be too big for you; with palm grip you're very limited in vertical movement as it will hit your palm very quickly and the same issue can even be had with fingertip grip. Forget claw grip, even with all the weights out this mouse is just too heavy and bulky to move comfortable, let alone the visually pleasing fin-like edges.
My Razer Copperhead died, the second Black Element pixel skipped so I decided to go with korean edition salmosa.... the sensor is 10x more reliable except I want the setting I spent 6 years using that the copperhead provided me- 1600dpi
I am by no means bashing Thermaltake for their gaming products. I have no faith in their mice but their headsets and keyboards I can definitely vouch for their value in bang to buck ratio.
TL:DR ThermalTake mice are iffy. Can anyone recommend a good mouse that offers 1600 dpi. I'm a fingertip gamer with 6 years experience using copperhead. Getting another copperhead is an option but I want to place it as a last resort as I won't be able to get them forever. I'm currently looking at razer krait that I can pick up for £25 but that is also out of production. Also could 1800 dpi feel way too high to me just because this korea salmosa is TINYLast edit: 2012-05-02 12:42:22 |

I love my kinzu (although a bit concerned about the cheapo plastic feet instead of teflon, im used to it, and cant stand teflon feet now).
I understand your concern about the middle mouse button, but you should be able to change it to be able to speak instead of DPI profile switching with x-mouse control.
It sounds like most of the issues your mentioned are with you, not the mouse. Whenever I push the middle button, it switches profiles just fine. I've never had anything freeze up, or glitch it. It works exactly as intended, the profile changes (if you don't want it to accidentally switch, just make both of the profiles exactly the same, or re-assign the button in x-mouse).
I think the mouse is perfect if you like low sensitivities. I think the dull feet go perfectly if your a low sensitivity type of guy. I guess I'm a low sensitivity guy, I never thought of myself that way, but I play on 400 DPI and 6/11, and I hear everyone else saying they play on like 2000DPI/CPI, or how some mice are better because the DPI/CPI can go up higher. |

400 is low-sens lol. A lot of the pro FPS players play around 400 to 450 I believe. |

Okay, OP updated with link to wo1fwood's guide, and I removed some of the other stuff that was in there. I'll be editing the remaining stuff throughout the week. I'm also going to see if I can get that purchasing guide finished finally this week as well as edit the Purchasing Guides section; it's kind of a pile of poo right now.

what do most sc2 people play on? 400 dpi/cpi on 6/11 is like what most mice on regular pcs are set to. Are you saying like, gamers set their sensitivity really high or something?
I just use what's average. I didn't know everyone just cranks up their sensitivity :O

I'm not sure what most people like, but it's safe to say very few play at 400 dpi and still use 1:1 cursor movement, especially if they have the option of raising their DPI.
Alot of it depends on how big your screen is. I suppose if your resolution is TINY you could get away with 400. Personally 400 just seems nuts to me no matter how you cut it, but i guess whatever works for you works.
I use 2700 dpi on my 2560X1440 screen.Last edit: 2012-05-03 15:29:45 |

I use 1600 and 6/11 on a 15.6" screen with 1920 x 1080 as my resolution. I scale that down to 800 when I play FPS.
Most RTS players use something from 1600-2500ish I assume.
