I've tried the Razer Spectre and it's pretty decent for my purposes, but I prefer the shape of the salmosa.

I'm looking for one that has 5 buttons, mainly the forward and back buttons on the left side. The salmosa doesn't have those, otherwise it would be perfect for my needs.

Are there any that are the same size/shape but have the forward/back buttons?

Can't think of one with the same size/shape that has side buttons.

Closest I can think of is maybe the Zowie AM or the Steelseries Kana/Xai/Sensei.

I've ordered a new computer and monitor, and I'm worried about how I can get the same mouse feel on the new computer, especially in SC2. I've been playing with accel off, 6/11 in Windows, 400 DPI on the mouse (CM Storm Spawn) and usually 1600x900 resolution. The new monitor will have a full HD resolution (1980xsomething). Is there a way to calculate this or?

Your best bet is to play at around with different DPI settings with your new monitor. Keep trying new settings until you are comfortable. I would try at around 800 DPI, I've used 400 DPI on a 1920x1080 screen (full HD) and its a pain navigating since the sensitivity is so low. Don't touch your windows settings of 6/11, accell off. Change game sensitivity and in the driver. If you are used to your old setup, it won't take long to find a new setup that is similar in feel and speed as your old one.

Just unboxed my Razer DeathAdder and Steelseries QcK pad.

The DeathAdder is sensitive to lifting off the pad, that's all. Otherwise it's comfortable, light, and the mouse wheel is great.

Hey guys, I just got a new mouse. I was using an old Wolfking Trooper, nothing fancy, but it was a 1600 dpi optical. Well, the scroll wheel finally was sticking and whatnot, so I finally bought a new mouse. I went with the Razer Abyssus, 1800 dpi mouse for its simplicity, price, and overall decent reviews.

Well, overall I love the feel. It is smooth and fuck over my badass TL Razer mousepad, but I am having trouble with both the Razer utility and the Windows setting to get my feel and sensitivity back to how the WolfKing felt. It seems like no matter how much I play with settings, it is either slightly too sensitive, or just a bit too slow.

Being as I have never really been one that thought about my mouse much, are their any other type of tricks to sensitivity settings to get more control? I know with the exact same settings, it is a bit off which I am guessing is due to the difference in dpi between the two mice. Any help/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: LoL. I just read a few posts above where someone is asking the same thing. You can ignore this and I will try some of those suggestions. Haha. Thanks for reading though!

Hi, I'm looking to get a new mouse:

1. What's your grip style?
Palm at the moment. I may switch to fingertip if it helps me play SC2 better.
2. What's your sensitivity?
Medium-ish I think. My current mouse has low DPI so I can probably raise it higher if I get a higher DPI mouse.
3. What's your maximum budget?
Around 100$ max
4. Do you want additional buttons?
Yes, at least a forward mouse button and a backward mouse button.
5. What games do you play?
Mostly Starcraft 2, some D3 and the rare FPS.
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
What is this? I didn't see anything about this in the OP...
7. Other relevant information
I'm a newbie. At the moment I'm using a Logitech MX518 with 1800 DPI, I think. I got it before I started playing a lot of SC2, so I'd love a mouse that's 'better' for SC2.

Dont change the ingame SC2 sens if you can help it. 51-54% is 1:1 response from mouse.

In terms of sensitivity adjustment (measured in true DPI i guess, no other way for it) dont worry so much, i bounce around quite a bit between extremey low settings and what could be considered closer to average i guess (around 270-900dpi range) in sc2 and osu @1920x1080, and overall, if you play quite a bit you wont take long to adjust, even to extremes of more than doubling or halving sensitivity etc. If you change DPI between playing sessions for anything other than small jumps you will get the best results. Something like 1600-1400, change it and then go to sleep immediately, you probably wont even notice in the morning.

I have found you need different grips for different DPI settings, so if you have trouble, try changing grips a bit, i was finding it almost impossible to control 1600+ without palm grip on deathadder, but at much lower sensitivities i like to just grip with fingertips and give a ton more freedom for fingers for smaller movements, and whole-arm for those outside of range of finger movements.

If you are unsure of a sensitivity to settle on, go down, not up, accuracy is lost with speed and you can play SC2 fine even as low as 180/270 dpi (though i would not reccomend below 450 under any cirumstance) if you dont do inefficient stuff like dragging mouse to edge of screen to scroll (camera hotkeys, double tapping 1-0, and middle mouse wheel are much better options).

400-1000dpi should be comfortable for anyone unless you have an extremely limiting

Brief Logitech g400 Review

Just got the Logitech g400, came from using a Razer Deathadder and previously Logitech g5, Razer Abyssus, Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.

Shape & Feel: 5/5

Great shape. Best shape in my opinion of all the mice I've used and probably the main reason I bought it. I gave my g5 away so I tried the Deathadder and that broke after 3 years. I love the shape of the g5, mx518, and g400 (personal preference). Sides aren't as good as the old mx518 or g5 but aren't bad. The predecessors had better grip. Clicks are very crisp and light. Probably using Omron switches. There are ridges on the left and right sides of the mouse where you place your thumb and ring finger under to help you lift the mouse. Other mice are easier to lift off the pad such as the Abyssus due to its small weight and the IME 3.0 due to the way you palm it. The g400 is easier to pick up than the deathadder imo. It is also lighter in weight compared to the DA.

Sensor: 4.5/5

The sensor has very slight prediction. It is noticeable when drawing lines in paint but when playing FPS games and sc2, it is not noticeable. It is not as strong as when it was in the MX518. Also, The sensor performs really well at 400 and 800 DPI. I haven't tested other settings yet but I assume it will perform great as well.

EDIT: There is no acceleration, mouse malfunction rate was not reached and I move my mouse pretty fast. I know the g5 had a 2.0 m/s malfunction speed and I hit that quite often playing and I haven't see than happen at all using this mouse.

Overall: 9.5/10

This is a very good mouse. Built extremely well. Had it been given the deathadder's sensor, it would have been a 10/10 mouse. Highly recommend this mouse to people looking for a palmgrip or clawgrip mouse. I use palmgrip when playing FPS and clawgrip when playing SC2.

I've read around places, and it seems like the Logitech G400 is the right mouse for me, since I come from a MX518, and don't need the insane DPI of a 80$ mouse.

Thoughts on this?

I'd say Razer Deathadder or Logitech G500. You could also go for the G400 which, if I recall correctly, has the same shape as the MX518.

Maybe there are lots of people regularly browsing this thread, so I'll ask here again:
Is it possible to adjust my Logitech Mini Optical to SC2? SC:BW players (like Flash) still use it for SC2, so I guess there's got to be some way.

I'm using a steelseries Kinzu mouse and I've run into a problem the past couple days.

Whenever I left click, it double (and sometimes triple) left clicks. Is there a way to change this? I've tried downloading the kinzu drivers, but this doesn't fix it. I don't know if its a hardware or driver/setup problem.

Can mouse even 'die'?

Sounds like the microswitch is wearing out. it happens. I'd contact support. But make sure you update your firmware first.

Hello TL, was wondering if I could get some help in choosing a mouse.

Top 2 attributes: Comfortable in my hand, ease of use (after however long a period of adjustment may be)

Some pertinent information: I am a Mac user, and therefore any mouse that I get must be able to be used with a Mac computer. In addition, I've been using just a standard Mac Keyboard and Mouse (how I managed to get to platinum with them, I do not know) and while I'm used to those, I've accepted that anything that I buy, I will have to adjust to. The Mac mouse, though, I do like the feel of, in a way-- it's a fairly small mouse, and it's heavy. However its response time, acceleration, dpi, all that stuff, is awful, so I am looking for a new one.

1. What's your grip style?
Definitely a fingertip style- I don't feel very comfortable when the mouse body, for lack of a better word, is crushed up against my palm.
2. What's your sensitivity?
Medium sensitivity, but if there are mice that have adjustable sensitivities, I'd like one.
3. What's your maximum budget?
I'd like to try to keep it under 100$, no more.
4. Do you want additional buttons?
No additional buttons than the standard middle mouse scroll button (dunno if that counts as additional)
5. What games do you play?
Just Starcraft II.
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
Whut.
7. Other relevant information:
I do want a wired mouse...anything easy to "set up" would also be preferable, as I'm no tech wiz. Lastly, the other day, I tried out my friend's Razer Deathadder...it was ok, I mean I was awful with it because it was the first time I was ever using a "good" mouse, but it was ok, except it felt really large in my hand. Speaking of hands, I have medium sized hands, nothing too small, but I really do prefer a fingertip grip. Weight, I like a heavier mouse, but not a brick, yknow, haha.

I think that's it! Any suggestions will be appreciated Of course, I'm not just gonna go and get the first thing someone says, I'll go over to Best Buy or something first and try things out.

Thanks all,
Zeya

Are there any major known issues with the g400? I'm looking to upgrade an old kinzu and I really like the feel of the mx518.

The only reason I'd upgrade to a g400 from an mx518 would be the decrease in prediction. If you don't mind the prediction, I wouldn't waste my money on a new mouse just yet. If you need more DPI than what you have on your MX518 then you could upgrade.

Are there any major known issues with the g400? I'm looking to upgrade an old kinzu and I really like the feel of the mx518.

There have been problems with jitter in the past but they have been driver related and have been fixed with the newer drivers. If you play without drivers, then you don't have to worry about the jitter. Also, some users have noticed some pixel skipping above 800 DPI which were pretty much isolated cases and probably due to some faulty products. I haven't experienced any pixel skipping at all. I haven't tested above 1800 DPI so I can't say much more, but other than that, it's a great mouse.
