Ah poop I'm out of excuses for not updating this. I've definitely had the time to do it at this point. It's just that I've been wanting to revamp it completely and quite frankly my goal for that is so lofty that it is rather discouraging. I fail. The last thing I want is for this to get unstickied or anything like that. I'll probably just forget about the revamp for now and do another big sweep of threads/links to pick up. I'm out of room for making promises for an ETA, but I'll get on it soon enough >.<
edit:
NOW UPDATING. Spent many hours on it today already. I've decided not to half-ass it after all; when I'm done it should be very intuitive, clean, and complete (without a bunch of useless threads).
Ok got all the threads together and put them in their sections.
Formatting will probably be done tomorrow.

Most subsections are in chronological order (newer = first). For the ones that aren't necessarily (like the iCCup Mapmaking Team section, or the Map of the Month section), feel free to suggest another order for the links.
Also feel free to come up with a better order for the table of contents if you can.
edit: Oh yeah I may or may not mark all of the best "must-read" threads with a color (like red). Let me know if this is a good idea or if there is a thread you think deserves it.

Hey OP, I recently cut out these three race logos for use in my map, they are well cut out using the pen tool and I think they would save people a good deal of time and effort in cutting out their own.
Here's an example one and the hardest one I had to do because of the electric orb.
The PSD files have a transparent BG logo as well as an alpha channel for exporting to TGA The PNG files have a transparent BG logo The TGA files have alpha channel and work in SC2 as is
If anyone ends up using them a tiny credit somewhere on the map would be much appreciated .
Oh and just some feedback on the original post, the sc2mapster url text is missing a hyperlink and the MotM section is a little bit cluttered/confusing and the numbering seems to be going backwards ;p.
You should add links to other SC2 mapping sites, like staredit.net, udmod.com, hiveworkshop.com's sc2 section, and thehelper.net's sc2 mapping section. Also galaxywiki.net is a valuable resource. There's also planetary workshop, not sure if that has tutorials or not though.

When I come back I will be better than I ever was at mapmaking; that's a promise and of course so is my eventual return!
I tried doing this so i could open up the map 'risk revulsion', but i'm not an expert on this type of stuff so i got stuck on number 4: I tried opening the map with the mpq editor but i kept getting the message "an attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."
I'm not really sure on what to do here, could someone who knows how to do this be more specific with steps 4-5?
