LAST UPDATE: GSL announced new maps for GSTL - http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=189181 This thread is not going to be updated anymore.
GSL Code S progamer NSPGenius just posted a thread on PlayXP about GSL official map change.
According to NSPGenius, 4 bad maps will be pulled out from GSL official maps. Those 4 maps are Steppes of War, Delta Quadrant, Blistering Sands and unknown one. For replacement, 4 other maps will be used on GSL.
According to a reply from Jung-Won Chae, the director of Gretech E-Sports Operations and GSL commentator, Gisado Star-Challenge is now testing new maps for next GSL season.
Gisado Star-Challenge is now using new maps listed below. Of course, those maps are just candidates. These testing maps are uploaded on ALL servers by smileyyy(EU), [SCC]Faust(NA), [wh]_ForAlways(NA), MeLo(SEA). Search 'GSL' or mapname to play on these maps. There is an ongoing closed map tests in GomTV also.
I had a talk with Gisado about this issue and he said "I can not answer weather or not those maps are going to be included on GSL map pool because map pool change requires extreme cautions. I can not give you a definite answer, but I can say it is a positive atmosphere in progress."

I sincerely hope TSL 3 will have these maps !!. It tells you a lot when I am 100% sure that the GSL maps will better than the 4 maps they pulled out of the pool !Last edit: 2011-01-08 22:59:43 |

They've finally realised after 2-3 seasons that maps play a big factor in game entertainment.
I haven't seen a bad game on Shakuras in GSL to date. |

New custom made maps may actually save GSL and SC2 in general in Korea.

I read somewhere the other day Gisado was using Iccup maps... sure hope we see some of them added to map pool.
Hell, at this stage I'd settle for anything other than the current blizzard maps, even the ones that are relatively balanced are so old and well used now -.- |

| Crossfire sucks. The nat is so open on top of having a wide ramp and a backdoor, and the mineral formations suck. Also the towers aren't along the main pathing which is just a personal peeve of mine. The tightness of the middle makes it unlikely it'd be balanced. |

| Mmm i actually feel kinda sad about this. Even though zerg could have some hard times on these maps I still think they provided interesting games and this way there will be no map that zerg's mind apart from LT. One of the weaknesses of the zerg races I feel like is their susceptibility to rushes and removing these maps kinda makes zerg stronger in GSL atleast. |

| Hell yes! Hopefuly they will use community maps such as ICCup maps and Blizzard will finally take note and include those maps in their poop and remove the also remove the imba maps like delta,steps, etc. |
