Poll: Would you rather buy from a sponsor of a SC2 League/Tourny?Yes (924) 86% No (146) 14% 1070 total votes Your vote: Would you rather buy from a sponsor of a SC2 League/Tourny? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
As the title suggests, would you buy from a SC2 Sponsor then a company that lets say has not?
I'm researching this specific topic for a new league I might be creating. You responding to this poll honestly will maybe help the future of SC2 as a E-Sport.

If I have to choose between 2 similar products, why would I not select the one that supports something that I care about (esports)? Easy choice, it helps keeping the scene alive.
|
Most definitely, probably even if it costs more
|
If the product is nice and i have to choose i will pick the supporter.
Most likely because of the advertisment anyway.
If you see some Pro players use all the same stuff you will just get to the point to try it out yourself; and if its not complete junk, buy and use it.
However if its something like "Korean Airlines" what exactly should i "buy" from them ? I'm not really going to fly around with that Airline; so Yes for "products" and "no" for some random stuff thats not directly linked to the game.

Absolutely. Steel Series wasn't even on my radar, but now I want...well...pretty much everything of theirs :-D
|
I definitely pick my purchases for things like computer hardware, but I'm not going to find a case of pocari sweat online or anything. Have to agree with TheOnlyOne on this.
I will go out of my way to pick up SteelSeries and Razer products since they sponsor so many teams on so many different games, and I got some TLAF apps too

my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 says and my new Intel i7 both say YES

I'll buy from whatever I feel offers the best product or service. Sponsoring something SC2 related doesn't influence the final decision.
Like all advertisements it might make me aware that the sponsor brand exists and as such increase the likelihood that I'll consider the sponsor for a potential purchase from 0% to something higher than that, but that has nothing to do with SC2.
While I'm sure you'll receive many many votes for 'Yes' here I doubt that most of them are actually truthful. I believe it's just SC2 players voting for 'Yes' because it will 'maybe help the future of SC2 as a E-Sport'.
I just care about Starcraft. I don't care about sponsors, no matter where they annoy me with their advertisements.

It will certainly influence my choice, without question.

I would buy a coke because I prefer coke, and that's probably what surray's getting at. And I agree.

lol reminds me that in my latest trip to Japan, where most labels are only in japanese, I did pick up a Pocari Sweat when looking for something to drink, since I saw it on GSL. it was actually pretty good and I ended up buying a few more during the trip, all thanks to their GSL sponsorship!

Unless they're identical in all aspects, no.

Exactly.
Let's say I watch a SC2 tournament stream and it's sponsored by Drink X. The next day I go into a store and I see no coke, I see no mountain dew, I just see random soda drinks I never heard of, and I see Drink X from the stream last night. At that point I'm likely to try Drink X simply because it's the only brand name that I heard of that I can get at the time, but if it offered coke or anything that I like to drink usually I would never even care about Drink X being there.
It's simply brand awareness and has nothing to do with the sponsor being related to SC2. I could have seen Drink X on a billboard next to the street, or on TV, and it would have the same effect.

Bought steelseries products instead of others because they sponsor SC2 tournaments.

eSports sponsorships have made me reconsider my stance of only buying AMD processors. I haven't bought an Intel chip for years and had never even considered it. Hell, I can't even remember why I stopped considering Intel, I just did.
Now 'cause of Intel's sponsorship of various things, I'll almost certainly be getting an i5/i7 (money permitting) when I can.

Your right, but if you want to buy a new mobile phone and you got 2 phones with the same attributes, wouldnt you buy the one from e.g. Sony Ericsson? Simply because they support SC2.
|
No, but i vote yes because it's better for eposrts.
|
I bought pocari sweat instead of other isotonic drinks in my country because flash/skt drinks them
so yup i tihnk i will support the sc2 merchandise, unless it really falls short of my demand
|
I'm always on the lookout for samsung products whenever I'm buying those type of things
They're pretty good products (hard drive/etc) anyway, them supporting a sc team only helps
