I want to change my mouse from MX518 but 3600 dpi is way overkill for me, but I need faster mouse. A lot of people said that using the driver/setpoint making the mouse jitter, but you can't change default dpi setting (400/800/1800/3600) without setpoint, and the dpi setting will return to default when you quit the setpoint.

Can G400 users confirm this? Or has logitech fix the software issue?

I love my MX518 and seeing G400 as its successor I prefer G400 over other mouse. Or should I get g500?
EDIT: I got carried away. To answer your question, yes, but you can change the default as well ^_^

The G400 uses different software than the MX518. It uses Logitech Gaming Software v8.20, which means more options to change the sensitivity for your mouse.

A quick screen elaborating on this: + Show Spoiler +

As you can see in the picture, there are a lot more options to customize your DPI and sensitivity with the G400 than the MX518. A quick list of a few features over the MX518:

  • The ability to set between 2-5 custom sensitivity settings ranging from 200 DPI and 3600 DPI in increments of 50
  • The ability to set up 'macros' where you press a single button and multiple keys are pressed.
  • The ability to set up different profiles for different games, such as one for SC2, one for an FPS, one for an RPG, etc that will be switched automatically assuming you set up the profiles.
  • A few more that I don't remember right now.

Logitech fixed the issue. I'm using the latest drivers. No jitter problems. G500 has acceleration and is heavier than the G400. It does have more features.

I'm really confused about the Razer Abyssus's driver, esp the "Sensitivity" adjuster seen here (section 4):
http://www.razersupport.com/master-guides/Abyssus/RzrAbyssus_Eng.pdf

What # (1-10 on this bar) is just the normal mouse sensitivity ie 1800 dpi? I have the slider on the back of the mouse set to 1800, but this driver setting messes with everything >.< I just want exactly 1800 dpi, no accelleration/drift control/added sensitivity etc... i'm guessing "10" would mean 100% 1800 dpi?

I have an question about the Kinzu V2 pro.

I bought the mouse, and I wonder if I may have a busted model.
Whe I use it in sc2, and I box units fast. They mouse will start boxing about 2cm later compared to the boxes of my other mice. It is as if the click has a delay.

Does anybody have a comaparble problem? Thanks.

The only way to change the DPI on the Abyssus is with the switch on the bottom, so yea I'd assume that sensivity bar merely adjusts windows sens. You don't actually need the drivers to use the Abyssus; if it's too much of a bother you can just uninstall them and use the switch along with the windows sensitivity bar!

Precursor I went with the deathadder after lengthy review and feel of the two.

The 1-10 slider in the razer controls confuses me as well because it does not change windows sensitivity and it doesn't change the DPI setting but I get a slower mouse anyway. I realize DPI isn't speed but it sort of is.

I just got it yesterday and I am running

6/11 windows sens
6/10 razer sens
1800 dpi
500 hz

But yea I am pretty confused by razer drivers as well.

Going to use the DA for a month or so before I decide if I would like a g400 better but at this point since I got the DA for 40$ I probably can't go wrong.

Alright few things. Does anyone else's steelseries Sensei make a gritty sound when moving it around? I've used it on a glass mousepad, 9hd, and a razer goliathus. Pretty much same shit.

Another thing. Does anyone know a mouse bungee or something for it's cable? I've read that the razer one doesn't work with it's braided cable. Thanks.

I got the Abyssus a few months back and I love it, it's perfect for me because I don't put as much time as I would like into gaming anymore but when I do it functions well and is a great simple gaming mouse, and Amazon had it for $20 less than the listed price on razer.com (normally around $50). My only complaint is that the matte finish picks up the oil prints of your hand after the first hour or so of using it, and in my case the rest of my family who I share time with on my PC. It's pretty much condemned to staying that way after countless times of wiping it down. Anyone else get this problem? Or is my family's right hands just unusually oily?

Hello TL,

I'm looking to buy a gaming mouse to replace my current, cheapo € 6,- Trust mouse

http://i.imgur.com/8u59B.jpg

The reason for this is that, the more I play SC2 after having taken an extended break, the more I realise that my control is really, really bad.

The mouse is fairly small, about 9.5 cm / 3.7 inches back to front while my right hand is 17.5 cm / 7 inch from wrist to the tip of my middle finger. This means I am more or less forced to use the fingertip grip. While this isn't a problem in principle, I find myself having to correct the motion of my pointer a lot because the mouse is so incredibly light.
A secondary problem I'm having is that the pointer sometimes flicks to the top-right or top-left of the screen every ten minutes or so. This doesn't often happen during a crucial moment, but I start playing more panick-y everytime it happens.

At any rate, I'm looking for a slightly larger and heavier mouse (there is about 5 cm/ 2 inch of free space between the back of the mouse and the palm of my hand) that is more stable, but will still allow me to use the fingertip grip.

1. What's your grip style?
I find myself liking the Fingertip grip, as it allows me to make precise movements. That said, I have been using the Fingertip grip out of necessity for the past eight years due to the size of the mouse I've been using and I'm thinking it would be good to adopt a hybrid grip, switching away from Fingertip during less intense moments.

I should also add that I'm using a soft mousepad with a wrist rest. This allows me to pivot my wrist and use the Fingertip grip on the entire mousemat without tiring too much.

2. What's your sensitivity?
The mouse I have doesn't allow me to change the sensitivity, so I don't know. I've set the mouse options in Windows (XP) to disable mouse acceleration, changed the mouse speed slider two ticks to "faster" from the centre and my SC2 in-game mouse sensitivity is set to 69%, which seems to work nicely.

3. What's your maximum budget?
Order of € 50,- / $ 60,-

4. Do you want additional buttons?
Would be interesting to experiment with, but I don't consider it an important factor in choosing a mouse.

5. What games do you play?
Mostly strategy games like SC2.

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
Never had a mouse with the functionality, but I think it would mess up my control. Preferrably not.

7. Other relevant information:
I'm considering buying a gaming mouse from a brand that supports TL/eSports. I'm thinking Razer since a good friend of mine has good experiences using their mice.

I've taken the test on Razer's website: http://www.razerzone.com/mouseguide/configurator

1 ) Which hand do you use to control your mouse? No preference. Both/either hand is fine.
2 ) What size of mouse do you prefer? No preference
3 ) How do you hold your mouse? Fingertip Grip I only use the tips of my fingers to move my mouse around.
4 ) What kind of gaming surface are you using? I'm playing on a soft mat.
5 ) What size of monitor are you playing on? Large Monitor.
6 ) Would you like to use your mouse to perform macros? I don't mind
7 ) Would you like your mouse to be wireless? No, I dont mind cables.
8 ) Do you want to use your mouse on multiple computers? I don't mind

and it recommends me to use the Razer DeathAdder with the Krait and Salmosa second and third. Now if I change the grip question to Claw/Palm, the answer is funnily enough still DeathAdder.
I'm not sure if Razer is just trying to sell the DeathAdder or not, but I've done some searching online for people with revies / user experiences and people seem to be divided on what the DA was meant for. Razer itself puts it as a Claw grip mouse on http://www.razerzone.com/mouseguide/ergonomic/rightmouse , but I've read forums where people say they use it as Palm and Fingertip aswell.

I was considering buying the DA as some signs point toward it being a good mouse for me. The friend I mentioned ealier uses this mouse and is quite happy with it, however his hands are quite bigger than mine.

Right now I'm doubting whether the DA is a good mouse, since others have recommended the following mice aswell:
  • Steelseries Xai / Kana
  • Razer Abyssus / Salmosa
  • Roccat Kova+
  • Logitech G9X / G400

Razer itself lists also lists the Abyssus as a fingertip mouse, so I'm leaning towards that model or its predecessor the Salmosa. However, the internet is full of stories that seem to conflict one another and I'm not sure.

I would like to know what TL thinks, given the above.

Edit: Extra question:

The Razer Abyssus & Salmosa have basically the same dimensions, however the first is abou 70g and the second 100g. Does anyone have any experience with both mice and can compare the feel of their weights?

From Razer I'd say the Imperator, from Steelseries the Xai / Sensei, from Logitech the G400. These are great mice of intermediary size, which seems to be what you're looking for. I know nothing about Roccat mice unfortunately.

Hello TL, was wondering if I could get some help in choosing a mouse.

Top 2 attributes: Comfortable in my hand, ease of use (after however long a period of adjustment may be)

Some pertinent information: I am a Mac user, and therefore any mouse that I get must be able to be used with a Mac computer. In addition, I've been using just a standard Mac Keyboard and Mouse (how I managed to get to platinum with them, I do not know) and while I'm used to those, I've accepted that anything that I buy, I will have to adjust to. The Mac mouse, though, I do like the feel of, in a way-- it's a fairly small mouse, and it's heavy. However its response time, acceleration, dpi, all that stuff, is awful, so I am looking for a new one.

1. What's your grip style?
Definitely a fingertip, or maybe claw, style- I don't feel very comfortable when the mouse body, for lack of a better word, is crushed up against my palm.
2. What's your sensitivity?
Medium sensitivity, but if there are mice that have adjustable sensitivities, I'd like one.
3. What's your maximum budget?
I'd like to try to keep it under 100$, no more.
4. Do you want additional buttons?
No additional buttons than the standard middle mouse scroll button (dunno if that counts as additional)
5. What games do you play?
Just Starcraft II.
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
Whut.
7. Other relevant information:
I do want a wired mouse...anything easy to "set up" would also be preferable, as I'm no tech wiz. Lastly, the other day, I tried out my friend's Razer Deathadder...it was ok, I mean I was awful with it because it was the first time I was ever using a "good" mouse, but it was ok, except it felt really large in my hand. Speaking of hands, I have medium sized hands, nothing too small, but I really do prefer a fingertip grip. Weight, I like a heavier mouse, but not a brick, yknow, haha.

I think that's it! Any suggestions will be appreciated Of course, I'm not just gonna go and get the first thing someone says, I'll go over to Best Buy or something first and try things out.

Thanks all,
Zeya
